If I would go back a year in time and tell the world that in the future Patrick and Alex would provide 80% of the content...

I was mesmerized about how Brad didn't know the first thing about fucking Star Command and Patrick just schooled him in it on that quicklook.

As in, Brad didn't have a grasp of the basic game mechanics.

I'm not saying that he's bad at games (lolz), it's just that, on that particular quick look, it didn't seem like he cared at all about the game. Seemed like a Patrick-driven quicklook that Brad just came in and said: hey, lemme drive it because I bought this game and didn't play it yet.

Which there's nothing wrong about it, it just seem that Patrick is more prepared for quicklooks (as he actually tries to play and research the game beforehand), while Brad is probably too busy playing Dota.

Which is fine, because it gives us things like "The Daily Dota" and actual Dota talk on the website, of which there would be none without Brad.

So no complains, I guess?

This is amazing.

If you liked that, tune into VGCW sometime. It's basically that, livestreamed, played by the CPU and with interludes of amazing storytelling.

You can find all the info you need in the VGCW thread (which I can't link because I'm on mobile, help me out here HTown/Coldman).

Jeff's not on the official roster yet, though.

It'll be a Morning Commute-cast for me.

Haha. Somehow I am not sick of the original GIF of that kid or any parodies yet. The Vinny check mark thing was fucking genius.

Well, I guess I have to go play The Witcher 2 for an hour or so until the cast goes up. Then it's 2 Tylenol PM's and the soothing sounds of the Bombcast to lull me to sleep. The best part is I get to listen to it again in the morning because I won't remember a thing.

Jeff on twitter:
Today I saw some interesting video games.

We need a Jeff Gerstmann flight tracker. Must be E3 judges week or something.
Combine this with the desire to see Tokyo Drift
and we are likely getting a lot of launch driving games.
(Drifting? new Ridge Racer at launch?)
Driving games do show off new consoles well

GT6, Drive Club, Forza Durango. The inevitable Ridge Racer launch game. Plenty of "interesting" racers he could have seen.

Actually it seems both the next PlayStation and xbox will launch with "real" racing games this time around. Does Ridge Racer in its current form need to exist anymore?

Did the Wii U get a RR? Christ! That console cant get ANYTHING!

Some guy on Twitter mentioned that the Activision event was yesterday, so that should be Skylanders, Destiny and Call of Duty Ghosts. Have they anything else that should show up at E3?

I am curious to hear how they handled next-gen games, if it was all PC versions or if they let them play on dev kits.

This far pre-release I doubt developers even have final dev kits, so the Dev kit versions probably are the PC version, since devkits are just PCs built to a certain performance level.

Devs have been using PS4/Durango dev kits for a while now. They are not final form factor of course but they are way pass the "Hey that dev kit is actually just a mid-tower ATX with a bunch of PC hardware in it" phase.

Are you sure? Has any final silicon even been fabbed yet? I remember last gen hearing of final dev kits going out 6-8 weeks before hardware launches.

Like I said we are past the Mid-Tower early period but, afaik, we're not in the final phase either. So there is custom made devkits available but the final form factor is never available until much later. The hardware is pretty much locked at this point (less than 6 months before release). They might change some small details here and there but the bigger picture is locked.

I don't doubt that it's locked from a design standpoint, but I don't think that silicon is in the dev kits yet, and if you're not on final silicon, you're on an approximation, which is just a PC.

What I'm saying is that there's a step between the PC and the final hardware. Look around, there's even pictures of the PS4 devkits on the web.

right, but it doesn't matter what the outside of the box looks like. It's either got the real silicon in it or it doesn't. If it doesn't, it's a PC. They're not going to fabricate some custom intermediate chip that will only ever be used as a step-stone for devkits.

edit - I'm not suggesting that the things are running Windows or anything at this point. I imagine they're set up with code and compilers designed for the real PS4, but the hardware in the thing isn't a PS4, so there's not going to be any sort of code optimization done or anything where there would be any benefit to seeing that version rather than the PC version.

Patrick has definitely adopted an attitude (at least on non-Bombcast stuff) that he should have some idea of the game he's talking about before talking about it. I like it.

I still don't know what the daily dota is. Have they said? Is it just Brad playing dota? Is he playing with people (the community or Drew) or just queueing for matchmaking?

Also it's at the same time as the ti3 qualifiers... decisions decisions.

According for the quick blurb about it on the podcast, Brad is playing Dota daily and streaming it until either people are bored of it or more important things show up (like the Microsoft event next Tuesday).

Ah okay, thanks.

It'll be interesting to watch, more to see his response to a chat or something. You can always improve in about a thousand different ways in dota so if he starts getting tons of people trying to help it'll end up feeling like "man you sure suck" instead of here's tons of constructive criticism to make you better that will overwhelm you right now.

Who would have guessed the next Endurance Run would be DoTA

I'm quite surprised it didn't happen before: People seemed to somewhat enjoy that TNT-Special, Brad is into it and he's getting into trouble at home for playing it too much.

How to fix it? Play it for work, while at work, and create website content.

Perfect! :D

My ratio of watching GB guys play games vs actually playing games is like 20:1 now.
The Walking Dead was the only thing I had really played since August until this past week. Grad school has kept me so busy that GB has been the only real way I have any "playing games" contact as of late. I keep adding to my Steam wishlist though, haha.

Book of Unwritten Tales was 75% off and grabbed it for $5 last night. Curse you, Vinny!
