I'm not seeing it!

...unless there's a Baroness/Lady Jaye make-out scene.

Which ones are you missing?

Flint and the Cobra Officer from the first wave. :\

And I don't know if this has been posted; but it's an official press release from Hasbro from a few weeks back:

October 30, 2007
Message to G.I Joe Fans

Hasbro’s G.I. Joe Team wanted to take this opportunity to clarify some of the facts regarding the G.I. Joe live-action movie that we are developing with Paramount Pictures.

First and foremost, we are not changing what the G.I. Joe brand is about. The name “G.I. Joe” will always be synonymous with bravery and heroism.

The G.I. Joe brand has enjoyed a successful 43-year history, spanning two key generations. The first was the line of 12-inch “realistic military” figures that were popular with kids in the 1960s and 1970s.

The second generation, was created in 1982, and is based on a cast of fictional heroes and villains that make up the “G.I. Joe vs. Cobra” fantasy. The premise of this fantasy is the story of the G.I. Joe team, led by Duke, and their “fight for freedom wherever there is trouble” against the evil Cobra Commander and his Cobra force. This storyline was an instant hit with kids in the early 1980s, spawning a highly popular 3-3/4-inch action figure line, comic book collection and animated series.

This movie will be a modern telling of the “G.I. Joe vs. Cobra” storyline and its compelling characters that Hasbro created 25 years ago. The G.I. Joe team will not be based in Brussels. Instead, they will be based out of the “Pit” as they were throughout the 1980s comic book series. And, in keeping with the G.I. Joe vs. Cobra fantasy, the movie will feature characters and locations from around the world. Duke, the lead character and head of the G.I. Joe team, will embody the values of bravery and heroism that the first generation of G.I. Joe figures established.

G.I. Joe is a very important property to Hasbro and we thank all of our fans for their enthusiasm. Without all of you, the brand would not be where it is today.

Thank you.

Having in Snake Eyes, a veteran soldier who is severely disfigured and has no vocal chords, is not going to fly with a studio (and an audience) that are looking for characters that they can put on the front of a cereal packet.

Bullshit, fool!

Cool ninjas flipping out and fucking shit up is universal!

The fact that he doesn't say shit is even better since there will be no wasted dialogue.

I'm telling you man. Snake Eyes fight scenes done right, will sell this movie.

And Roadblock fucking shit up with a big-ass machine gun.

Oh. . . and Rock'n Roll - even if he didn't get much love. :D

Slashfilm.com is reporting that Ray Park, better known as Darth Maul, will be playing Snake Eyes in the film. The full story can be found here

Ah man I was hoping Michael Dudikoff would be cast as Snake Eyes, nothing like having the American Ninja playing an American Ninja.

I'm happy with this casting news. As far as I'm concerned this basically confirms he will be wearing a mask.

damn Sienna is fucking hot.

those glasses and the tight black leather suit with the red cobra on it- grown-up manchildren will be blowing cannon-sized loads in the theater. :D

Sienna's not the monkey, it's the girl with the hat. ;)

Well this latest casting seems pretty good I guess. I haven't seen any films with either of those actors but at least they seem to fit the parts.

Storm Shadow is Lee Byung-Hun. He is probably best known to People on this board for starring in JSA and being modeled for the lead character in Lost Planet: Extreme Condition.

And A Bittersweet Life!!

You could slap any Asian dude in as Storm Shadow, what matters is can the mofo fight?!

CAN HE FIGHT?!

Don't tell me we got a white guy that knows martial arts, but can't get an Asian dude that does.

Please don't screw this up. >:|

Hell, if they couldn't get Marc Dacascos, they could have at least gotten Donny Yen. Ugh. . .

He did some martial arts in the beginning of A Bittersweet Life, although most of it was shot in a way that a body double was possibly used.

YEah, I tried hitting Youtube and Google in the hopes of seeing this pretty boy doing something other than Blue Steel for the camera; and no luck. :\

It's a shame that one of the coolest characters in the series is getting the shaft. :(

You're mad, the dude is bad ass. Certainly cool enough for a movie based on a children's cartoon.

Mr. Eko joins!

The "G.I. Joe" brigade is growing larger.

Rachel Nichols, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje and Said Taghmaoui will join Sienna Miller and Ray Park in Paramount's live action film "G.I. Joe."

Stephen Sommers is directing Stuart Beattie's latest screenplay draft based on the popular Hasbro action figures, comic book series and Saturday morning cartoon. That cartoon featured military soldiers fighting a terrorist group called Cobra, with characters like the mute ninja Snake Eyes (Park) on the side of the good guys.

This latest version has G.I. JOE, which stands for Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity, as an international force of operatives set in Brussels.

Nichols will play Scarlett, a skilled martial artist who specializes in hand-to-hand combat and counterintelligence.

Akinnuoye-Agbaje will play ordnance expert Heavy Duty and Taghmaoui will play Breaker, the team's communications specialist.

Miller will play the Baroness, known for her espionage skills.

Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Hasbro's Brian Goldner are producing with Sommers and Bob Ducsay. The film is scheduled for an August 2009 release.

Nichols recently was seen in the horror film "P2" for Summit Entertainment. Her other feature credits include 2005's "The Amityville Horror." On television, she appeared on ABC's "Alias." She is repped by Endeavor, Management 360 and Rick Genow.

Akinnuoye-Agbaje, who played Mr. Eko on ABC's "Lost," also has appeared in the feature films "Get Rich or Die Tryin'" and "The Bourne Identity." He is repped by APA, 3 Arts and attorney Nina Shaw.

Taghmaoui now appears in the "The Kite Runner" for Paramount Vantage and will be seen in the upcoming dramas "Traitor" and "Vantage Point." His TV credits include Showtime's "Sleeper Cell."

He is repped by Innovative Artists, Artists Independent Management and attorney Bob Wallerstein.

I wasn't a fan of this younger although the transformer and G.I Joe comic was cool ...

maybe its just me but this movie is starting to shape up really nicely.

I'm glad to hear about Mr. Eko being cast. I was crushed when he got killed off Lost.

The cast for this movie is really shaping up.

I stopped watching Lost after that. It just became a cheap death-thrill for ratings thing for them. The episode of how he came to the island was one of my favs. And a great foil for Locke.

Roadblock or Stalker? He doesn't look big enough to be Roadblock, but apparently Storm Shadow isn't a martial artist either, so they're not going for accuracy. :\

I can see the Roadblock try outs now.

"I am an accomplished actor. Have been in a few tv series, and even few movies."

"Can you speak jive?"

"...."

Also did Ray Parks make it into this??/

edit: he is snake eyes which is perfect because he doesn't need to talk!

It's funny how people's memories of G.I. Joe are so attached to a cartoon with only two seasons.

All my memories are mainly from the comics, which rocked the shit out of the cartoon and Roadblock was a complete badass and not some jivin' token. Roadblock, Scarlett, and Snake Eyes! You see these people comin' you run, or you're dead meat. :D

I'm pretty sure Ray Park is confirmed for Snake Eyes.

Acutally never read the comics because of the cartoons. I avoided it like the plague.

That is good to hear that at least in the comic Roadblock wasn't a jive talking brother like the cartoons.

Kind of wished I wouldn't have skipped them now.

I believe they're available in trade. At least three volumes worth.

He asked to leave the show.
