Giant Bomb Thread #4: A thread of perceived slights

I gotta say, tonight was the first time I saw "real" footage of Dota 2. I knew the basic moba concept for a long time but never actually played and never watched a whole game.

Looks interesting but yeah, I would need a group of friends playing for me to even thing about getting into it.

For me, I just started playing. I'm a huge fan of RTS games and I thought it was really cool how you can pick a ton of these characters who are all voiced and have their own powers. I was able to get into it just from playing and learning from my mistakes. They have bot matches now so that makes learning a lot easier but I play with randoms 98% of the time and I have a good time. Though if I was playing with friends it would be a lot more fun.

I don't know why they don't just embed the youtube player. Doesn't look professional maybe? Well neither does a bad homebrew player.

They claim that the complaints are few and far between and that none are specific enough. Still seems like fingers in their ear ignorance over a busted custom player if you ask me.

For a large network with a dedicated ad team, Youtube is generally avoided because you cannot attach any of your own pre-roll ads which you may have sold as part of a bigger site-wide campaign.

It's why a lot of sites have a Youtube presence, but don't promote it much on their homepage as it simply exists to capture new audience then funnel viewers to the actual site.
