It took me a while to adjust from Gamespot gb crew where they have to play and cover everything and have an opinion to GB gb crew where they can ignore or play whatever.

Speaking of Vanquish, challenge 6 is fucking impossible. I was celebrating when I beat wave 4 thinking it was over, then two bogeys show up and destroy me.

Definitely my most satisfying gaming achievement/Platinum trophy. Last challenge took me 20 freaking minutes when I finally beat it, and my heart was racing like I had just run a mile at me best speed (also 20 minutes). Definitely frustrating that you can't practice waves though; I could beat the first two (then three, then four) waves with relative ease, only to get obliterated in seconds of the next as I tried to figure out what the hell was even going on -- what was I even facing? Challenge 4 was also irritating in this regard.

Vanquish is free on Plus right now, by the way, in case anyone is a fool and doesn't have Plus and Vanquish already. :P

It probably goes without saying, but Revengeance looks so dumb. And not fun sort of dumb. At least not to me.

Do you not like to stretch your skill? I don't understand this viewpoint at all, games like MGR lets me go hog-wild on a game, similar to Dark Souls and Super Meat Boy.

Youtube shouldn't let people upload sub 720p videos.
off-screen 360p videos

What is this, 2002?

I was thinking the exact opposite. It looks so fucking awesome. Here's to hoping it comes to PC!
Would surprise me. I know Platinum has said they're looking into Steam, but while they've been pondering and talking about, tons of other Japanese devs just did it. I just consider it lip service until proven otherwise.

Add to that Metal Gear's spotty history on PC, and it's probably one of Platinum's least likely projects to end up with a PC version. That said, Konami said they were looking into a PC version (it was initially announced as a PC game as well, iirc), but I assume another dev would handle that port.

Nothing about that quick look made it seem overly skill based. He said it was a dumbed down platinum game.

You should know most reviewers will never reach the gooey center of character action games because they don't have the time, the skill, the dedication or their commitment to other games. To get the most out of these games, serious work needs to be put in to them, and that can hardly be shown in a 40 minute quick look. Rather, these quick looks are intended for people who aren't as crazy as the dedicated gamers who will play these games over and over on the hardest difficulty just for the sheer joy of the fluidity of combat.

Brad played Bayonetta, actually.
I think he said people liked it for the cutscenes and the gameplay was just okay or something like that.

Wasn't that Ryan? It might have been Brad too, but I remember Ryan at the very least having this idea that people only liked Bayonetta for the "Japanese Craziness" rather than the gameplay.

Yeah that seems awful.

Speaking of awful, coconut water is dreck.

It's weird because GB is the ONLY place where that stuff doesn't bother me in the slightest. Jeff hates almost every one of my favorite games from the last few years (Demon's Souls/Dark Souls, Red Dead, Starcraft 2) and I still like hearing what he has to say about everything (even when he bashes those games, I still enjoy listening). There isn't anyone else in the industry I can say that about.

I appreciate their opinions but the GB guys are not really the one's to ask when it comes to depth or complexity of combat systems. They are really just scratching the surface with the games they review. Add to that that they aren't even into character action games in general. It's like they just rediscovered the genre with DmC.

100%!

It's funny watching this Devil's Attorney quick look and they keep expecting more to happen. I guess Brad is slowly learning the realities of iOS gaming.

Now that the site saves your place on videos, I've decided to go back and finish the Persona 4 Endurance Run. Going to start at the beginning since it's been so long, should be fun! Anyone else going back to it with the relaunch/new features?

Any word on the API / RSS fixes? I tried to download last weeks bombcast again over the weekend and there is still an error in iTunes. Also hoping this week I can watch content on the boxee again.

Are you on iOS? I found that by going to the bombcast website and clicking on the RSS link the Podcast app recognized it and updated it just fine.

can you resubscribe in itunes (we had to reset the link)? We just pushed a big performance fix so the API is next on our list, hopefully really soon.

If they would have added a playlist feature, along with the save your place feature I might have. I wouldn't mind using it as background noise. It's been a while.

I will give that a go when I get home tonight, and see if it fixes the problem. Glad to hear teh API is up next. Thanks very much.

If I can ever find the time I'd like to re-watch the VJ Deadly Premonition run. Maybe I'll try and make it through the Chrono Trigger run again?

I'm not bummed or angry.

The word disappointed affords more degrees than you seem to allow it to.

I didn't mean to single you out (hence why I purposely didn't quote your post). It's more that your post reminded me of something that in general bugs me. It really solidified during the DmC nonsense, when so many people seemed offended that Brad could actually like the game.

Although, again, you weren't being obnoxious in the least, so please don't take offense.

is there a podcast today

It's Tuesday, so..... no

have you watched the BR deadly premonition run? It's not as good as VJ but it's still pretty funny at times. There's some crazy stuff that happens.

"There's a giant dog in the middle of the road. There's a giant dog in the middle of the road. Hit that dog. Hit that dog."

I remember watching it when it when it first came out. Totally forgot about that part though. OK, yeah. I might have to re-watch them both.

Just finished DmC. I'd probably give it a 5/5 too. There are minor issues, but it comes together as a complete package. At least on the PC. Dat framerate. Even Bayonetta's behind isn't that smooth.
