Pretty good deal imo.

My phatty died already once in March and I paid a 3rd party company to fix the YLOD, this is tempting...but i've been going through some PS2 games I never played last gen. To slim or not to slim...

WHY NOT CANADA

First the 360 promotion, now this :(

deals? In our 3rd world country? Surely you jest. Now if you'll excuse me I'm off to spend $64.99 on a 5 year old used game

hmm maybe I should do this. I feel like my 20 gig is on the verge of dying sometimes, and IIRC the slim replacement program costs $150.

Does anybody know if the final 80GB fat model (CECHKxx, CECHLxx, CECHMxx) with 65nm GPU and 65nm CPU is less prone to YLOD than the prior fat models?

Well fuck i might have to do this. I do love the BC on my phat 60 gig but Im not sure how much I will be using it in the future and the slim would be a nice upgrade....The new ones are a lot cooler and less noisy, aren't they? Might be worth the upgrade.

I wonder if they'll take my fixed YLOD system...

if it works. they'll take it? ;P unless you mean fix it will turn on but may go full YLOD eventually :lol

Gamestop will take it in, but they'll charge a refurbishment fee for repairing the system. It varies upon which version of the PS3 you own, but expect to lose a sizable chunk of credit off it.

My 60GB is on it's way out... I think. It's hard to tell sometimes. Loud hairblower fan and hairblower like heat coming out of it.

Ugh, tempting. A quick $200 or try my luck at Craigslist.

Read it wrong. I heard its a $100 or so for a YLOD PS3.

If you're ps3 is in a semi-warm room, it's going to get hotter than usual too. My 60GB runs fun...but sometimes it gets really loud. Varies on how hot my room is and what game i'm playing ( Red Dead and Uncharted 2 were especially heating things up)

But yeah, i've wanted to migrate to a cooler running slim for awhile.....this is tempting. How does full migration of saved games work with ps3s?

My PS3 got louder and louder. Would even kick the fan into full gear while watching Netflix. Then it YLOD not to much later.....

Fuck, I had about $100 in credit a couple of days ago. Could have gotten a new slim if I traded in my 60GB.

Grrr...

I wonder how good they check the system out. I had to change my blue-ray laser once. Do they check for missing screws etc...

I think I might go with this but the only problem is I don't know how to transfer everything from my 60gb to the slim. Can anyone help me out here or put me in the right direction?

What is the process for digital transfers? Is it by account or is it tied to the system?

I think it is account based

This is something that's pushing me towards craigslist too... I won't be able to do a PS3 to PS3 transfer if I trade in for a slim.

Hypocrites, the lot of ya.
Not everyone complains about Gamestop. They have good deals from time to time. A budget minded gamer would be remiss to abstain from some of their deals, which are rare for GS.

Hmmm, should tell my brother about this, he has the OG 20 gig, the thing is a damn tank, never had one problem with it, I dont think he's going to want to part with it though.

Damn, so tempting. I haven't used the B/C is a long time but, I think I would miss it too much. I need a slim though my 60 is getting loud just sitting on the XMB.

I've seen a 360 traded in, and they simply plug in the power and AV cords, put in a disc, and start playing a game for 5-10 minutes to make sure the system plays the game. No real inspection that I saw.

As tempting as this is, I really like the OG 20 GB I have... can't let it go. :D

Yeah I think I might trade mine as well

Do they care if the warranty sticker is missing?

I can. I'm scared every day thinking it's gonna die for good. The thing goes into a new level of jet engine every couple months. I think this will be the only time I get a deal this good, but I don't know if I can get the rest for the Slim right now.

Good, I've been wanting a slim, but have been waiting for something like this to make the move.

How much of a hassle is it to transfer all your games, saves, and account things to a new PS3? I've only done it once, but with a 360. I have the fat 80GB.

It is account based, but you are only allowed to download your content on up to three different PS3/PSP systems.

Well, this is only hardware, the engineers, designers, and internal software devs at Sony/MS/Nintendo don't need to get paid so this is fine.

Why exactly is this deal going on? Are people in a rush to sell their PS3's? There is no new PS3 hardware coming out...
