No puzzles no conflict no real mechanics to speak of...what is there to Gone Home that I can't get from watching a lets play on YouTube?

You can totally guage Jeff's current mood by how sarcastic his tumbler resposes are.

toilet4brain asked:
So it looks like Rockstars way of trying to get people to play though GTAVs story if cutting out multiplayer for a few weeks. Sounds like bullshit to me. People would have played through IVs single player to the end if it didn't suck.

Jeff:
Well hey, thanks for sharing your expert opinion!

Anonymous asked:
Is that going to reflect your review Jeff? Are you not going to review the game as soon as it comes out?

Jeff:
Thanks for not mentioning which game you’re talking about or making any sense here. You’re truly a credit to anonymous questions.

Unless the let's play is broken up into chunks that are down to single verb actions, I imagine that bit of non-linearity in exploration probably adds more to immersion than a disembodied voice cracking wise for a few hours.

jeff needs to form a pro dota2 team and secretly match against brad's team constantly and beat him until brad uninstalls

it's the only way to stop the doto

So is Gone Home a scary game? I'm interested in playing it, but not if it's got jump scares, like if I turn around there's a white faced monster behind me or something.

...I also hope it would run on my 2010 13" Macbook Pro. Quick Look didn't give me high hopes of that, since Vinny and Brad complained about it not running well on their machines, which are clearly more powerful than mine. I sure wish demos were mandatory on Steam.

The atmosphere is really creepy at times, but there are no jump scares

Part of the enjoyment is exploring the setting yourself, at your pace. Where you go and what you look at comes from your own impulses instead of someone else's.

I assumed Gone Home was puzzle-ish too, is that not the case?

It's not a puzzle game. There are a few hidden aspects here and there that you can spend time to find but the crux of the experience does not come from any sort of puzzle solving.

Oh.

Maybe something like Dear Esther would be a better comparison then.

Yup. Except more interactive. You control the pace of the story through your exploration of the house. As the QL mentions, some parts are gated by progression but it's not strictly on rails.

I'm watching Bradley May Cry Part 5. LOL, they're hardly talking about the game. This is basically the Brad and Vinny show. Some really great food discussions.

Vinny's whole wheat + chunky peanut putter + strawberry jam suggestion is on point. That's my go-to PBJ combo. Blackberry jam's good too though.

I really enjoy the timer

New LIVE SHOW in 09h 14m 31

i wonder if somewhere on the internet there is an irc chat up as a hang-out meetup for the next show, it makes me laugh...

is that what we're doing here?

Brad couldn't have sounded more disinterested that episode, Vinny kept trying to keep it interesting with random food talk, but that only goes so far.
