I know it's true, but I cannot actually believe it.

All I'm going to remember are the pictures of his wedding, the happiest he has ever been, and him blasting his stupid wedding present gong on that one vine he did.

He seemed fine throughout the entire week. I wonder what the hell happened!

RIP Ryan.

Thank you for providing hours and hours of awesome coverage and podcasts. You educated me about games and it was a joy watching and listening. Thank you for dedicating yourself to this industry. You will be missed.

Wow and he was that young. He was my favorite of the crew as well. :/

I'll miss those awkward faces that he liked making.

All I could think about was the picture of him with the disney guy from his wedding. He seemed so happy. This is just so damn sad.

He went out with a hell of a party. Godspeed.

The guy will be thoroughly missed. He delivered the Giant Bombcast every single week and he took pride in that for sure. I've been following these guys for more than a decade. It's so shocking to hear news like this so suddenly.

I feel like anything I say wont be good enough. Grief is like that I suppose. We all feel it, we can sense it in others. We try to console others even though we dont know how to console ourselves. God, I'll miss him and I never even met him

Him and Johnny V. It's the picture that came up in my head as I was reading the news.

Fuck, and I just listened to Tested's 4th of July podcast and Norm was talking about how he bought a camera specially for Ryan's wedding and how many pictures he took, but he wished he took more of them.

And will talking about how he has gone to a lot of weddings, but his wedding was one of the good ones.

Holy shit.

wedding day from Norm he looks so happy :O

Thanks Ryan

Well Ryan, you got me. After years of photoshopping your face onto zombies, next to mole people and as a character in my very own western FMV game here we are again, 1000% zoomed in on that beautiful mug as I code this page. A contorting sag of skin, freckles and sweat that bubbled every emotion to its natural gestalt. I never knew a man more irate, lovable, drunk, bored, ecstatic or nervous than you. Others probably were, but their presentation couldn't keep up.

What the fuck did you put in your hair? Some sort of grease or pomade I imagine. Either a fancy product or a cooking lubricant wouldn't have surprised me. Whatever it was gave your curly tumble a slick that was made for the dancehall. Damnit... that dancing! The nimble, frantic hops of a con man celebrating his final big score. The right song came on, of course we're dancing.

Most will remember you in sweaters or a polo. There were four or five of them in constant rotation. Solid swathes of fabric stained by food, sweat and liquor, left to bake until just right under studio lights. Those who knew you better will remember bright terry cloth robes and bare feet, because of course Ryan Davis wore a god damned robe around his house. Even in the minutia of relaxing, you had to show us just how much better at it you were than the rest of us.

In the end though it was always the laugh that grabbed us. A great guffaw of wind which knocked down any walls or awkwardness between strangers. You of course were always the funniest one in the room, everyone knew it and no one debated it, but your real gift was making those around you feel like partners in the joke. A member of a team.

You will be missed.

- Dave

PS: I realize Ryan would wince at how god damned serious all this is, so I'll just leave you with this link to the ending of rollerball. It's probably even more corny and serious.

I have to think this was health related. He really started looking awful the past couple years. I remember getting shit in these threads when bringing up his weight. Just wanted the dude to get healthy. :(

Like I said in the other thread, I can't believe it. I can't believe that I can feel so bad about somebody I've never even met passing away.

Although I've heard the opinions, stories and general life events of the GiantBomb crew and other site's podcast people more than a lot of my own extended family.

For 6 years I've listed to Ryan. I'll now never hear him again.

And only a couple of weeks after his wedding.

Rest in peace, Ryan.

Twitter has caused tears to roll down my face. The Giantbomb crew are goddamn close to my heart and have been for years.

Goddamn man, why did you have to go so soon.

Oh god, fuck! The week after his weeding?

I can't begin to express how sad this news is, my sincere condolences to his family and friends.

This is horrible. RIP. Condolences to his family, friends and co-workers.

Oh my God, you don't think he was on his honeymoon when he died do you? He just married last weekend.

He's just 5 years older than I am.

For the past 4 - 5 years, I've been looking forward to every Tuesday, because of the Bombcast and because of Ryan hosting it.

I'm devastated. All the condolences to both the bombcrew and his family.

You will be forever missed Ryan.

You'll be missed by many, Ryan--so sorry you were taken from our world at such an early age.

Prayers for your loved ones in this time of great loss.

I really can't believe this. Celebrity deaths don't usually affect me that much, but I feel like shit right now. :(

R.I.P. duder.

Maybe not the right time to even be worrying about such things, but I fear for the future of the site as a whole. The crew is slowly being disbanded for one reason or another. :(

Not being able to hear him be so excited about Saints Row IV or GTA V or the next generation of consoles is going to be hard.

I don't ever get emotional when someone dies, but this is genuinely heartbreaking. He was such a lovable guy.

Poor Jeff.

People that were closer to me have died and I wasn't this moved.

What the fuck.
That is what happens when TRUE communities are build, same if someone famous on gaf would die.

MAN I have been following him since 2000 when I got on the internet gamespot was my place to go and NEVER left the core team aka GB crew.

soooooo crazy I just I still can not think right

Giant Bomb will never be the same, and it shouldn't ever be the same.

I may have complained about Ryan in this thread, but he was still an important ingredient in making it what it was.

It's just fucking nuts. Words fail me.

at PAX 2010 i had the chance to meet ryan. he was sitting outside smoking and talking to vinny. i introduced myself as a fan and creator of some posters i did (those red/brown ones that looked like wrestling posters) and he immediately lit up and extended his hand. i took it and he shook it vigorously, praising me and thanking me over and over. he was incredibly gracious, kind, and polite, but in that sort of gruff ryan davis way. we chatted about the upcoming live show, the website, and PAX in general for a few minutes.

i won't lie and say he was my favorite, or that i even enjoyed the bulk of his output on the site, but i've never forgotten (not will i) how he treated me that day. he didn't treat me like a fan, it was just two dudes talking about games and dumb shit.
