I don't agree with your opinion, but Beastie Boys is one of the GOAT hip hop groups. Paul's Boutique, man...

I never thought PB would be topped, but then they gave us their swan song - Hot Sauce Committee Part 2. Everything about that album clicked with me.

I don't think I've listened to a whole album so many times since Let's Get Free.

Yes.

lol, it's pretty weird to hear those songs with live instrumentation.

and with Jimmy and Justin doing....whatever it is they're doing there.

i'd also like to think Saints Row IV single-handedly brought Biz Markee back.

AAAH SOMEONE DOES NOT LIKE EVERYTHING GIANT BOMB DOES I AM SO OFFENDED

Correct!
except for the 2013 part

You should go to a The Roots live show. They're amazing. Also, Biz Markie was never gone, dude!

PB will always be the best Beastie Boys album to me, but Hot Sauce Committee Part 2 is fucking amazing.

The real threat here is Ozzie Canseco.

It feels a little weird to see harassment like that from Dan given how often Patrick speaks out against it, and to a lesser extent, the rest of the duders. I know he's probably just doing it for a laugh, but then, isn't getting a rise out of someone for funsies the kind of thing most people generally wrinkle their nose at?

I dunno, that's been in the back of my mind since hearing the podcast where it first came up.

Are we reading the same tweet? Canseco said that at him.

and as stated before, Jose Canseco is a documented living piece of dog shit and is exempt from being guaranteed human decency and kindness.

Yeah I wonder how the other guys feel about that situation. I thought it was funny at first, but then I imagine if Dan did the same to someone equally as inarticulate as Canseco, but wasn't famous. That would seem super fucked up.

Patrick probably doesn't approve, but he's been pretty hypocritical in that regard, having sent his Twitter followers after people he doesn't like on multiple occasions.

[EDIT] Maybe Canseco's faults go way beyond his spelling, so I suppose it's not a fair comparison.

Patrick's just done that a couple of times, hasn't he? And he has apologized for it both(?) times IIRC. Still, yeah, it's a pretty shitty thing to do.

The Canseco vs. Dan thing goes so far back that I don't really think twice about it. Canseco is also a scumbag, so I have no problems with him getting some shit on Twitter.

I remember at least one time wasnt outwardly malicious he just posted a link without thinking of what possible outcomes could be

I don't want to live in a world where Dan can't have a harmless feud with a drug-using, wife-beating, bad parenting piece of garbage who tweeted contact info for someone who accused him of rape.

He did, yes, but my issue is that after apologizing for the first time, he did it again. Fool me once, something something can't be fooled again.

Everyone's a hypocrite, especially on social media. Remove all expectations of people and you'll have a better time.

All that may be true but I don't think this kind of stuff is flattering to Dan.

Jeff is far too set in his ways to be swayed by PT.

I actually feel the same way that he does about "scary" stuff, but I still appreciate and enjoy games like Amnesia and PT. Jeff tends to be deliberately obtuse about things he's not into sometimes.

I am terrified from Amnesia to the point where I can only play it for 30 minutes at a time and haven't played it for many months. I'm curious, when you play a game like Amnesia, do you feel any sense of tension or do you just feel nothing?

Similarly, when you play an action game, do you feel the adrenaline from the action or do you feel nothing there as well? I find it interesting that some people can turn off human emotions when they are being manipulated through the senses.

It'd be nice if Konami would be a bro and release the MGS Collection on PC now that I am inspired to play through them again. I still have my PS and PS2 copies but I have this small glimmer of hope that they'll do the right thing before MGS V.

I was just imitating dan for funsies. I actually like some other hip hop stuff here and there, but I was just never as interested in the genre as a whole. I'm not seriously denying there's other great hip hop out there.

As for the beastie boys, I don't know if I could pick a favourite album. I could listen to any picked at random and have a good time, maybe not counting to the 5 boroughs though. Yeah paul's boutique is probably at the top, but I also really like hello nasty in spite of (or maybe because of) it's perceived "failings". They're very different though, so it's hard to compare.

Was more talking about these:
Dan Ryckert

@JoseCanseco So when are you gonna sack up and take me on in that Home Run Derby, you fat-headed dipshit?
Dan Ryckert

@JoseCanseco You’re a fucking idiot.

I know nothing about him, so I'm just reacting to what I'm seeing/hearing recently.

Or the inverse, if people were tweeting the kind of messages he talked about to the duders frequently. how that would make us as the community feel. In fact, there's a few creeps who do just that to Patrick, and respond to almost every one of his tweets with harrassment.

Can't argue with that.

The sooner you learn to not expect anything good from Konami, the better.

:(

There's not many "wrong" answers when it comes to best Beastie Boys album. Their first three albums are all stone cold classics, and Hello Nasty is pretty fantastic too (as is Ill Communication).

Hmm, I've never really thought about it that way. When I played Amnesia, I definitely did feel tension, but if (for example) I was killed or there was a big scare, my brain would immediately disengage and I would no longer be immersed in the game. Like a defense mechanism of sorts. I would never describe the feeling as fear, though. Same with movies.

I do get into action games in the way you describe though.

Fair enough, hard to tell around these parts any more who's riffing on something and who is legit.
Not that I was gonna rag on you for what you know/like about hip hop because I know jack shit too

Paul's Boutique and Ill Communication are the only two choices I can fuck with in my head for their best LP. The rest after that have good stuff on them, but their sound is at their most fun, most diverse and most interesting on those two records. Hello Nasty has some great tracks, though, especially Intergalactic and 3 MCs. Oh, and the Fatboy Slim version of Body Movin' is the greatest.

Fucking hate their first album, though. It's so bad.

Paul's Boutique > Ill Communication > Hello Nasty > Check Your Head > HSCP2 > The Mix-Up > License to Ill > TT5B

I really don't like it when rappers who aren't normally political get political. I mean, yeah, they had the whole Tibet thing before, but the Bush stuff on TT5B still felt like a bit much. Doesn't help that this was around the time that shitty Mosh song from Eminem came out.

There's still some bangers on TT5B though.

I'd actually love to see the two of them meet up having said all this crap to each other, though I fear for dan's safety.
