Giant Bomb #9 | More Dan Meets The Eye

Mario games in general, idgaf about them to be honest.
Smash is alright, but beyond that it's a lot of what I already expect from Nintendo.
The sentiment seems to run with some of the crew, where you play one Mario game, you probably know what to expect in the ones that follow. Mario Kart especially. I mean no one's going to doubt it's a fun game, but it just gets old.

It's bizarre that sentiment doesn't extend to games in hyper-saturated genres like shooters and open-world games.

Is GiantBomb.com going to have any Destiny coverage?

They had 4 hours of a live stream yesterday when the servers went live. Jeff ran one of the most popular streams on Twitch. Brad talked about his receiver some. Jeff said they will record an Quick Look too. That should all add up to about 5 hours, and seems like enough Destiny content for them

I mean, that's a matter of us disagreeing, but saying they're the only games on the platform is just factually incorrect.

Of course it is, but if we were going off of straight facts instead of broad generalizations like every time Mario Kart is brought up on the podcast then we wouldn't even be having this discussion. MK is fine, but it's just an old hat to some people so I can at least understand where Brad would be coming from even if it seems unfair to fans. Who cares though, it's all opinion based.

I bet Alex brings it up, the others say, "oh yeah that came out this year, didn't it?" and then it barely gets discussed.

Maybe. Brad and Dan both really liked it which gives it some serious punching power. Who is going to argue with Brad and Dan?

Especially since there will be podcast talk and a review.

I'm sorry that I can't muster up sufficient excitement for yet another fps in a decade that has been absolutely dominated by the fps genre. Tell me, what's the big deal here? Is Destiny some sort of fps exemplar? A grand culmination of years of creative vision?

It has a talking triangle.

Sorry guys, Apple presentation is live.
I'm going to see the future. I'll tell you guys how it is and how much it's going to burn a hole in your pocket in the coming years.

I'm back from the future guys.
Where you can take 240fps HD video for 1 minute on the base model's memory size.
16gb in the year 2014, l o fucking l

If you count indies, and there's no reason why you shouldn't, there is no genre more saturated than the platformer.

The difference is, the ones made by Nintendo stand head and shoulders above every other one made.

Second Son is strange in that it has like no content and still feels bloated all to hell.

Eh I understand the criticisms, it's just my favorite game so far. Loved mostly everything about it and First Light.

I'm probably only getting 3 more games this year LOTR, Unity, and FC4(unsure on day1). So It'll depend on those games to beat infamous as my GOTY so far.

Anyway, I hope the Destiny QL stays away from Old Russia. I've seen it so much from the Beta, playing it and watching their stream yesterday that I dunno if I can take seeing it anymore.

Hahaha

What is the name of the podcast Jason is on? (or was before giantbomb but I assume he's sticking with it) I want to give it a shot since I need to replace John and Garnett in my podcast feed. Sad to see it end :(

Remember when you all laughed at Nerds and their calculator watches? Well what if they cost $300 and came with overpriced proprietary straps?

Brad and Dan (shame on you) eating it up. Jeff got burned once with that Pebble crap.

The 3D platformer? No way. I thought we were talking about Mario Kart, though.

The last time I wore a watch with any regularity was right before I got a smart phone.

I think that's about the last time I saw a watch, period. I can't stop laughing at Apple's watch. The best part is how plain and ugly it looks, so it won't even have that going for it with Apple fans.
