The sound quality in this interview is pretty poor.

Ok, I know I'm years late to this. Who won the Splinter Cell bet? I never got to the end of it, and I don't think I'll be going back to old podcasts anytime soon.
Vinny had to be right

Ryan won.Night vision goggles weren't in game, so the one who bet on that.

My post was tongue-in-cheek; Brad is a nice dude.
I didn't realize he had a policy, but I can understand where he's coming from on that front.
Ryan won.
They had thermal vision goggles in the game, which under the rules of the bet, did not count.
Solforge looks like a game where people bring numbers to a match and whoever brought the biggest numbers wins. I'll give the game a shot, because I'd really like to play an online card game like that, but it sure didn't give a good first impression.
I keep playing Yu-Gi-Oh games to this day, because you can have such dramatically different styles in building your deck. Solforge on the other hand looked like you have monsters and cards to raise the attack of those monsters.
The Bureau actually seems super cool but if they're having framerate trouble on their PC I worry my poor PC won't be able to play it...
Guys at Giantbomb seem to know zero about PC hardware. It's pretty ridiculous in the Quicklook that Brad complains about performance but makes no attempt to fix it through settings. Their 670s are probably running off old software too. They really seem to just plug in their PCs and just press play, which I guess is fine because this is what some of the public does. But I'd expect a place like Giantbomb to be a bit more responsible.
Actually, if you've listened to past episodes of the Bombcast you would know that the fellas update their personal PC hardware on the regular and are more knowledgable about PC hardware than you give them credit for.Guys at Giantbomb seem to know zero about PC hardware. Oh boy. Did you not watch the whole thing? I don't think there is more that they could do during the Quicklook without ruining it completely.

Brad probably didn't want to waste the viewer's time mucking around with settings that could ostensibly be a solution to the issue at hand (because that would not be very entertaining). If they are running off of 'old hardware' as you speculate then why can't we chalk that up to budgets, requisition forms, circumstances on part of the parent company (CBS Interactive), etc. rather than 'ignorance'?
Next time, think outside the box before you want to give someone a hard time about their job and how they go about doing it.
Besides, he tweeted earlier that he was turned on to a solution as a mea culpa of sorts to the issues he was having in the QL.

Alrighty then, I stand corrected; my apologies to Coldsnap on that part.He said old software, as in drivers. Changing settings doesn't involve a whole lot of mucking around in this day and age, and takes just a couple of minutes. Dropping down either AA, SSAO, or shadow quality settings will usually solve framerate issues fairly handily. Talking about viewers time being wasted in a 55 minute quicklook is kinda funny though![]()

... So uh, have any of you played the PS3 version of the new XCOM? If so, how's the framerate?

Brad in 3...2...

He was probably still wearing diapers when I started building my own PCs, so I don't see any reason to jump in here.
What's wrong about that? What still bugs me is during the Crysis 3 quick look they turned down anisotropic filtering to try and gain performance...
You know how creepy the internet can be?
Through really simple googling, I found out that Brad was 8 years old when Coldsnap was born.
always funny when Vinny reveals himself to be the true Anime Editor
Quick Looks aren't about well-informed perspectives of the game. Most of the time the QL's they do they have only put a little time in the game. It's more so there to show people the game and have fun with it.
TL;DR don't watch QL's ever again if you want well informed videos. Watch them to learn a little and have fun.
Performance aside, The Bureau looks boring as fuck. I gave up on the Quick Look 2/3 of the way through, it seemed like it was too dull for them to even make fun of.
What's wrong about that?
So when is Brad gonna start his premium science podcast?
