If anybody has the correct answer on how to do this for the average joe they would be a bajillionaire.
It's on of life's great mysteries. How to get a 6 pack.
How is this going to help him reduce stomach fat?
If he's lifting and running a lot, he could eat more than that and still lose fat. It's easier to trim if you do it slow and easy.
I'm lifting and running 4-5 days a week. As far as diet goes I'm eating lean meats and lots of veggies. I've been doing this for two weeks and have lost 6lbs so I feel like I'm on the right track. Just wondering if people had any other advice that could help.
You need to run.

Dont listen to this guy
I'm reading this thread as I'm about to make my third gym trip this week.
I've been doing chest & arm focusing for about 3 months and aiming for 1500-1600 calories a day. Protein shakes, currently 216 pounds (6 feet tall). I keep avoiding it, but it's probably time to cut carbs down if I want to thin up a bit more.

Running is a great core exercise and a great way to lose weight all around and improve overall health. Swimming, in warm water, is also helpful in these areas.Does this work?
I mean, of course exercise works, but will running deal with stomach fat?

Are you doing anything to target your core specifically?
Weight lifting is a lot more effective than just cardio alone. Your eating habits are the most important to losing weight.
legs? back? shoulders?
Lots of mat exercises like crunches and other variants I learned from a personal trainer (who's names escape me). She drilled into me that a strong core is key to many exercises and should be a top priority.
I don't know what other exercises you are doing but drop the crunches and start doing something like hanging leg raises, variations of l-sits, ab rollers and dragon flags.

Once he burns fat, then he can focus on more muscle-building exercises.
Changing one's diet also helps, but caloric burning is far more effective.
I like to pretend I'm ignorant so someone can tell me it's going to be alright even when I know I'm fucking up, but I had a whole wheat bagel with cream cheese this morning, and I usually have this every morning. Must I cut this shit out? I've stagnated with my weight loss. I hit my plateau about six months ago and I've really stopped losing weight. My stomach is what bothers me most. I do cardio several times a week, and yes I eat bad here and there, but for the most part I try to keep a 1500 daily calorie intake limit, but it doesn't seem to be losing me fat anymore.
I'm with the OP, stomach fat is a fucking bastard. Any suggestions? How much would a total veggie and lean meat diet help?
Those should all be in addition to squats , deadlifts, cleans etc. They were always the bonus exercises after doing the main lifts.
abs are made in the kitchen.
This is the only correct answer
Because it will help him develop muscles that will make exercises easier. So if you're running, working on your leg muscles will help you do that.
I just woke up so I'm a bit out of it but the bottom line is that your body will change as a whole. You can't do just arm exercises and think that things are going to change. Cardio is great and watching what you eat is super important. I like eating a lot of fruit and meat, and I've been exercising every day. Getting into a routine is hard, but it will work if you give it time.
