German site unboxes Switch and reviews it

The more I see the Neon version it makes me wish I hadn't pre-ordered the grey. I'm thinking about cancelling and waiting for Neons to be available again.

Or you could just buy the Red/Blue Neon controller pack, or buy both the red/red and blue/blue packs to get the same red/blue neon you get with the console, or even just buy the singular blue/red neon controllers but ignore the $10 discount.

Well these guys aren't getting stuff from Nintendo anymore.

Oh, but they still will get stuff. They will probably get fined or something but, as sad as it is, Computer Bild is one of Germany's biggest Hardware & Gaming print magazines. It'd be a serious dent in Nintendo's marketing if they stopped shipping review copies to them.

I watched the whole video and at least the guy on the right is pretty terribly informed about the whole shebang.
I mean, first of all the included letter from Nintendo. Shows it off on camera, then quickly lays it aside, saying "We will take a look at that later". Yeah well, if this enclosed letter has a wall of text on it, the first thing I would do would read the whole damn thing, because somewhere in there it most definitely said not to show off the console outside of its packaging.

So they purposefully ignored the enclosed NDA.

Really unprofessional, but then again I wouldn't expect anything professional from Computer Bild anyway.

There are many other things that guy gets wrong, worst of all pronouncing Toad's name all wrong. And that is terrible.

First time we're seeing Red on the left and Blue on the right?

Usually I'd agree but this is Computer Bild Spiele. They are the biggest video game print magazine left in Germany although they are bleeding just as much as everyone else. They were a monster at some point with sales other print magazines could only dream of.

But they're still the #1 by far so I'm interested to see how Nintendo will handle this.
They're still big but not far ahead.
Maybe even 2nd if the quarters in this chart are for the calendar year: http://meedia.de/2017/01/27/eine-br...-massiven-auflagen-verlusten-aus-der-ivw-aus/

you can just buy them separately down the road man. They're just different color accessories. At least you have a switch preordered.

Uff...so what is they final verdict of the Switch? Not really interested in watching a 45 minute video.

These numbers are from different quarters if I'm seeing this correctly. We'll, anyway, CBS is a huge deal in the German-speaking part of the world.

But the way they handheld this was either malicious or incompetent to a staggering degree. They wanted this publicity.

I mean, they are horrible. not because of this but because of their magazines overall quality.

But yeah they even go like "oh there is a letter from nintendo, probably a NDA? eh, who cares we're already doing this" in the video.

Even if Computerbild is bad journalism (like their mother tabloid), they are part of Springer.

Nintendo banning Computerbild would be like banning a publication from the Murdoch group

It's on par for the course for every leakers lol

So I take it that the original video was taken down since this is a reupload on a channel non-related to Computer Bild? They were either naive or really stupid for not knowing what NDA means, especially in a big case like this.

This is Nintendo, they don't do what you'd normally expect. ;p I wouldn't be surprised if they sued ComputerBild for a serious breach of the NDA.

Or you could just buy the neon console and not spend a million dollars on controllers....

I had thought the grey controllers would look best but last weekend I got to play the Switch and the neon controllers looked way better. The colours in person are great. The grey ones looked pretty boring and smudgy.

i guy with a tie showcasing video games.
cant imagine anything more lame.

also, this one guy in the YT Comments in every video linked on gaf linking to this one particular shitfest of a website..
whats up with that?

I'm sure NCL would love to do that but Nintendo of Europe knows of CBS' significance in Europe.

If it was any other publication they'd be blacklisted for all eternity.

Sued for what? Not complying with something they didn't sign for? The only thing Nintendo can do is blacklist them.

Yes it was too unprofessional, and maybe even intentionally.
Haven't seen anything new in the video, though :/

can you really say "maybe even intentionally" when they literally don't read the embargo letter in the video and just put it away lol?

They did the same with the ps4 if I remember correctly. It's bild they just don't give a shit as europe biggest newspaper

this. People here need to understand that BILD is the german equivalent to FOX.

Come on. They either did sign something before they got the package or it was expected from them to act professionally since this wasn't the first pre-launch game/device they've gotten in the many years of CBS' operation.

And this whole "well, I DIDN'T SIGN it" excuse only works once. And then you're blacklisted.

Is anyone tripping out how the inverted camera works? Like how does the red controller look like its a left handed?

I wonder how they got the system if they don't know anything about NDA. Maybe they were BS to look innocent though.

Computerbild? they are so bad anyway. Like "we are the new frontier of tech news in Germany" not realizing they are some of the worst... I mean look at the production values and their staff. (not insulting, but come on...)

But then you have to... WAIT dun dun DUUUNnnn

Well if you don't have any bags around you can use a Bild paper to bag up your dog's shite before throwing it away.

This thread is now about "how to punish bad bad German site that provided us early info".

There's really no new info.
You'd get more info if you watched the video by hiphoptherobot.

These journalists just got their Switch and showed it off on screen because they ignored the included NDA.
That's really all there is to it.
Nothing new. Nothing we didn't already know about.

... that's what I said. They can get blacklisted, but if it's just a letter in the box there's no ground to sue on.

What info???

The unboxing is visual info.

Still doesn't change the fact that the discussion has become about what Nintendo would do to them. Like it's a BDSM forum or something.

BTW, this is all on a joking tone before anybody gets riled up.

You would think that if they were going to break embargo, they'd at least do something noteworthy.

Etika had more fun with a fake Switch than these guys manage to have with working hardware.

Damn idiots.

Next time Nintendo will make them write so many papers that if they do anything like this their asses will be flayed either by Nintendo or their bosses.

How on Earth could someone be that un-professional? I mean, the women in Reeberbahn were like 100 times more professional for crying out loud! Awesome people, by the way, even if I would never even think about bying their services. Really persistent but in a very polite way.

But those guys in front of the bars and restaurant, it seemed that they try to abduct us...

Anyway, fire those idiots and pick some actual talent to make your tech stuff!

Why is this such a big deal to you?

Sued for what? Not complying with something they didn't sign for? The only thing Nintendo can do is blacklist them.

Is there something I'm not aware of? If they received the console directly from Nintendo then they must have signed an agreement and it's also very likely there are financial repercussions for breaking it. (I should mention I'm not a total ignorant when it comes to NDA's, I've dealt with a few and there were always huge penalties for breaking the embargo).

I can't imagine Nintendo just dropped the box on their doorstep without any kind of legal agreement beforehand. But I don't know.

There's a frame contract you sign once and following NDAs builds up on that.

Considering the video was made on a Saturday, I assume it's a case of plain and simple miscommunication. Someone a bit higher on the totem pole likely told them the Switch would arrive on Saturday and that they could get into the office and start playing Zelda already but wasn't thinking far enough to even consider the idea that those two guys could think about live streaming the unboxing.

But then again, it's (Computer) Bild and they know very well they only have to fear a mild slap on the hand at worst.

This is hardly a review they barely did anything with it. These guys run a site? I mean they are dressed nice but everything else about the video is terrible, the stolen switch video was ages better lol
