I am Legend, Ali, Bagger Vance, and hitch were far from the same tired summer blockbusters, but, whatever. Oh, and his acting was the best part of I am Legend. That scene inside of the building > you phoenix.
Also, whitaker is fucking amazing. In fact, he is so damned good that in Vantage point, he seemed like he was overacting, in comparison to everyone elses ridiculous performances. :lol
George Clooney is big because he's a good actor that has a lot of appreciation for the craft, and who has a personality that everyone likes.
Will Smith is by far the biggest movie star in the world because he is also a rather talented actor, but much more then that he has an incredible ability to pick hits. He's also pretty much the only actor that appeals to everyone, white, black, Hispanic, etc. He's equally popular with everyone. He is the only person left in the world that can open a movie, guaranteed.

Definitely one of the worst movies I've actually paid to see. Not my fault though, I was with friends, and there was nothing much else on at the time. But seeing Whitaker on the poster made me give the okay. Bad decision.
And Will Smith is a much better actor than some in this thread give him credit for. It just depends on the type of film he's in. For me, he was solid, if not impressive, in Legend of Bagger Vance and Ali.
Clooney is a more skilled actor, definitely, and he's also an impressive creative force when it comes to making films as well. So, it is a shame that he doesn't make the same Box Office numbers as Will Smith. In the end though, the quality of your work will stay with you a lot longer than anything else. What is made evident, though, is that he is yet to carry a blockbuster film like Ocean's Eleven without an ensemble cast backing him up. That's what separates him from Will Smith, and whether that's a burden or not is up to the eye of the beholder. With that in mind, he only has himself to blame with his most recent movie.

Clooney's awesome and even a good director. Confessions of a Dangerous Mind was a surprisingly good movie.
He just needso a big pop corn flick, like say a Splinter Cell adaptation, he can pull the "too old for this shit" character easily.
I agree, but Will Smith has had such a long running career. his role in french prince of bel air, made him legendary!
Clooney is really good though. I FREAKING LOVED Syriana. If you havent watched that, then do it. It's really really good. Michael Clayton was pretty good too. Also liked his small role in the thin red line!
Uh, did you miss Matt Damon? Or DiCaprio? I wouldn't put them on the elite list.
I mean, Eastwood, then Leonardo Dicaprio? Are you kidding me? Alba? Matt Damon? Really?
I would put either people making $20 million a movie or people with an unprecedented resume in combination with star power. Eastwood, Deniro, Pacino..uh, Matt Fricken Damon?
