Gintama Anime |OT| Just Do It!

You know, while I didn't skip the opening I still somehow missed Hasagawa. Must have looked away at that part.

As for the episode. Oh Gintama, what are we going to do on Mondays when you more than likely go on hiatus again in April?
 
I can't believe Gintama can get away with implied anal sex and oral sex in the same episode, but here we are lol.

Loved the One Piece reference too.
 
just watched the new episode...what a fuckin riot! especially the twist but Hasegawas confession to gintoki right when the episode ends made me spill my drink.

Gintama keeps on giving the lulz.

Also, I do hope gintoki gets his soon. And if he does, it'll be EPIC!!!

I am just in Episode 10. I like the humor and all, its stupid and just relaxing and fun BUT.... does the series have any actual/serious moments? And if so... when :P! The Opening implies it but its basically been the same humor stuff for a looong while now and I am slowly getting tired of it hehe
 
It does have its serious arcs (Benizakura Arc being the first) and character development. Just keep watching!

For me, Gintama is all about the little stories each episode has. Some are funny, some make you feel a little sad, and there's a lot that make you feel good. It's awesome.

Holy fucking shit,this whole episode is full of parodies and references and hilarious. Not to mention a upcoming serious Shinsengumi arc which we never had in a longass time.

There are plenty of serious arcs which is high levels of awesome. We got the Benikazura Arc, Itou Arc, Yoshiwara Arc, Spider Arc and the 4 Devas Arc.

A nice introduction episode with a lot of humor, I just hope it doesn't fall flat like the Renho Arc. It was pretty ho-hum till they pulled out the Gundam references.

Good ep. Goofy at first but it's going to get serious soon. I like how Yamazaki got completely ignored at the end :P And Gin is gonna do something for the Mimawarigumi, what?

Shit just got real. Hijikata's and Sogo's fight should be awesome. Sogo's fight especially IMO.

Also I think it's obvious that Gin will be the third element and rescue Tetsu...

It's so obvious that I'm thinking he will be captured too and need to be rescued
 
Episode was kind of slow, and a bit confusing at the beginning, but I liked Tetsu's rap, the bad guy breaking seriousness with his texting habit (and a shout out to the previous texting episode with the Katsura/Elizabeth spam), and the CHECK IT OUT GANG being led by a guy named Emi Men (I think that was it...it was an obvious Emimem joke either way)
 
Wow, I never thought I'd see a Gintama dub...

I guess the movie has the benefit of not being as obscure Japanese pop-culture heavy as the show normally is, being a more serious affair. Be interesting to see who they pick for voices though.

It's going to be weird seeing it in English. Hopefully it's still as funny (well, the slight funny parts in that arc).

Well done Sorachi Hideaki, well done animators at Sunrise. There is no limit for badassery with Gintama.

Somebody please make GIFs of the fights...especially when Isaburo rocked Hijikata and when Hijikata pinned Isaburo to the wall.

Can't wait for the next ep.

Slightly disappointing for the ending. I was expecting more confrontations and badass.

At least we can see Miwarigumi teaming up with Takasugi.

lol at slumdog millionaire for Hasegawa.
 
I thought it was a pretty satisfying ending. There was an overload of badass last week. Didn't expect
Takasugi to show up at the end. The eventual conflict with him is going to be huge.

Also we haven't seen a Ginpachi-sensei in a while. Next ep should be funny.

Didn't you pay attention to when Kagura was reading the letter? They're waiting for the producer's hair to grow back, because he shaved it all off.
 
Gintama' is indeed over. Next year we'll see the glorious return of Gintama". Until then, start from the beginning. Watch five episodes a week, by the time you reach the end the new Gintama will be just around the corner.
 
If its really over why does crunchyroll have episode 253 listed as coming up next week? Is this another one of Gintama's epic trolls?

Probably a mistake. They just can't do anything anymore, they've got like two months worth chapters of the manga left to adapt. Most of those 10 chapters being part of an arc than isn't over yet lol

We're back to waiting a year or so for new episodes. And that's most certainly going to be the drill until the end.
If it ever ends.
 
I thought I'd cross post this in the Gintama thread, although I have to imagine anyone here has already seen this video. It's worth checking out though:

It's a bunch of Chinese cosplayers who basically wrote their own episode of Gintama and performed it at some contest (it's actually longer than a standard episode!).
They even managed to get
rope bondage Sa-chan
into their bit. lol

(Also amusing is a) everyone having Mandarin names and b) the crowd freaking out whenever the characters spoke Japanese).
 
Okay, I finally finished watching all the episodes (have been avoiding the OT until now because I had lots of catching up to do).

What an awesome anime, easily my favorite. It's so bloody hilarious (though the humor is probably not for everyone).

What I really like is how even after 250+ eps, I still don't feel like the series ever drags. There's no filler episodes that feel completely boring compared to the rest of the anime, and the arcs never drag on too long. Nice pacing in that sense.

Can't wait for when it restarts again.
 
Since this got bumped, just a heads up. The Gintama director is now working on a show called Binbougami ga, which is really friggin funny (and I put it at the top of the Summer Anime thread). It's not that similar, but I think fans of Gintama would probably like it.

I'll probably make a thread in a week or 2.
 
There is a new movie on the way. Sorachi will write it. It's scheduled for a 2013 release. Apparently the anime will return to TV, but no word on if that means repeats or new episodes.
