Is anyone else growing tired of 50+ minute "Quick" looks?

I don't have the time to invest an hour every day to watch just quick looks, I wish they were 20-25 minute range.

Quality of quantity please Giant Bomb.

Nope. I love it. Perfect material to have on in the background at work.

Nope I multitask during 90% if the videos anyways so long ones are better if anything.

NMH was like a spot-on piss take of action games, good and bad. The satirical quality of that game is what elevates it above Grasshopper's recent output. It was a deconstruction of what happens when you try to make your game be at 11 all the time; meanwhile, the last two Grasshopper games are exhausting in how they try to be goofy, sexy, stylish and action-packed in every second of play.

It's like NMH was some kind of accident... or maybe Suda just needs to return to the directing chair, for real.

Did you watch it? All 50 minutes were pure gold. If you can't watch the whole thing, you can resume later, ya know.

I'm not specifically talking about today's Quick Look, just this whole past two weeks.

I rather have many short ones than these bloated long ones. Like that America's Army one had no reason to be that long.

AA was 19+ min, iirc. Pretty short. I dunno, I'm like some other guys here, I just leave it on while I do something else.

release the nukes.

edit: Wait, this is about japan. fuck. i-i don't mean it like that!

I'm going to need you to pull over, sir.

People were starved for good games on the Wii.

Not to talk shit about NMH or anything -- I like the series-- but they were not exactly top-quality games.

Yeah I pretty much agree. Okay playing games with cool presentation/stylistic elements (i.e. They're Suda games). The weirdest things to me is that NMH2 maintained the review scores that NMH1 had. Typically when it's a case of what you've said reviewers wise up by the time the sequel comes around.

Did you guys know that you don't have to listen to the entire quick look? That they're not edited in such a way that they save a great gag for the ending?

Excuse me, I meant the War Thunder.

But yeah, I guess I should just leave them on the background. I find it difficult to focus on my work though. Hah.

That's what I end up doing, just watch 10-15 minutes and then tap out. I feel like I'm missing some potentially great stuff though.

Just make it short and sweet.

Shadows of the Damned wasn't even Suda, it was directed by a guy named Massimo Guarini.

I remember some thread a while back where there was an article about the guy, and 90% of the people in there had no idea that Suda hadn't actually directed SotD.

Up until Killer is Dead (which I have my doubts on), I don't think he's actually """"directed"""" any Grasshopper games since NMH, has he?

They just throw his name on as "Creative Director," which, in Grasshopper speak, seems to mean he walks in to a room and goes "Hey what if that character wore a skirt alright good meeting see you guys next week"

You guys mock the Hatsune Miku stuff but if they ever did a hologram Risette concert 75% of Giant Bomb's viewership would be tripping over themselves to get tickets. And if they did a concert with the full cast of P4 performing as their "band" from Golden then make it 100%.

b-but who will lead the videogame resistance in 2021 if I'm gone?

People were still starved for good games on the Wii when NMH2 came out.

People being starved for games on a Nintendo system has never equated to better reviews. The only thing it guarantees is the word "dust" somewhere in the first three paragraphs.

Yeah, their new style seems to be three people and almost an hour long Quick Looks. I don't really like it, I skip way more now.

its really annoying how a lot of the videos don't appear in the 'archive' any more, only in the news feed or 'top slot'

i'm pretty sure the only way to access the 2 most recent spooking spoops videos is to find them in the news list because they arent in the subscriber section.

is there an unprofessional friday missing too? maybe a daily DOTA as well?

it just seemed to stop working since PAX :S

Which is extra crazy when you consider like, what did Suda 51 ever make to earn that status? Shinji Mikami. Mother fucker made Resident Evil. Hideo Kojima made MGS. Inafune made Mega Man. Kamiya made DMC, and I don't think they even put his name on boxes.

What did Suda make? A rail shooter that wasn't even that good but was weird enough that people talked about it for a while?

that theory would explain all those 9/10s TW101 got

And if it was a live performance from the jazz trio of Funky Student, Mysterious Fox and Kanji they'd fill Madison Square Garden

I dunno about that, I feel like there's always been this phenomena of people gathering around mediocre/flawed games on message boards when a system has nothing coming out for it. I think it ends up influencing reviewers too, since more often than not, they're very much the type that finds themselves on message boards about videogames.

It's not exclusively a Nintendo thing. You see it on something like the Vita too, where people pretend as if shit games like Uncharted:Golden Abyss are worth playing.

I still want a full english version of Golden's True Story song.

And that QL was fantastic. I must've looked like a complete idiot trying to hold back laughter on the train.

We're explicitly talking about review scores, though, which have the opposite results from what you're arguing here.

Generally games that are supposed to be the momentum starters for Nintendo systems or the drop-of-water-in-the-desert games get reviewed pretty harshly.

They liked it from my impression. Jeff won't say it but he's gonna play more of it, imo.

ha, just as I made this edit:

anyway, here's some more examples that I feel make my case.

I suppose we'll have to agree to disagree if you're still not seeing it.

I just bought Project Diva F. They are fun games and totally deserves to be ridiculed. I really like rhythm games and I take what I get.

I listened to a shoegaze Hatsune Miku album a little while ago that was actually pretty good.

You should totally put a score in to the score challenge we're running in the OT! Just a tad over three days left to get a score in.

lmao @
censoring panty angle on Miku
, does the Japanese ver. do that?

I'd have to check again to see if the behavior is exactly the same, but the Japanese version will censor certain angles, yes.

civilization is dead
Dead or JUST BEGINNING?????????
Gotta say, trawling through youtube now, and so far megurine luka >>>> most hatsune miku songs that I've heard.

Yo but can your megurine luka dance to Jamiroquai?
It is masterful trolling on Sega's part to not localise PSO2 but localise an obscure Japanese rhythm game with a PSO2 themed song in it,
