Ghost in the Shell Online First Connection Debut Trailer

This trailer has me terribly worried how the game will eventually turn out.

...I'll still probably play the shit out of it though sadly, because...GitS.

Won't be funner than this..

Make a new gen version of that please

Coincidentally, I just played it for the first time a couple weeks ago on PCSX2, unfortunately it doesn't emulate wonderfully. Makes me want to pick up an actual copy for something more playable. The game seems pretty cool, if very dated.

Is this piracy talk?

Anyone else notice that when they get headshots (brain cases, presumably cyborgs I'm guessing), it's a shower of red as opposed to a cream/white color?

I seem to recall in SAC and 2nd Gig that it generally wasn't a spatter of red.

Then again I'm just nitpicking I suppose. ;p

I think my brain just exploded...

GitS + Platinum Games

WHY ISN'T THIS A THING!?

It would obviously be a perfect match. The potential would be huge, but meh... It's not happening.

That said, I'll give this one a try tbh. I mean, I'm such an annoyingly big GitS fanboy, that i had goosebumps by watching gameplay of a generic FPS with a GitS skin.

Think about the end of SAC when they were about to board the plane. It was definitely red.

How do the Appleseed video games fare? I'm wondering if any of them adapt the manga and not the movies. PS2 game was based on the new millennium movies, but what about the SFC action game and the 1988 one?

My point is, I didn't see any variation of this in the trailer. Yes, it's nitpicking, but IMO it signals that some details were perhaps skipped.

Ah I see your point :) I wouldn't be surprised that details were skipped; it is Nexon and it will probably just be a cash-grab.

Problem being it's just a GitS skin on a F2P shooter.

As other users have stated before me, as a GitS fan, I'm drooling all over myself. But as a gamer? Eh.

I've been itching to play a cyberpunk shooter for awhile and I love GitS so I'll definitely check this game out. I will then probably drop it quickly due to it being either mediocre and full of pay-to-win crap.

Are there any cyberpunk online shooters that are still pretty populated? I tried playing Neotokyo a few years ago and just couldn't find anyone to play with.

Incidentally anyone ever play the PS2 or PSP GiTS games?

The PS2 game was fricking awesome.

what the...

I have only watched the 2 movies but I liked them.

Ill play this as Im a sucker for F2P and I did like Blacklight. I know that is perfect world but nexon aint so bad.

Too bad this wont be playable for months and months.

I guess, I'd download just to give it a try but...

I desperately want a FPSRPG SAC game, but that'll never happen.

Neotokyo got a proper Steam release this past summer, so it got a boost on popularity. You should give it a go again.

This strikes me as Republic Commando with a GiTS skin, I really hope it plays more like Deus Ex HR and not sure a shooter with a constant battle or run & gun feel.

Blacklight Retribution? Does have consumables and rentable weapons, though.

Much of a boost? I wanted to try it again, but if numbers are too low. :/

It's easy to find a 2-3 active servers every night where before it rellied on friday / saturday nights arranged by the community.

Just checked and there's a 20/30 server going on (europe).

The trailer impressed me to be honest. And this is coming from a person who tends to avoid "call of dooty" shooters.

It looks better than I expected visually but I'm entirely burned out on online shootbang (especially if it's going to be freemium). I'd take pretty much any kind of single player game they wanted to make as long as they execute it well. Isometric tactical, TPS, FPS, RPG-- literally anything that doesn't have me shooting 13 year olds and talking into a mic.

Oshii made the right choices in adapting the manga in both movies. He cut out a lot of shit that went nowhere and fluff. The nudity in Oshi''s films was very tasteful as well. I hated the tachikoma's as well.

The manga isn't very good IMHO. Has good concepts but compared to the movies and SAC? Nah. The art for the 2nd manga is great but the story goes absolutely nowhere and drowns in techno-babble.

There are interesting ideas, but this is looking like just another team based shooter sadly...

I wanted to love the PS2 game but I couldn't for one reason: I can only assume that they got the license for the series but somehow didn't get the license to use the art.

The PSP game was ok too IIRC. Not fantastic but I enjoyed it and at least it resembled the series more.

I agree with you about the relative qualities of SAC and Man Machine Interface, but the movies? They lost all the humour and character the manga had, and for that sacrifice they still weren't all that deep. They were like that person who spends way too much time telling everyone how clever they are, without actually demonstrating it. Don't tell me how deep or clever you are, show me by making me have to think. Aesthetically beautiful yes, but hollow IMO.

I actually really liked this game! It was pretty terrible, but at the time I played it the anime cutscenes were enough to keep me going. I really had fun bouncing around as a Tachikoma.

I guess I'm a picky fan, but I always prefer to have Motoko in 2D rather than a 3D render. To me she always looks off, especially in the opening to Stand Alone Complex.

With GITS SAC is the best it gets, and in that she wears

for the majority of the series.

It's a sleek design made for animation, I'll give you that. But I've always preferred the outfits from the manga. Shirow just designed such cool stuff for her!

This one was always my favorite, gave me a real "Aliens" vibe.
