why do you say that? Did they mention something in a bombin'?

Nah, patrick just likes to troll brad.

Much like this thread!

How come you're not playing anymore. :<

that girl fight video could get them a ton of hits on google if they get the keywords right. "girl on girl" and "seismic fisting" is going to lead to a lot of disapointing searches.

Man Jeff didn't do one bounty hunter mission in all of GTAV. Those are the best missions! You have to pull out your paper map old school-style!

Maybe the review copies didn't come with the map? dunno. Given how fast he finished it for review I don't think he did a great deal of side stuff. Maybe he just isn't in to that stuff.

I don't think Rorie beat it, when he started streaming it again when he rejoined Giant Bomb he got the lord vessel for the first time and I don't recall him streaming again after that.

He stopped streaming just before Ryan passed. I assumed he went on to finish the game but wasn't up to streaming given the situation. Maybe be stopped playing though, I am only guessing.

If Vinny is just picking up his save and trying to finish the game I guess it could be interesting.

Ok, this is a weird opinion.

What's so bad about Girl Fight?

Looks like a shitty fighter made with barely dressed girls to appeal to a male audience that likes barely dressed women. Like Jeff said, like a million games in the 16 bit era? I've got news for you, Asuka 120% Burning Fest is not a very good videogame.

There's even a category (of mostly japanese games) in which this game kinda falls into: Bishōjo game.

The "bonus" material is as bad as centerfold naked woman posters.

I wouldn't feel bad if it was an all-male roster with chiseled abs and bulging packages. You know, like Cho Aniki and, to some extent, Muscle March.

At worst, it's a product aimed at a very specific audience. Not unlike Hatsune Miku photoshoot extra minigame.

FYI, Rorie has been streaming recently. He's up to the Crystal Caves before Seath boss fight. He didn't finish it yet.

Didn't you just answer your own question?

Looks like a shitty fighter (snip)

I guess that is what kills it. You cold defend it if the gameplay was good. If it is a crappy game then nobody is going to defend the design decisions.

huh, I assumed (wrongly) that he finished it. Could make for interesting streams if he and Vinny are at about the same point.

Check my edited message, I added more information to my point.

But I guess my point is: why is that a bad thing?

That is something I agree with. It's not a good game after all said and done.

Vinny said he stopped at Tomb of the Giants and I don't recall Rorie beating that dungeon either. That should be a fun location for them to stream. I expect many freak outs.

It's a bad thing because it's a shitty fighter?

At least with skullgirls it has the gameplay to back it up and give the characters more... character instead of just glorified sex models.

Also the problem with this game being made instead of chiseled men with bulging packages is because no one is making that? But I don't really want to get into that debate because I don't really have a problem with cheesecake if done properly. Girl fight seems to be not that though.

Because even as a Bishojo game, it looks awful. It's like they wanted to make an actual gal fighter that was heavy on fanservice and after they had nailed down their fighting system (GEMS! BECAUSE THAT WORK SO WELL!), they saw the flak that other games with unapologetic sex appeal had and decided to pull a hard 180, but their art assets were done. It doesn't go far enough for a gal fighter, it's not good enough to be a serious fighter, it's slow, it's ugly...It's bad.

There are ways of doing fanservice well. Whether or not you like the Skullgirls aethestic, it never shoves the TnA aspect of it in your face, as if screaming at the top of it's lungs, "LOOK AT IT! LOOOOOOOOOK AT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Girlfight feels like a computer's interpretation of human titillation if it were given a bullet list of traditional heterosexual turn ons without any context.

Besides, now that DOA5 is f2p, there is no reason to even consider playing this game.

Not trying to troll, but I just ask this as someone who detests pretty much all fighting games. What's the difference between a good fighting game and a bad one? I look at Girl Fight and it looks to be about just as shitty as say Street Fighter or Marvel vs. Capcom.

Think about it like checkers and chess. You're just moving plastic pieces around the board in directions (at least what it looks like) but once you know the rules, it's obviously deeper than that.

Sounds like a box quote for Girl Fight.
"Deeper than...(chess)." - SteveWinwood.

Fighting games have arguably some of the most memorable characters in games. A good fighting game has great character design and memorable characters. Girl Fight just looks like a bad knockoff of DOA. It also lacks the depth that most fighting games have.

Why does Patrick need to show his face during Worth Playing?

I think it has its uses. I mean, in that one Worth Playing where he did that interactive story with the date and everything goes wrong, you wouldn't be able to see his priceless reaction if it were just audio and gameplay only.

I honestly think it's pretty entertaining to see his facial reactions in general.

Really? Are you unable to watch TNTs and Unprofessional Fridays etc as well? Their faces are always shown.

Yeah but seeing only Patrick's face is kinda distracting. I enjoy when he does it with spookin because we wan't to see a reaction. But worth playing's are more like quicklook's. I don't need to have a little box in the corner which continously shows his face.

Patrick shows his face on his one person quicklooks for, what I believe are, two reasons:

1) The audience is used to seeing the editors of GiantBomb quite frequently. One would say even at least once a week (on Unprofessional Fridays or TNT, when we had those).

Patrick, not being part of those events, now puts his face on his alone quicklooks. To connect with the audience.

2) On two-people quicklook, there's a banter, there's a connection between the two people that are making the quicklook. They have a conversation and you're just listening to that conversation. Alone, Patrick doesn't have that back and forth with anybody, with makes the conversation not be as interesting. With his face there, that's something else for us to connect with, and pay attention to: His facial reactions to what's happening on the game and his body language, to better understand what he's trying to convey.

I think it works ok.

Great job bringing the enthusiasm to the podcast, Jared. A nice counterpoint to Jeff's unenthusiastic cynicism.
