Switch to "Progressive", use DownloadHelper or an equivalent.

Edit: You have to start video playback so that DownloadHelper gets the actual URL of the mp4.

It is shitty and it is them going back on their word, so you have the right to be pissed. The reality of the situation sucks for all concerned, but I don't think the bombcast change is a decision they took lightly. I really think it's something they realized they had to do.

I remember Diggnation used to do the "paid members get the show earlier" type thing. Then they dropped it because it for whatever reason. I would have preferred that the GB guys just released the full pod to non-paid users a few days later, I feel like that would have less of a shitstorm than splitting it up the way they did.

I listened to a couple Screened podcasts, they were OK. But I don't usually go out and see that many movies to make listening that interesting. (I had just seen Predators and Inception so their thoughts were interesting, plus I think Ryan was on too).

If you're watching a flash video on your screen, you've already downloaded what you're currently watching at the very least. They can't do anything about that. Technology!

If they really want to guard their video content from being streamed into files, they have to make their own codec (or buy one no player can play back) and use that codec exclusively in their flash player.

That doesn't really fly though because of the way flash video works. So they'd have to write a video plugin, effectively.

Still, since you can always just dump raw pixels and audio chunks, if you're a hardass about your content, some hacker will come along and write a really good thing just to piss you off.

tldr: No, they really shouldn't do something about that, it's a waste of time and resources. Make content instead.

I think Dave tweeted that a side-effect of their new videoplayer on the site is *that* happening, and that they'd try and fix that as soon as possible. Also, eventually the site-player will move over to HTML5 (when browser-adoption is high enough), and you'll certainly be able to watch it when that happens.

Probably a bug. The free iPhone app is also borked right now for video, and they say a fix is coming.

You could sign up monthly, but it ends up being the same price (5x12=60, 50+10=60) either way.
