That Bloodborne vid is still making me jelly, but I'm going to be fine with the 2TB SSHD I got. Couldn't really afford to shell out the cash for an ssd (with 2TB storage) due to big purchases being made recently. But definitely going to jump on the SSD train when PS5 comes around now.

I won't be the first to report but I will report in when I'm done. I have 560GB to transfer over, will be using the direct connect method via a CAT6 cable.

Just started my PS4 to Pro transfer via direct lan cable.

Have 560 GB to transfer, the system gave me an estimate of 91 minutes.

Started at 11:25, will update when it is done.

Just bought a Samsung 850 EVO 2TB SSD. WTH did I just do.

I'll probably keep it wrapped until more data comes in. But those Bloodborne load times have me hinging. Those are noticeable improvements over even the patched version on my 1TB SSHD in a OG PS4...

Kind of unrelated but when I backed up my SSD in my OG PS4 to an external HD, it took only two hours to save 300GB.

This is about twice as fast as the backup took when backing about the same size of files on a non-SSD HD.

It will fit, the adapter is because in some laptops the spacing will be so far off that the drive will be angled to the point it won't have a good connection and won't be detected by the motherboard.

Holy smokes, that looks REALLY promising. Throwing my 1TB 840 Evo in my Pro in 30 mins and starting restore process. Can't wait to test for myself.

Just got a 1TB HGST 7200 rpm drive for $60 at Frys.
That'll provide a consistent albeit slight performance boost.

The SSD numbers are a colossal disappointment.

I can't help but feel that Sony messed up on a few PRO features that would really make it standout

I can't say for sure but it's likely you downloaded the wrong update file.

There is an update file for people who already have the OS installed which is like 200-400 MB in size.

There is also a file that is specifically for people who replace the HDD. It's usually about 900MB.

Make sure you download the latter or go to http://ps4firmware.com and download the Recovery file.

I made this mistake too when I replaced the HDD on my original PS4.

That is probably the best, but you don't need the best in your PS4. A solid one will suffice.

On topic I was about to give up on SSD and just buy the Firecuda, but it is are impossible to buy online right now. If there are none in stock by Black Friday I'm going a SSD for sure. That footage of Bloodborne loading super fast might also nudge me that way

I'm sticking with the Pro stock.

I own a traveler 7200rpm from my old PS4.. But, figured I'd go stock or get that the Firecuda.. I'd rather put that $100 towards games. If the stock hard drive doesn't hold up, then I'll revisit the Firecuda next summer, no rush.

Ok after updating the game to latest version it's now 17 seconds, but still - that's quite an improvement from a slower HDD! 23 to 17 is a 30% quicker load!

Currently downloading GTA but it'll take forever so likely won't be able to test for ~12hours

I have 2 TB Samsung spinpoint 5400 I believe in my standard Ps4.

Is the stock Pdo Hard drive fast or just standard and improved a bit with Sata 3 ?

Would the pro stock drive be faster ?

I made this mistake too when I replaced the HDD on my original PS4.

What kind of File System does the USB drive that has the firmware on it, need to be? Fat32? exFat? Does "master boot record" need to be set as the partition scheme?

I think an SSD is a waste for a console that is designed to run with HDDs.

You get less storage and pay way more for little improvement in performance.

A console is not a PC, where you can download drivers and optimize everything at will

Know this has probably been asked, if I already have a 1TB SSHD in my PS4 can I simply take that out and put it in my Pro and it will boot up without having to reset anything?
