Hahaha.

At first I was like... Thanks guys, this is super not helpful.
But then I got it.

I'm really glad it's not what I thought it was.

Okay, it's very trollish and gives no substance or response to his critics. But I found it funny.

Well, actually it kind of points out the lack of intellectual rigor present from the people that created/supported that list if there are people on there that haven't had anything to do with gaming for some time.

So I've been way too busy lately to watch anything on the site, but with a long weekend coming up, is there any stuff from the past week or two that I need to check out?

Along those lines, are there any MGS (both the game and the video series) spoilers in the podcast this week? I'm still not very far in the game still so I haven't watched any of their playthrough yet, and I'm still avoiding this thread a little in fear of spoilers.

IIRC, they mention some stuff that, if you hadn't played the game, you wouldn't know what they were talking about. But on the whole they don't really spoil anything because Drew is playing through the series still.

There was some MGS discussion but they mostly tip-toed around spoiler territory. It'll probably be safe so long as Drew's there as I imagine they don't want to spoil things for him.

Dan is so fascinating. Pulls out the Marquis de Sade, then doesn't pick up on the Jeff joke.

"Never been punched in the face"

5 minutes later

"What is it when you're a person who gets off on gettin hurt, is that a masochist or a sadist??"

30 seconds later

"I punched a bully in the face in fifth grade"

Well, I also mean in terms of what he's played, which is to say: do they discuss what he's played so far much? I imagine he's probably a couple hours ahead of me at this point, but I don't care that much if it's covered quickly/vaguely, I guess.

Apart from the panel and the meet and greet stream, do you think we will get video of the guys checking out games on the show floor from PAX? I usually dig that.

Probably not? They're all aware these shows are for the fans and not the press. They've probably seen these demos a few times before anyways and wouldn't want to hold up the already long lines with having to shoot footage in these kinda of crowds.

Maybe? I'm trying to remember if they've done stuff in the past but I can't. I guess it depends on what they fit in between the panels they're all on.

Dave Lang is history's greatest monster.

I played DOTA once earlier this year and then immediately deleted it. Last night I had a dream about it and it convinced me that I'm a natural and The DOTA King is pretty much my destiny. So I'm downloading it again right now.

I think listening to old Bombcasts while I try to sleep at night is why I had the dream. Thanks, Brad's obsession. I will now journey off to achieve my purpose.

DOTA claims another victim.

Has Drew ever played a game that isn't a simulator? That last MGS video is real rough, still fun to watch though :P

It's really interesting to watch Drew play MGS. There's a lot to keep track of (keeping rations equipped, making sure you have enough ammo, your O2, etc.), and it seems like he'd be used to that after playing so many simulators :p

Dan has made it to the big leagues. He has Steve Austin tweeting at him.
For a guy named Stone Cold Steve Austin, he comes off as incredibly nice.

WTF, why are there so many Saiya Jins W among us? I thought American immigration law would at least prevent half of them from coming to earth.

Patrick is the obvious Super Saiya Jin W, because of his prominent afro.

I really need to make a poster like this, but uses portraits of Saiyans like Goku, Vegeta, Nappa, Burdock, etc.
I'm glad I'm not the only one.

This will end badly for you.

I think the 3rd phase of the cyborg ninja fight was pretty telling (the one where he teleports behind you) in that he wasn't sure what to do, when that's a pretty common action game trope of simply not overcommitting with your attacks. Or things like enemies being invincible for for a bit after you hit them.

Someone who's played lots of action games would probably be quicker to pick up on that sort of stuff. I think Drew's doing fine though, and I also think most people tend to forget what it was like learning these controls and such, it always seems much easier in hindsight.

Your last point is really good. That's something you always see when someone's doing a playthrough of the Souls games for the first time. There's always so many people screaming at them in the chat, telling them exactly what to do. There's just so many people who have put a lot of time into those games, so they forget how difficult it can be the first time around because they know "everything" about the game at that point.

I am glad the internet hasn't left me completely void of sense and emotion; that vomiting video was tough to watch and as soon as that second, humongous stream of milk came out I had to scroll down. Oooh man. That is something.

Haha, it's something alright!

Oh

I just thought

Drew should totally play Metal Gear Rising once he finishes 4

Seeing him struggle with some aspects of mgs1, I'd hate to see how he fares in the final parts of revengeance.

Actually wait I'd love to see it.

Dunno what it is about vomiting, but I get way over-sensitive about it. The whole time I was like "why is he letting his sister do that?!?".

I've been yelling at the screen watching Drew fight the Ninja. WHY DID YOU FORGET ABOUT THE CHAFF GRENADES?? WHY ARE YOU PUNCH PUNCH KICKING IN THE FINAL PHASE????

I don't know if I want to watch him play 2, but 3 seems right up his alley as a Snake Eating Survival Simulator.

2 is the best one.
My favorite MGS changes daily.

Watching these videos made me realize that I'd be way more excited for phantom pain if it was a classic top down MGS. There's just something about them...

I don't want to extend this, but it still doesn't respond to his critics and his views while he was in the gaming press, but yes this particular part is what I found humorous.
