The Warhammer talk is painful. It's soooooo wrong. ALL starting cities are part of the game. The only thing that was taking out was the 4 classes and 4 major cities.

Edit: I was very excited to see Jeff have a good impression about the game. But Ryan! You dashed his hopes away! Booo! But you're still way awesome.

Yeah, I was bummed to hear how much Ryan was down on Warhammer given what we know. Cuts are never good, but it doesn't mean that the game is going to be bad because they had to trim some fat. I don't see it as a huge problem at the end of the day that they have 20 classes available instead of 24. I'm not exactly going to be able to play every class. And I was always worried from a balance perspective of having so many different tanks each with three fields of mastery.

I don't think that the capital cities are analogous to starting zones either.

I found this episode to be hilarious! Maybe it was just the overall random nature. But I really enjoyed the talk about E3 and Battlegrounds.

Shawn, we enjoy hearing you talk about games! You can always find an audience for your stories here on GAF.

Jen Tsao works surprisingly well on the Brodeo. I absolutely hated EGM Live and she was one of the main reasons. But she's been enjoyable with the GFW crew and has made good contributions to the discussions. She's a 2/2 so far, I'd be happy to see her come back.

Jen is a bro.

Ohoho.

But yeah I like her.

Other commentary: As has been pointed out, the WAR cuts aren't nearly as bad as Ryan thought. The starting cities are still all accounted for! Still ridiculous, but not as bad as what was said.

I personally like the in-depth analysis. So there are people out here who care, Shawn! (Though I can't tell if you were being entirely serious or not when you mentioned that.) Sometimes you guys dig into games I don't particularly care about, but I still find it interesting. Hell, I've never played Company of Heroes (always wanted to, though).

Good episode all around.

I agree (minus the hating EGM Live part, although admittedly, I wasn't much of a fan).

I actually like the interaction between her and Shawn. They ask good questions of each other, and both are pretty quick to respond with well-thought-out, well-articulated replies.

Jen apparently knows a whole lot more about Baldur's Gate 2 than Jeff (must've been the extreme hangover when you visited Bioware), Shawn (guess you hadn't gotten into PC gaming at that point), or Ryan (not enough islands and polar bears), so I approve.

Hmm...when I try to listen to this episode on my iPod it stops at around the 52 minute mark, but I can listen to it fine in iTunes. Does anyone have an idea why this happens, or any way to fix it?

I had the same problem (though around the 28 min mark). I had to delete it and download it again (twice!) in iTunes and then sync with my iPod before I was able to fix the problem. Very very weird. Though, I often have problems with 1up podcasts because they use the unreliable variable bitrate. Bad idea.

Really liked Jen on the podcast. Would be great if she could become a regular.

Yep. I wasn't a big fan of EGM Live, but it's great to hear another enthusiastic old-school PC Gamer on GFW. She complements the group very well.

Virgin Airlines sounds amazing. This sounds so foreign from the last flight I went on.

I don't know if the Virgin Airlines controller I'm googling is the one Jeff was raving about, but it doesn't look any different from any Asian airline controller.

I flew Eva Air 3 times in the last 4 years and they have a similar controller. I was playing Zuma, Bejeweled, etc. No Doom though :)

Yeah, I've been pretty honest about my gaming blind spots. I couldn't afford a computer in that era.
