God dammit... I went to a used game store and bought Fable 2 for 7.99$... Great deal, they even gave me the collectors edition yay.... Then I get home and Disc 1 is a PAL disc but the bonus is NTSC. The game is region free so it still works in my 360 but it's in french...Ughhhhh

There's a language pack on the marketplace for Fable 3, so you should have bought that one. Then again you'd have to play Fable 3...

Can't you bring it back?

Yeah I'll have to go back to the store tomorrow. Hopefully they have a proper english version in stock.

Vinny is solo building a Beast (I am guessing Alex does not help with the tech / backend stuff) whilst simultaneously creating a documentary on how he did it. Well Done Vinny

Man, no one ever recommends the breaking brads, and that's probably my favourite series.
But just today...
All Breaking Brads and all Unprofessional Fridays should be plenty of content for you.
Never subscribed before?

- Any Random PC Games (Phantasmagoria in particular)
- Bioforge (starts on an Unprofessional Friday, search for the game to find the specific one)
- the Mario Party stream from a couple weeks ago
- Drew's North Korea trip video
- Flight Club videos
- Breaking Brad is pretty good, the recent Volgarr one is great since it's pretty much just the guys talking with occasional cursing from a frustrated Brad (and contains one of Brad's greatest moments as well)
- There are a lot of Demon's Souls/Dark Souls videos that are pretty good if you like those games
Phantasmagoria, Police Quest SWAT, Lantern Runs, Bioforge, Vinnyvania, Breaking Brad.
Booooo! I like my Brads angry and demoralized. :p

The Snake that somehow throws a grenade down the barrel of a tank and backflips into a no scope in a snowstorm is the only canon Snake for me. He's a fucking super clone of the greatest soldier to ever live, that shit should be commonplace for him.

I've only ever played Twin Snakes, never owned a PSone. I only ever got a PS2 for MGS 2&3. MGS3 is my favorite of the bunch because of how great it's story is as a standalone affair. It's a 60's spy movie that busts all the tropes of 60's spy movies. The most gameplay compared to story in the whole series. The most abundant open sections of stealth sandboxes. The End, the best boss fight in the whole series. A HEARTBREAKING ENDING that still makes me tear up to this day. Probably my favorite game of all time.

MGS2, by comparison, feels like it went too far up it's own ass and comes off as super pretentious. Is it fun and dumb? Yes. But my God that whole last cutscene is the worst fucking thing ever. The gameplay itself has a lot of great systems but so much of it is so restrictive and doesn't let you really make use of all your tricks. The Vamp fight is awful. The swimming section with Emma is what I personally imagine hell to be. Just that section on loop.

Even MGS1, speaking of both Twin Snakes and the original from what I've seen of it, is a great story held atop a poorly balanced, at times badly designed game. The whole thing is so top heavy. The first two rooms are the most challenging stealth encounters you'll have in the whole game. Guards hearing your footsteps in a puddle? Never happens again. Guards following footsteps in the snow? Never happens again. It's probably the most top-heavy game of note in history. You're never given that much freedom again. You're never given that many options again. That's not even getting into the key-shape-change nonsense, an incredibly grating use of filler perhaps more frustrating than even the triforce quest in Wind Waker. The two towers you have to climb, one with guards and one with turrets. I can't even imagine how bad that is to play without free aim! MGS is an important game, to be sure, and the story is great. But it's kind of a shit game. Drew has already played through the most engaging gameplay section.

MGS2's basic flow (going heavy on cutscenes and general gameplay-as-endured-vehicle-to-get-more-narrative), fortell in my mind alot of the excesses of Gen 7. Even outside the intentional buttfuck nuts wackiness, it's all so IMPORTANT!

John Drake is streaming some Diablo III and talking about stuff: http://www.twitch.tv/johntdrake

He's mentioned already how he and the GB guys got together tonight to talk about what they're going to do for the PAX Rumble.

Adam Boyes is in the chat and mentioned how he'd "destroy fools" if he were to wrestle anyone.

And now Drake is talking a bit about Kessler. Edit: And there are still plans for a trip to Barkerville to happen but not until after TGS.

Jeff just joined Drake's game.

The first Mario Party is the only one I've ever played, and I still go back to it on occasion. I love Dan for convincing the crew to go through it. That was hilarious. I feel like I was smiling through 90% of the video. Not at all familiar with the rest of the series, so I'm looking forward to the next one for sure.

Now to find a good time to watch the MGS video.

i'm chatting it up

...

I'm sorry, what?

...

The prologue video. There's this menu where you can watch "VHS tapes" of what basically amounts to a barely animated Shinkawa-drawn video comic of Snake on the submarine being briefed about FOX-HOUND (including how Liquid looks just like him), their demands for Big Boss's body, a scene of Naomi giving him the shot for the nanomachines in his blood, Snake remarking on his life between MG2 and MGS1, a sinister explanation of how the government got Snake to agree to infiltrate Shadow Moses (they blackmailed him), and a bunch of other stuff.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys! Downloading a bunch of videos now. Pretty interesting going back to the Whiskey Media Happy Hour stuff. That era holds a special place in my heart, because it was the summer of 2010 when I really got into Giant Bomb.

There's a lot of fun stuff from the GS days as well that I think would be cool to watch, if those videos weren't completely nuked with the site upgrade.
I think even the old Hotspot podcasts are gone.

The old Gamespot stuff was pretty much nuked before the site update. Jeff mentioned that they were working on so old tech for so long that every time they updated the site, a lot of stuff got lost. This last site upgrade just finished the job. Still, there's a fair amount of On the Spot and The Hotspot stuff floating around the internet.

It's too bad no one really thought to archive that stuff in any meaningful way. It's worse still since a lot of the staff are gone and there's no real legacy there. But then again, I guess that's how the internet works these days.
