It's kind of unhinged and conspiracy-esque but I keep seeing it linked places and I think just the amount of diverse negative footage will affect people who are already unhappy with the situation.

Please explain to me what is wrong with telling the truth? This crisis isn't exactly helping Europe or whatever country involved. The Europe as we know it will face tremendous troubles if we continue like this.

Anyway I feel too far removed from the European migration situation to comment on it that much, I was just talking about that video as a probably effective propaganda tool for anyone who was unsure about their opinion on the situation, or leaning towards the anti-immigration side.

Since Syrians represent about 1/5 of the current migrants/refugees your argument falls flat. War refugees are currently in a minority. Not saying that "lol they have iphones they must be rich! Why are they coming here?" isn't a pretty god damned stupid argument, but let's combat stupidity with actual facts and reasonable arguments.

I'm not getting what you're saying. He was extrapolating the syrian predicament unto all the people currently fleeing to europe. I'm saying that you can't do that since they're only 1/5th of the total. Nobody else in the current wave, as far as I know, are being forcibly displaced the way the syrians are.
Again... I'm not defending the guy who made the iphone comment; I'm saying that we need to combat these ideas with well thought out and reasoned arguments. Otherwise, when we get "found out", we run the risk of having strengthened someones racist/negative possition. If I remember correctly, you're from Sweden, right? This happens all the time with SD.
I think I've seen some video from that channel (or one much like it) waaay back. It's all racist and anti-jewish garbage. I mean... there was a shot of a black man running towards the camera yelling "money! money!" in an exited voice. If I was fleeing from poverty I'd be pretty damned exited about the prospect of money too! The shots of people celebrating as they crossed the border actually made me smile. But the creator of the video clearly intends for this to scare you! Says a lot about their sensibilities and preconcieved notions.

I read that as you implying that Syrians were the only people who were war refugees and actually needed help. Maybe that's not what you meant, but several people in this topic have been saying that "a majority are not even refugees but opportunistic economic migrants" and as only evidence have used the 20 % number for Syrians, thus implying that Syria is the only place people would want to escape from due to war.
If that's not what you are saying, then why are you even bringing up that number in the first place? How is it at all relevant that only 20 % of refugees are Syrians if you acknowledge that people from Iraq, Afghanistan, Sudan and Eritrea have legitimate asylum causes as well?
Basically, a lot of people are using that number to argue for something for which it is not evidence. So if people bring that number up, I respond to explain that it is not relevant so that we don't waste time discussing useless statistics.

I merely ment to argue against his direct argument that since Syrians were foricbly displaced from their country and only had time to grab their phones, then ALL refugees only had time to grab their phones. Since Syrians are only 20% of the population they can't be made to be representative. No foul intent ment.

There is not a single positive thing for Europe when it comes to letting in economical migrants. Europe is falling apart. One of the Paris attackers was a refugee that slipped through "border control" and it surely is just the beginning.
Not all muslims are terrorists, but most terrorists are muslim. This is a fact and non negotiable. Is it because muslim people interpret their "ideology" wrongly or what the hell is going on? It surely isnt't coincidence anymore.

The reason Europe is taking migrants is because you guys aren't having children. Merkel knows that Germany will no longer have the 4th-highest GDP if Germany's population continues to shrink. Bringing in mass numbers of migrants makes a nation look altruistic while also solving the problem of population shrinkage. In addition, migrants are willing to work for lower prices than citizens.
European people won't benefit much from immigration, but European governments and elites certainly will.
This is pretty accurate, in regards to terrorism attacks in Europe or the US.
To be fair, most terrorism does come from Islamist extremist groups, but the vast vast majority of the activity/attacks are in the Middle East. Often against other Muslims. The 4 biggests (and also more deadly) terrorist organizations are as following: Taliban, Al Qaeda, Boko Haram and ISIS.

Who want's to have children when you can barely support yourself? Read the last milenial topic on neogaf and you'll see how many people post how "good" they have it and how bad things would go if you add a kid to your house mortgage, car upkeep and general lfe expenses. And if cash is not the problem, then time surely is, because no one has enough of it when you work your ass together with your partner to barely make it to the next month. Taking in immigrants is not the answer for this problem.

No one in the western world is having kids. Highest birthrate is 1.8 and that is the US. Canada is 1.6 Germany and Spain are like 1.3.
Anyone who is socially responsible enough to understand that they may not be able to afford kids are ironically the ones who should probably be having kids.
Well... taking in immigrants is the answer to this problem. I don't think it's a good answer, and I don't think anybody should be obligated to have children, but from an international capitalist standpoint a nation needs a growing GDP. This is impossible if the population is shrinking.
You're right on the money about why people are having fewer children these days, but governments are unwilling to solve those factors. Politicians would be forced to challenge corporations to impose higher wages and reduce working hours for their employees, and no politician wants to do this. It's difficult to win an election if you aren't friendly with banks and large employers.
