Gex Trilogy Announced (PC/PS/Xbox/Switch) - Limited Run Games

Feeling It Charlie Day GIF by First We Feast

I am thoroughly whelmed by that trailer.

Not sure how else to put it.

Will there be a digital release?
Interested in the games, but there's just no way that I am getting up from my armchair to insert a disc in order to play a game.

I still don't get how shit like takes over 2 years to be made.
Seriously. And Nightdive's SS remake took like 7.

I don't understand how you take so long when the premise, story, characters and level design have all been done for you.

Modders on the internet build shit for free in their spare time faster than this.

I played the demo for the first game a million times on my Windows 95 computer. It was on some disc but I wish I could remember what it was called. Then I played the demo for Gex: Enter the Gecko on the PS1 a lot.

"Never buy marmalade from a man wearing a top hat." What does it mean when Gex says this?

Japanese box art for Gex: Enter the Gecko known over there as Spin Tail (スピンテイル, Supin Teiru).

I remember having fun with these games back in the day and while I loathe LRG, I'll probably pick these up.

That trailer feels... strange.
It announces native widescreen, then continues to show the footage in 4:3.
Also what's with that off-white on the end screen?

Maybe trying to mirror 90s trailers, or maybe just not very well produced.

Man, it even has the polygon wobble and texture warping of the original PSX version. You can have a much better experience playing it on duckstation, with the geometry and texture precision hacks and downsampling (and of course widescreen)... So, what's the point?

Do real people even buy from LRG, or are collector's just buying this landfill of used parts in the shape of a game and selling it to other collector's on ebay for a higher price?

the hate for emulation and the carbon engine is insane i get the hate for lrg as a whole but the hate the carbon engine????????????????????

It's not hate for Emulation itself, it's hate for Lazy Emulation. Look at this, MGS1, Tomba, etc, you got much better results using Duck station for free, there's zero reasons why these PS1 emulations should have any kind of bugs, issues, slowdowns, etc when they're being sold when there's a free emulator right there literally running laps around the "premium" sold ones.

i have no clue what went wrong with mgs1 considering it was m2 who did the work.

Sadly it comes down to work Vs passion, M2 made the emulator because they were contracted to, Duck station is headed by a quality obsessed autistic, you're not going to match years of that kind of work. Which is why I don't get it, they could just license and adapt Duck Station.

Well the Gex Trilogy doesn't work on Switch 2. It's a known issue and LRG said they will be patching it. Launches with weird artifacts and picture never shows. Once again LRG fucks it up. Game launches a week after the Switch 2 launches and it won't work on it. Idiots. How incompetent can they be.

Fortunately I have my Switch 1 handy. But, since I installed it on my Switch 2, I can't just go into the store to redownload it on the Switch 1. No, it's a 'virtual card' aka digital download. It requires the Switch 2 to be nearby and online in order to move it over. Apparently you can't have your purchased games on more than one system. Even if it's your profile. That's BS and a pain in the ass.

Are the people that are dangerously attracted to anthropomorphic lizards considered furries or is there a separate term for scaly reptile enjoyers? Asking for a friend.

Just as an edit: Did not one person at Square Enix or Limited Run test this release in a new Switch 2? Only works in Switch 1 currently.

They say they will patch....but I believe other collections using the 'carbon engine' haven't been patched either.

If this is the future of Switch 1 games on Switch 2 then it's going to be messy, especially since you need to keep 'loading' the virtual card (digital purchase) from one system to the other to test. Can play on both systems with same account, unless it's 'removed' from one and 'loaded' on another. Such BS.
