Ghost of Yoti New Gameplay Trailer

I guess it's talking about the graphic. Honestly the thing I noticed immediately it's the same flat ground of the prequel. I really don't get it the reason behind such issue, especially with the snow the ground appears as a long flat surface from the ps2 era without sign of tesselation.

The graphic is just snippets from various locales. Can't really gauge much from that as far as content.

I can tell you I have enough played the prequel to say the ground is horrid with this engine and nothing seems changed. When there isn't the grass, it's incredible bad to look with a very limited use of the poligons.

Eh...finished the first game on PS4 and played the director's cut last year. Seems fine to me. But I'm not talking about the ground. Talking about content in the game.

I love the game. But graphic was rough in some spots on ps4 and I see the same flaws in the sequel which is really disappointing.

Just wanted to leave these random observations here:

You can see the Matsumae castle from the announcement trailer in this shot!

Given the orientation, Atsu is approaching it from opposite directions

And someone decided to record the exact same shot with and without a mask in 2 different trailers.

And this decapitation shot with "Heavenly Strike" looks fantastic. The snow actually looks like snow with great sub surface scattering. They should have chosen a location like this to show the Kusarigama in action. Whichever marketing intern did that other snippet... just fire them.

Great observations, tho you should say "dismembrement" instead of "decapitation" :messenger_grinning_sweat:
I know it is not much but seriously the absence of decapitation was a shame in the first one, and i hope they have it in this one.

No matter how many times you post this, people will underestimate how far to the right we are at this point. There's only so far you can go with geometry. I prefer the focus on art style myself, and this clearly looks better than GoT, albeit not massively but the people saying there's no improvement are just being disingenuous at this point.

Better get used to it, we're in the era of diminishing returns people.

Then explain me how many other games mananged to look a generation better but not yotei...

Fucking chinese and koreans devs making their first big game massacre sony technical prowess and people still talk about diminishing returns to defend these lazy fucks.

Let's reach this level of INGAME PLAYABLE graphic, physics, multiple ai on screen, etc. etc. etc. at 60 fps on a console before we even start talking about being close to photorealism, shall we?!

Yes you need more power for the same type of jump but we are nowhere close to real time graphic end game.

By the time we get to the type of action that's in your gif we'll all likely be dead or near it. How many games actually look a generation better though? Almost every thread for every game in these forums has some chucklefuck going "This looks last gen". Instead of using any extra processing power to increase density of npcs and environments they're using it to increase polys in models that are already good enough and on ray tracing and effects that current systems are barely capable of handling. I agree with you that games can look better, but not with what we've got right now.

Yotei is going for a softer more stylized look, kind of the Nintendo route, and I don't think there's anything wrong with that and there's room for it in the market. I prefer it to them making another grimdark soulslike.

I hope for the day. I remember when looking at FFVIII CG cutscenes for the first time and I was like one day we'll play like that. And we have with games like Horizon and some others.

What you showed is what I'd like to see and until we get it, I don't think there's diminishing returns yet but lack of current skills with devs to reach it (or maybe due to budget).

Not to derail too much, but I would love to play an FPS game that LOOKED like this in game:

You can also advance the stylized look like quite a bit.

Its fine if you are happy with the visuals but its also fine when people criticize the shit out of it because it looks disappointing to them after five years of no cross gen development.

This is a FREE TO PLAY Chinese Ghost of Tsushima. Just compare the scope of both games, the NPC density, combat, exploration and whatever you like. Sony has no excuse.

Ah my bad. Dismemberment indeed!

They already had decapitations for mongol leaders though…

You are right i forgot about leader decapitations (and maybe ghost stance too ?).
So there is really no excuse to not have them in Yotei, not only on leaders but on grunts also !

Yeah diminishing returns is such a bizarre argument. I remember being absolutely floored by this CGI trailer 11 years ago. PS7, mayyyy be?

I love the game. But graphic was rough in some spots on ps4 and I see the same flaws in the sequel which is really disappointing.

I'm not too fussed over graphics these days. AC Shadows looked incredible, but the game was incredibly average. Ghost of Tsushima was so much more fun to play and it wasn't even close. For all the games we get that are are muddy and have seemingly broken images and effects that do nothing but make things look worse on console, I'm happy with simpler, cleaner graphics. Take a game like Jedi Survivor. It could have had the same exact graphical fidelity as Jedi Order and bumped the game up to 60fps and would have been great. Instead it was a mess. So my expectations for Ghost of Yotei's graphics are not much and I'm fine with that.

How the do you translate people asking for better graphic into turning the game in a grimdark souls? What?

The level of detail doesn't change the art direction or genre you wanna make, you can have both art design an graphic prowess, one doesn't exclude the other.

This is a bad, bad excuse for lazy devs thant didn't pushed a generationl jump like other devs did, it has nothing to do with turning the game into another thing.

Ac shadows is mediocre despite the graphic, not because of it, just saying.

You're being hyperbolic as fuck. The game looks fine and most of what we've seen so far have been through ridiculously compressed streams. I'm just saying they went for softer more diffuse lighting, with color palettes that are a bit lighter and brighter instead of this grim realistic game.

I'll be playing it, skip it if you don't want to. It's that simple.

Dude read the room, i'm hardly being hyperbolic when 90% of the topic agree that the game barely looks better than sushi1 and probably worse than the best ps4 titles like tlou2.
If you exclude the usual sony apologists and fanboys that can't say anything negative about it, it's probably even more than 90%.

3 years old crossgen hfw absolutely demolish this thing.

This forum exists on hyperbole. If I wanted an average opinion I wouldn't get it here.

Do you people want 60 fps? Or giant battles with fuck tons of NPCs? Or hyper detailed everything? You gotta pick one cuz you ain't getting all of it at this point.

Again, 3 years old crssgen hfw has a very good looking performance mode at 60 that demolish yotei graphically, and i bet my left testicle that fighting multiple hyper detailed dinobot that can destroy part of the prompts in the scenario like trees, rocks and wood structures while they spew lasers and missiles at you, is way more heavy on the rendering budget than fighting 10 badly rendered mongols at once with barely any interaction or physics involved if the game is like tsushi1 (and we haven't seen any jump in destruction or physics in the trailers, so...).

I could bet my remaning testicle that the bigger village of horizon is bigger and has more npcs with unique animations than the best village in yotei because it's clear they cutted this game budget, but women around the world would cry in anguish if they manage to disprove me somehow :lollipop_squinting:

Dozens of games with 60 fps and better graphics.

I would be fine with it if they would sell it at a reduced price like 2k did with mafia.

Honestly I'm convinced most of you don't even like games at this point. It looks fine and fun, even if it doesn't look bleeding edge. I still think it's going to look better in person than the shitty compressed streams are portraying. I guess we'll see in about 6 weeks.

People complain about budgets, and unfinished games, and poor performance, and everything else. A dev shows up with a full game, an evolution from the first if not a revolution, and it probably won't be a non performant pile of shit like 90% of what gets released these days and it's still not enough. You all need to pick a lane.

And on that Chinese game - How many people are working on it? There's no info. Making a big sprawling game is easy enough when you've got large underpaid teams. We don't even know if these projects are on the same scale.

if not a revolution,

What do you mean. Is it the revenge story, the ac shadows story structure or the rock paper scissors combat system which is so generic as well. Why did they kicked the stances out of the game?

The tech is just the icing on the cake.

I have no answers to the rock paper scissors or stances question, I'm curious to see how it will play myself. I'm not gonna sit here and complain about though it without having tried it or getting some actual reviews.

And realistically this game and Shadows were being developed concurrently through most of their cycle. Do you want them to go back and just restart dev from the beginning just because some other shittier company released a game first? Shadows itself is biting pretty hard from Tsushima. I'm sure if they knew exactly what AC Shadows was doing they could have adjusted 4 or 5 years ago, but this is real life and this shit just aint feasible.

Of course they couldn't adjust it but Assassin's creed is considered generic so in conclusion we have to say the same about GOY.

I mean, you can say it, but the fact is I have a hell of a lot more faith in Sucker Punch to not give us a steaming pile of shit than I do Ubisoft.

Do you think SP will bring something new to the table? We haven't seen anything so far. What makes you think they stay quiet for the innovations until they release their game?

I will be really surprised if this scores any higher than low 80s.

All I want is a samurai adjacent story. I liked the first I just assume I'm going to like the second. I'm not expecting them to reinvent the wheel and I'm assuming it will be at a similar level of quality to their last titles.

I mean, you're probably right honestly about it being samey, but I know what I like and this looks up my alley.

Lol I see you some peoples about them liking yoti taking Nintendo bullshit graphics root , this the most bullshit and true fact on the same time, from bullshit perspective this types of games need to have good graphics as much as possible lol, even from software add rt to their games on the other hands it's true that until now sony first party studios party (graphics programmers) lazy moth.. Fucke.. Lay on their ass watching small indie and Chinese studios making games that looks gen ahead of any of their games

Ehh, I'd argue the people calling it samey are just haters that don't know or care about the details. They changed exploration, combat and added companions. Those are big changes for a sequel that took a few years. Not to mention a new location and protagonist.
The part I roll my eyes at is just that the story sounds like like AC Shadows. Why is it always childhood drama, killed my family, going after a group of dudes responsible. However they did say it's more than just a revenge storyline, so we'll see.

Lol,They spent whole 5 or more years to add companions, new main character model, some new combat mechanics and locations with exact same resources, last gen models and graphics ? Really why not releasing it for ps4 considering all of their doing are possible on it, lol even games like Gow ragnorok, HFW and Lou 2 on ps4 looks better than it and have amazing combat and animations,
