But then again there's people who hate the XMB...I don't get it... It's MILES ahead of the 360 UI. It's super fast, doesn't have ton of adds and you can find everything in seconds instead of having to dig inside 15 sub menus just to download a demo.

Of course I'm talking about the XMB alone, not the shit show that is the PSN store.

Thats my exact reaction, if you just look at it compared to the 360 UI its just so simple and easy, everything it under where it should be. I have no clue how people get confused.

Yeah, I don't understand how anyone could call the XMB a bad UI. It is simple, fast, and things are where they make sense to be.
 
People who like the 360 menu system are seriously just fucking wrong. There isn't even a debate to be had that the XMB is the best UI for a console that's ever been.

People point out the 'fuck you' scene out of context, but when it comes up in the game it works. DmC is no masterpiece of storytelling, but it's a hell of a lot better than everything that came before it.
 
Brad saying he hadn't really played Kingdom Hearts makes me want to see him go through it even more, for some reason I just assume everyone played that game when it came out.
 
There's got to be an older game that Brad never got around to but always wanted to play that he can do on stream. I'd rather him play a game that he wants to actually play than some more torturous experience.

There's not much. They're both RIDICULOUSLY stupid, just in different ways. Hell, seeing the game replayed now, it doesn't even seem like the voice actors are trying. You wanna compare DMC3 to DMC in bombast, fine. But christ, DMC1 plays out like a Sandy Frank movie.

You can make the argument that the super Japanese demon detective trope (It's amazing that this is a thing) style cheese is easier to swallow, but man, compared to the over the top, whining entitled Dante in DMC, they're both equally difficult to swallow.

Honestly, the exchange in DMC that Dante has with the grub demon that eventually boils down to the two of them screaming Fuck You at one another was pretty clever. The first time. I'm not going to defend DMC's script, because it's stupid. But it's no more stupid than "I WILL FILL YOUR DARK SOUL WITH LIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII-", it's just more vulgar, which people associate with immaturity because reasons.

Bottomline: Devil My Cry, all of them, regardless of developer, have ridiculously bad plotlines, scripts and characterization and it's hilarious to watch people argue semantics about which one is the least bad about weaving it's narrative.
3 is the least bad

The XMB isn't bad, per se. It's just that Sony has packed so many options into it on PS3 that it has become clumsy and confusing. Comparatively, the scaled down XMB on the PSP was a masterstroke. By the time the XMB found its way onto the PS3 it had outlasted its welcome.

The Xbox UI, however, (prior to the latest Windows 8 style tiles) was great. Big, colorful, well spaced...It had a visual rhythm and flow. And the blades were always there to boost access to essentials.

The XMB is a big reason why I always avoided using my PS3. It was subconscious. That and the way it always needed patches and updates and unzipped files and installed millions of files as if it were a Windows PC...But I digress.
 
Are they playin the pc or Xbox version of splinter cell? Game actually seems fun, might check it out.

So, I thought "Well, if Vinny had a tumblr, does he get a lot of "Pow Block, anyone?" comments, but then I realized he does have a tumblr and hasn't updated it in several months, and then I was sad.
 
Just finished watching daily dota. I think Brad's crew are all good players, but they just don't do enough for defense. They lost the first game early with the lack of wards allowing for easy ganks, and lost the second because they didn't keep the lanes pushed and the towers defended. I think if they just designated one member of their team as defense during the mid-late game they'd win more. He can still lend a hand in team fights, but always keeps a tp scroll handy for warping back to keep the lanes pushed.

DMC 3 is miles better than DmC in every way, including storytelling, character development and voice acting. Ninja Theory's Dante swears like English is his second language.
 
I really like the new DmC, too. It's the best action game of the year for me. The comparisons are kind of pointless.
It's made by different team, with a different goal. You know you'll get a game for a different audience. It's like comparing all those hollywood remakes of movies that exist already, like Funny Games or the Stieg Larsson movies. You can enjoy them both for what they are or be part of an endless cycle of discussion.
 
I enjoyed DmC well enough, but how could it possibly be your action game of the year in a year with TWO Platinum releases? The mind boggles!

No, only the early ones. I remember them being decent military thrillers if a little heavy on detail.. Sad to hear he put his own politics in to the later books. If anything, as I said, the early books had a liberal vibe and stuck it to the CIA pretty hard.

Well I don't have a WiiU and I don't think Metal Gear Rising is as good as DmC. I loved Bayonetta, though. That easily beats all of them.

It's pretty to funny/disturbing to watch the "interrogation" scene. It looks like a QTE sequence with no QTEs but maybe that's the IdleThumbs episode affecting my view.

I almost pity Jeff and Vinny when Persona 5 gets announced. I bet things are going to be super unbearable for a while.

I almost wouldn't be surprised if they refused to talk about or Quick Look the game simply because people are being so whiny.

In lieu of regular Flight Club and Random PC Game, Bombin' the AM is quickly becoming my favourite GB feature. Twice weekly is what makes it - not late with the news.

This answer presumes I did not play DmC and could decide if that context is as important as you say it is.
