Get your E3 Hotels quick

Hahaha! I live a half a mile fom Universal Studios. I might let someone crash at my place during E3.
Must enjoy marijuana though.....

I'm seriously thinking of staying at my usual spot near Buena Park and Anaheim, but taking the Metrolink this year instead of my car. $12 round trip for a day...

I'm entertaining the idea of hosting some gaffers if you just need some floor space to sleep on during the expo, but I know I would be wary of staying at a stranger's house, so I doubt anyone would take the offer. Is there a way to make sure I won't kill you in your sleep, or that you won't steal all my stuff?

Damn, that review is scathing. Seriously, guys, the Stillwell is crappy, but it's no worse than your average low-class motel. If you really need a place to stay, don't let it scare you.

I'm pissed you didn't acknowledge my ironing board reference ;)

I hardly felt in danger while staying at the hotel. I mean, I've temporarily lived in worse places in Toronto and NYC. But if I (we) can find a nicer and closer for $5 more, I would like to find this mythical place in LA during E3. I doubt it though...

I've got a room reserved at the GuestHouse Intl (Downtown). From May 8 until May 13th. Funny thing is I haven't done anything to get into the show because I just recently thought I'd be too busy to attend. I was going to go to conduct interviews with the executives for my research but at this point I'm not sure.

If you don't mind staying at small low budget motels I stayed at the Vermont Motel for E3 in 2000 and 2001. I think it was like $50 to $65 a night for a single.

Some of the positives were:
Free Playboy Channel *
Free Continental Breakfast
30 minute walk to the convention center
(there may be a bus that runs down Venice Blvd though)

Some of the negatives were:
Stubborn door locks (they were hard to open)
Carpet was really old and "felt" dirty
At night your in a "bad" part of down (though I never went out at night)
The place had "hourly rates" which makes makes wonder about the other guests

* Keep in mind that the last time I stayed there was over 5 years ago so any number of these things may have changed.

Anyone else staying at the Omni ? :-)

Oh, it's a spot to take a "Jump Off". Definetly not advised.

Dang, your surprised? Heck all the good ones were gone 4 months after previous E3 and I stopped going back in 98. I cant imagine how much worse it is now.

Don't mind them, they're BABIES. Let us real men handle the danger and excitement while they coddle themselves to sleep in fancy lad E3 hotels while we prove our worth as warriors. Plus I'm there just for E3 and only E3. At most I'll only be spending 6 hours a night there, luxury would be wasted and it's amazingly close to the convention center.

Try the Inn Towne hotel. It's barely advertised (plus it's not the nicest place), but it's about 2 blocks from the convention center.

INN TOWNE HOTEL, 213-628-2222

I think that's the #, so try it, and see what they have left!

You can try the New Otani as well. Expensive, and you'll need to take a cab to the CC. Tons of hot Asian girls though, makes it all worth while :D

The inntowne has been 'closed for rennovations' since like early 2003, it hasnt been reopened yet to the best of my knowledge,

We stayed there for three years, it rocked for the locatin and price.

edit: yup, i called, numbers still disconnected.

Also, the "Under the Wokano" beside it is the best asian food I've had in a long time. SPICYCHIKEN FTW!

Even though it's just a 2 hour drive for me from my house to the convention center, I'm tempted to stay in Anaheim. I can get a single weeknight AP rate at one of the Disney hotels there. I'm only going to E3 Thursday and Friday so it's easier to get a hotel for Thursday night than driving back and forth both days.
