Ghostbusters Trailer 2

Ghostbusters II was garbage compared to the first one. I would agree that the old cartoon writers could cook up something more entertaining than what we got. Perhaps my problem is that they're taking a concept or idea and trying to put a modern spin on it. Remake, reboot or even formulaic to a point-- whatever it is, to your point, the chemistry is just not there. The trailers try to make you feel good about what you're going to see, however it comes off as cheap cash in to a franchise that quite frankly isn't a cheap Hollywood comedy. Ghostbusters humor was found in the overall quirkiness of the each of the characters defects. Together, they were terrible but somehow together, they just clicked. Not getting that feeling at all from these horrible trailers.

I suppose as a fan, I expected more. Also for those hating on downvoting, opinions man.

I guess you're just going to skip explaining the connections, so I'll just pretend you did

1. You're probably going to compare McKinnon's character to Ramis', despite the fact that McKinnon's personality is diametric to Ramis' in the films, and is an engineer. The closest comparison between the two is that she has the hair of cartoon Egon.
2. None of the characters have Murray's character's personality. I see a lot of people suggesting that McKinnon or Wiig are Murray (which really kind of exemplifies why the idea of them being genderswaps of the original is silly), but there's really nothing there.
3. I could see Wiig being Akyroyd, but the connection is super slim - she is just the lead type. She's as much the Wiig of the movie as she is the Leonardo of the movie.
4. Jones and Hudson are black, that's pretty much it

I dunno. Looks kinda boring. Kinda feel like the movie is "not for me". I think anyone who really, really likes Ghostbusters 2 and wants to see a modern reimagination of it might be excited though. Maybe? That's what it looks like to me.
Nope I really disliked this trailer as well, I think it's as bad as the first one, It's possible the movie is not for me either and I love both Ghostbusters 1 and 2. This trailer makes me even more worried about the movie in general, I can still hope it's good but I doubt it even more.

The main thing I liked from the trailer is the redid ghostbusters music.

Ghostbusters II was garbage compared to the first one.
Ghostbusters II gets way to much hate, it's still a really good movie.

Much better trailer. I like the idea of Hemsworth as the bad guy.
I'm still not 100% sold on this just because I don't think Paul Feig is a good action-comedy director but I'm hoping for the best.

"It's" "better" "than" "the" "last" "trailer" "for" "sure!"

"We" "got" "Marshmallow" "Man!"

Did you really just put up a "wall of shame" for people not liking a trailer and daring to say they down voted it?

Ridiculous, the only one I would say needs questioning is the "did my part" post.

Did you really just erect a bully tower to rain shame on people critiquing others who claimed they downvoted a trailer they didn't like?

Did I really just call you out for the bully tower erection to rain shame on people critiquing others who claimed they downvoted a trailer they didn't like?

Then they came for me, and there was no one left to speak for me.

I'm slowly realizing I'd have preferred Jason Moore to direct this than Feig if the all female reboot has to exist. Much prefer Pitch Perfect and Sisters to any movie Feig has done.

Good trailer, but just once can we get a mixed cast and not have a dumb race joke? The crowd surfing joke was cringe worthy.

Other than that, it looks good.

Yeah, that punchline didn't even make sense in the context of the scene. Why would her inability to crowdsurf be a "woman thing", when McCarthy's character did it like seconds ago. It just struck me as a pandering joke that just seemed shoehorned in.

Overall, this trailer was better than the first, but as someone who hasn't fully sat through any of the original Ghostbusters, none of this is moving the needle for me. I do like the angle of Hemsworth becoming the villain though, and Kate McKinnon seems to really own her role--I think she'll be the breakout star.

Hm, it was a better trailer than the first, but it seems like the movie just doesn't have a single funny joke. I'm really wondering what the target audience is for this movie, because judging from the trailers this movie is all over the place.

MUCH better edited trailer than the first one. Personally though I'm still not all that excited about this, I mean I guess the effects look good but the comedy bits just don't seem all that funny to me.

Looks ok. Will still see it in theaters so I can talk about it and not be apart of "that" crowd 😒

McKinnon needs more bits.

And it looks like that leak about the boss battle was true.

Aw man try and watch the first one at least. It's still amazing to this day.

Such a better trailer. Should have lead with it. Makes me want to see it again.

Problem is trailers can be big liars for the tone of the film.

Both trailers were different tones. Which is more accurate?

Also talks about the ghostbusters logo being the big bad ghost at the end of the movie.

Yeah, but if we want to really specific, that was leaked through a toy before the first trailer. There was a GAF thread about it.

But yeah, it's essentially confirmed that the Reddit leaker has seen the movie. He could've also made stuff up, though. If he's totally accurate though, there should be a
queef
joke in this movie. So that should be great.

lmao how can you get worse than the first?

At least hire a better editor for your trailers, saying bottom-of-the-barrel references like "We need a bigger boat!" should at least have some impact and not just be another shot that is glanced over.

Trailer was better then the last one. I think this movie will end up being solid. Also I expect Kate to be one of the highlights of it and she was barely in the trailer so that could be good.

When he's not massive, Hemsworth's neck looks really, really, really long.

Is she? I thought her last couple of movies bombed.

Maybe, but SPY was pretty damn good.

I know I should, it's just up there with Back to the Future as 80's movies I never got around to seeing.

I feel like most of my exposure to Ghostbusters has been through spin off projects like the cartoon and video game which never really grabbed me, so I never sought out seeing the original film.

i never got into the originals so i don't know what it is about this new movie that's making people hate it. i get that it lacks the legendary actors and replaced them with an all female team, is that really all it is?

Emphasis on the female part.

Now I don't claim that the dislikes aren't as high as they are in part because of people who actually dislike the trailer, but the trailers aren't nearly bad enough for it to be the most disliked of all time without influence from the people who came out against it before we knew anything about it besides the gender of the cast.

Oh so it was obvious huh?

To your points,
1.) McKinnon looks to fill the roll of Ramis being the "science nerd" as it shows her developing a trap which correct me if I'm wrong, but Egon worked on containment within the first movie. Hmm, interesting.
2.) Correct, however, Wiig is assumed to the shoe in replacement for him even tho his stick was "junk" science. The whole "Dr." tag was also very loosely based on the fact that he had his Ph.D; I'm guessing Wiig (as the trailers has shown) gets the social science part of it but has some short comings (aka as Peter) which is nicely filled in from the rest of the cast.
3.) McCarthy being Stantz is reduction to the finest as Ray and Ego developed the tool set that they used-- seems to be the same thing here.
4.) Jones and Hudson being African American, again, seems overly simplified way of a shout out to the former cast.

Anyways, still is a hot mess.

Better trailer. It went from dumpster fire trailer to a meh trailer. I should also add that it pretty much showed the whole movie even the climax so maybe don't watch it if you want to see the movie.

The crowd avoided her because she was heavy.

Well, the setup and punchline make no sense.

It starts with Melissa McCarthy jumping, and the people catching her. Melissa is also a heavier woman, so the idea of "dropping the fat person" doesn't really make sense. Even if you say Melissa is not as big, the gag isn't very clear.

Then the punchline is "Was that a race thing or a lady thing?" But the crowd just caught Melissa's character, who is also a lady, so why would she ask that? Clearly the reasoning is that she is black, but the joke is poorly executed and falls flat (no pun intended).

How I would do this joke:

They're at a club/concert that is clearly skinhead or neo-Nazi affiliated (think along the lines of "Green Room"). The people are freaked out and terrified. Ghostbusters come to save the day. Crowd surf scene plays out the same. Make comment about how even when she's trying to save their asses, they still treat her poorly and drop her.

/racially motivated crowd surfing joke

The Reddit leak was the first one to talk about a green dragon ghost at a rock concert. It was before the international trailer.

I think also talked about possessed parade balloons.
It talked about the ghost from the Logo being the final big ghost they fight

Wait till a weekend or weekday off, grab some popcorn, crack a beer (or soft drink) and kick back for nearly 2 hours.

The 2nd one is quite good as well, but the first is a masterpiece of its time.

I just hope this thread isn't going to devolve into people defending Robocop 3 like in the other thread.

There was even someone who thought Robocop 3 was better than the original. Think about that.
