It's incredible the pulse they have of the industry. Jeff G also predicted Tony Hawk HD six months before it happened.

Eh, that wasn't really an impressive prediction. Robomoto had essentially killed off the Tony Hawk series with Ride and then Shred, their studio suffered layoffs, franchise went on hiatus for a year, etc. Remaking THPS2 as a downloadable game was the next logical step.

So what do people expect we'll get this week in terms of content? I'm going to guess we'll get a couple of QLs, the podcast and a Spookin' with Scoops.

No live content at all. No ILM (I could see them retiring ILM, actually).

Maybe more mailbags. I'd expect they're getting way more packages right now.

bombcast. maybe unprofesonal fridays if they are up to it. maybe a jar time and some bombasticas.

expected little qls

I highly doubt we'll get a Jar Time any time soon. I think Jeff will need the most time out of everybody to deal with the loss. I can see him running shotgun on a QL, but I can't see him dealing with just answering an hour of questions.

That + a mailbag.

Why retire ILM? I love the current format and its a great way for them to shoot hte shit for a few minutes while talking about vidja games.

That's probably me being a little overdramatic, but I can see them getting out of the habit of doing them and then just dropping the bit.

Maybe I'm just keeping expectations low, but I don't think we'll get any video content or bombcast this week. Maybe a mailbag, but I wouldn't be surprised if they all take a sabbatical until August, when actual big games start to come out.

This has got to be such a tough time for these guys, I'm sure there's a massive part of all of them that just doesn't want to do it any more, especially those in SF, but at the same time they all must know they won't get a better job than working with their friends making dumb shit every day...I hope they've got the confidence to just grieve, and not worry too much about what's going on the site.

Get back to it when it feels right.

I've been listening to the first run of Bombcasts while working out recently, and when talking about the announcement of Motorstorm: Pacific Rift, Jeff calls it "Pacific Rim" with a lovely innuendo attached. Think about that.

I think if they got the Bombcast out last week, they're going to get the Bombcast out this week. It may be short, but I think it's the one piece of guaranteed content.

Maybe a week of bereavement or they take a week off but yea, they have to make content. It's their job.

I think CBSi will give them another week before they bring the hammer down and start demanding more content.

They'll probably start doing something small this week, like maybe a quicklook or two.

Sadly that's not gonna work. If a close family member dies you get like 3 days off here, not sure how it is in the USA. I know it's a different situation, but that's how it is :(

Jobs don't work that way unfortunately.

Actually it is how a lot of jobs work, most big companies have policies for compassionate leave in cases like this, 2 or 3 weeks off wouldn't necessarily be beyond what they are contractually allowed, and even after that it's likely their HR team could allow them longer given the circumstances.

In the US? What job are you working at? I can see a week, maybe 2 at the most, but that's it.

Then again, I can see them all having a lot of banked vacation time.

I think we're also underestimating that at some point they'll probably WANT to work. One can only grieve at home for so long before the desire to do something else and be somewhere else takes hold. To let normality begin to return.

3 days is pretty much the American standard. Also, you are looking at shutting down an entire division. I have never heard of 2-3 weeks in the US.

The majority of GB shirts are terrible. They keep using the same guy, right?

Just make a polo with the little bomb logo on the chest. Done.

'Classy polos' are worse than any t-shirt design. Badly stitched (or even better, ironed on) logo slapped on some poorly made generic collared shirt - watch out, country club!

If I want to wear a nice polo, I'll wear a quality brand name one. T-shirts are where I go for dumb shit and fun times.

I wish that they could some how get the rights to print and sell one of the various fan art pieces that we've been seeing online, I'd love to get one of those framed and placed over my entertainment center.

GB is about personalities and one of the central personalities is suddenly gone. The CBSi bosses aren't going to crack the whip, they're not idiots. If GB is ready, they're ready. If they aren't, they aren't. Forcing the issue will result in uninspired content and unhappy people all around.

It comes to $40 for the t-shirt I love Ryan very much and I would do anything to help them out but I seriously have to think about $40 for a t-shirt that I think I'll never wear.

I did that to 2 years before TH HD to download would come.

Idle thumbs predicted plastic Tony Hawk Board 2 years before that game was announced.

Sometimes its not that hard :P

100% of the proceeds go to his wife. Think of it as a donation instead. Give the shirt as a gift to someone.

GB is about covering games. The personality is what makes it, in my opinion, one of the best sites.

You can't expect them to be all making with the funny so soon after a loss like this but you can expect them to cover games. If they want to keep the job anyway. If being in the same office reminds you of your grief so much that it stops you doing your job, then maybe it is time to look for a new one. A couple of weeks vacation isn't going to change much.

That said. No reason to rush things. Don't feel like doing a live show? Don't. Don't fell like recording a QL? Write a review or a feature. Hell even get on your own boards and post a bit or do a blog entry. Rorie seems to be engaged in the community and he has known Ryan as long as most of them.

100% of the profits. Out of that $40, at a guess - $15 will go to UPS or whatever, $10 to the shirt maker, $5 for payment processing and admin. IF you don't want the shirt and live overseas that is a lot of waste.

They had a tip jar, they should have a straight donation option. Or donate to a charity yourself in Ryan's name.

Talk about games on mic for at least 2 hours a week (less off topic stuff) and you are bound to get some things right.

They admitted themselves that most of their E3 predictions were nonsense.

They're not, yet. There's no way that by next week the bosses are going to be okay with no new content. Of course more grieving time would be great for the guys but they're owned by a huge corporation now

Their site is probably getting as much traffic now as its ever had during a non-big announcement week. CBSi probably doesn't have much to complain about and I'm pretty sure Jeff can decide whatever he wants.

I'm saying, for now. Traffic will go down and the bosses will probably have something to say.

I believe that they off-handedly mentioned that the announcement about Ryan actually trumped the XB1's 180 on DRM story in pageviews.
