Getting into WoW and/or FFXI this late in the game: possible?

I bought city of heros a week ago and i got into great and so far im loving it.

CoH/CoV is great. The community is awesome and it's relatively easy to find party members, unless you're on at the difficult times of night when it seems like practically no one is on.. I wish they'd combine some of the servers or something. The bad thing is, it gets old after a while because a lot of things are just very repetitive.. But it's definitely worth checking out if you have an interest in it. I had a lot of fun when I played.

The experience you take from any MMO will depend largely on the circle of people you regularly play with. If you develop no contacts of poor ones, then any non solo activity will be frustrating or impossible. If you find good friends, they not only become an asset and help in game, but the social interaction greatly enhances the game experience.

Most of the content from 1-70 in WoW can be done solo, so you are less dependent on finding a good group of people (a Guild, in WoW terms) to enjoy the game at this phase. Once you reach 70 however, being in a good guild allows you to continue to advance your character much more rapidly and with less frustration.

No matter which MMO you choose the most important advice you can get is: find a group of knowledgeable, skilled, and friendly people to play with. It makes the group content enjoyable rather than a chore.

I played WoW pretty much all solo but really, it made it far more boring. Everything in the MMO world feels so empty when playing alone. But I couldn't stand the community so I didn't want to risk partying.. :(

Oh and another thing on CoH/CoV, it doesn't really matter what level you are. If you have friends or what not that are higher/lower level than you, you're able to still play with them. Which I really like.

See now City of Heroes/Villains really appeals to me. How is the low level game?
CoH/CoV is pretty awesome in the low levels.

But then level 30 happens. Then CoH/CoV becomes the most repetitive, mind numbing chore of a Hulk sized GRIND you'll face.

I really like CoH/CoV, it is one of my favorite MMOs, but theres just no going back for me.

In 2v2 Arena PVP....that's it. Blzz said 2v2 is not a balance priority.

In 5v5 Arena PVP, Resto Druid suck wildly.

Wait till you come across (unless they've already passed you in rating) a new FOTM.

The mana drain/CC QQ team.

5vs5: Holy Paladin, Resto Druid, Discpline Priest, SL/Fel Guard warlock, and Hunter.

3vs3: Resto Druid, Discpline Priest, SL/SL Warlock.

Anything with a mana bar gets wrecked pretty quickly. (If you're a mage facing this group don't bother trying.)

I have been to part D on two separate occasions, k thanks.

Twice in a BT guild and quit? Don't think so. Good thing the world can prove with armory link to your char.

I started WoW up again over the summer (had a lvl 40ish pally from when it 1st came out), the biggest problem I see facing newbies is the lingo. Everyone and I do me everyone uses abbreviations. Once I hit 70 I got ass loads of tells asking if I wanted to heal in ???. If you are just starting try to find a data base of all the abbreviations in wow and have it next to you at all times.

Unlike MMORPG of old, you can lvl up pretty fast with knowing very little about the game.

It has been so long since I played WoW and I still love the game. I sit here and read these threads just to pretend I'm still playing. How sad is that?

You're not alone. I remember when I first stopped playing I'd visit the WoW forums when I got bored, and today I stop by the WoW Official Thread and listen to "Legendary Thread" just to know what the hell is going on in the world of WoW.
