Yes, that's only physical, but my point was that Playstation platforms sell the vast majority of software in Germany, the first 360 title was #25, while the first XB1 title was #55, both being FIFA, the most popular franchise in EU.

This feels wrong.

Oh and when MS plays it trump card in China it's game over for Sony. Do you know what 1% of sales in China will mean?
I know the meme that you're getting at, but there was a recent thread that pointed out that the PS4 outsold the Xbox One's LTD in just a month in China.
Is it? I've never seen a single ad and Wii U shelf spaces at the Saturns/Media Markts I've been to are very, very limited and/or hard to find.On-Topic: I am little bit surprised that the XboxOne is selling faster here than the WiiU.
Sliiiightly off-topic but looking at the NSU killings, the PEGIDA movement and burning asylums here in "good old" Germany...well alot of things haven't changed much...
I think Microsoft could get better sales if they actually advertised their console in Europe...
Who has seen an advert for Xbox in European media like on TV? It doesn't happen. In marketing terms the console doesn't even exist in Europe.

People expecting sales to hit tens of millions in a couple of years there were just delusional. It remains important to gain market penetration there for both Sony and MS, but that's not the market that is going determine the outcome of this console war.
Nothing. Looks like a fun Halo group to me. Nothing wrong with that.
The problem with the Xbox is that it's A: not the PlayStation and B: Germany isn't the US. MS didn't do much to strengthen the brand in Germany and Germany in response is showing them the cold shoulder.

In Poland "console" means PlayStation. If any land in Europe is Sony land then it has to be Poland. Which of course is mainly a PC land - console gaming is often (also wrong) considered as a very expensive hobby.
Xbox an.
Personally I know no one with a Xbox One. Taking online friends in to account I can still count everyone with a Xbox with one hand.
And it isn't that MS didn't try to push it. You had the ad with Klaas (one of Germany's most populars moderators), name drop in the Heute Show (though that seems more dependent on the writer's choice) and recently they have a sponsored fifteen minutes show on rocketbeansTV and have a selfproduced show with Rockstah.

if you ignore PS4's sales numbers in Germany
Xbox One is actually selling better than PS4 in Germany
So, "known" numbers so far.
Germany (March 2015):
PS4 1.6M
XB1 378k
France (December 2014)
PS4 1.1M
XB1 416k
UK
PS4 1M (August 2014)
XB1 1M (Late November 2014)
Combined 3M (Late March 2015). I would expect the PS4 LTD to be higher than in Germany, I guess.
Japan (April 2015)
PS4 1.43M
XB1 50k
Spain (Mid-September 2014)
PS4 360k
XB1 ~52k
Italy (December 2014, sales projection)
PS4 550k
XB1 150k
No idea how it turned out, I can't find anything more recent than 210k PS4 in June 2014.
Middle East (January 2015)
PS4 1M "soon"
XB1 ?
Probably missed a couple. Also lost track of the LTDs in the US.

Dance my puppets. Dance!!!
Damn PS4 is dominating
You know what, I had that feeling with the 360. My "casual" gamer friends play Fifa or CoD most of the time and it was on a PS3.
Ed Fries did a lot for the industry. I would prefer that it wasn't him in that GIF.
Don't these numbers put the PS4 weekly sales in Germany below Japans' for 2015?
I laughed so hard my führer-portrait fell off the wall...how the fuck did a thread about console sales end up here... if this was supposed to be funny, you failed.
Considering it was the year 2014 and the WiiU had been out for a while already, that's not too surprising. XBOX getting demolished isn't surprising either. Would still like to see the 2013 sales, since I said that Sony didn't have >50% of the market share that year.
But yeah, there really need to be some numbers about the revenue split into Sony, MS and Nintendo parts.
Looking at 2014, Sony might possibly be above 50% there.
Definitely. I was just pointing it out because I know how often the China meme is brought up. I think the Middle East is the surprising market this gen that no one really talks about. Earlier this year it was reported that the PS4 was close to crossing a million there and that it was selling 4x's faster than the PS3. That was the most popular console there last gen with 60% of the market. It's quietly become an important market.
Don't these numbers put the PS4 weekly sales in Germany below Japans' for 2015?
Well Japan has close to 50 million more people, so this would not really be surprising.
Why not?Don't read too much into it.
The brand image of Xbox is just bad. It's perceived as a cheap Playstation knockoff by most people I talked to. And those fire sales and price drops I've seen apparently only fuel this perception.
I couldn't find the yearly chart for 2013, but the weekly charts are archived on GAF & tell pretty much the same picture.
& the 2014 chart points to a ~75%+ marketshare rather than 50% considering the vast majority of PS titles were in the first 50, it shouldn't surprise you for example if the #1 title alone sold better than the bottom 50 combined (this happens a lot in the UK chart).
But its the market everyone calls dead for consoles (see media create threads).
At the start of this generation (November '13) the PS3 and 360 was:What was the ratio PS2/lifecycle vs. original Xbox/lifecycle and the Xbox 360 vs. PS3 ratio like in germany??
The thing is: It doesn't account for sales discounts. So it's always tough to say anything too specific in that regard. Add to that the millions of bundles that were available which reduce either the console price or the game's price, however you wanna see it. Well, 2014 was a good year for Sony, that much is definite.
A similar situation occurs now and then here. I was browsing the new game catalogue and this old due comes in with his kids, points at an Wii U and says to the clerk "Give me that Playstation."In Poland "console" means PlayStation. If any land in Europe is Sony land then it has to be Poland. Which of course is mainly a PC land - console gaming is often (also wrong) considered as a very expensive hobby.
Discounts aren't exclusive to one platform or one market for that matter, I don't get your point?
