That lived up to all my expectations and then some. We'll be seeing more Shawn and Eric too so good for that.

I forgot about Morgan until just now. Damn! Just Damn.

I could see Shawn hooking up with Maya's mom. There's definitely going to be a lot more to this Shawn and Maya dynamic which I'm cool with.

Nah, that would be kind of shitty. Maya's the best character on this show right now.
Yep. She's a standout talent. Probably the truest disney has produced in a long time.

So... Is Mr. Feeny dead?

I have caught some bits and pieces of this series. It's nice to see the original cast from BMW is used lightly.

Some exciting news!

Hnnnnnnnnnnnnnngggg So good.

Just watched the one with Shawn. Kinda wished Eric showed up in it but as long as he's coming at some point then I'm ok.

I thought the Shawn/Maya thing was them both pretty much missing what the other can offer. Shawn sees Riley and Augie and feels empty because everyone has a family and kids but him and Maya feels shitty because she doesn't have a dad and a mum that isn't 100% there for her and they could benefit from each other and it was them realising it. Like Shawn could be the dad she's always wanted and Maya could be the child he feels like he's missing. Plus with Maya being little girl Shawn, Shawn can offer advice and be a mentor or something.

Wow. I haven't been watching but saw the Shawn episode after it was mentioned here.

The show's got some issues on its own, but I think they really nailed adult Shawn. He acts exactly as I imagined, uncomfortable around Corey's kids, nostalgic but holding back, unable to look Riley in the eyes.

And they way he reacted when Maya called him out felt pretty real...when compared to what is probably a fairly plastic Disney teens show.

I'm just really impressed with the episode, and Shawn's performance.

Never seen the actor that plays uncle josh before. The kid's got tons of charisma. He's like the anti-Lucas.

And not a god damn person is going to complain about this.
Nah, I hate when sequel series focus too much on the older characters. It just comes off as sad and desperate, like an overbearing pageant mom living vicariously through her kid. The next generation should sink or swim mostly on their own merits.

So, is this any good? From first glance it looked like another Disney sitcom that avoids any real life issues.
it's a super cheesy modern disney show but at the same time it has been steadily improving, and it's cool to see cory/shawn/topanga/etc... Some of it is good (maya, farkle).

If you're a BMW fan give it a go but I'll be real, it aint the same. At least not yet. BMW started off cheesy as well. Less so than this but still. I doubt it'll ever get as real as BMW though.

This really should be kept in mind. Many people remember the later years of BMW and seem to forget how cheesy and lesson of the week the show was early on. GMW is matching that I think even if it might be a bit more light hearted due to it being Disney. BMW's content matured, while still being funny, etc as the actors and characters did. I'm really curious to see what chances are made next season since the characters have been established.

It was great to see Cory and Shawn back together and to see Topanga annoyed at them again. I was hoping Morgan would show up. I had forgotten that Cory's parents had a new baby toward the end of BMW.

Announcement #6: Another member of the original cast will also join us this year. There will be an announcement about it. That is all.

probably josh since hes around the same age as riley and maya. love interest for maya opposite riley/lucas?

The guy is 17. The Lucas-Riley thing is already bad enough.

He's not a member of the original cast. Shawn, Feeny, the parents, Minkus, and Harley have all appeared. Any other guesses?
Eric has been announced to pass by, but if it is not him: MORGAN.

PS I hope farkle gets maya in the end. Screw lucas.
Maya-Lucas
Riley-Farkle

The little i saw(2-3 episodes, not all the way through) was enough for me think it's nothing like the original, and is indeed much worse but since Shawn came back, I might have to at least watch that episode.

And that's the part that bothers me the most. We know exactly where this show could go but it will never go that far with it being on Disney Channel.

I don't think the young cast could favorably compare regardless, nor the adults for that matter.
Isn't that the point of following then as they grow up? Someone needs to tell Ripley to tone it down though. She's (and her brother) are the worst parts of the show

I still watch Boy Meets World from time to time and even in it's infancy, the young actors had some charm, as opposed to these kids who seem to have been plucked straight off the Disney assembly line. The same can be said for the aesthetics, which is typical Disney, and not a good look. Yeah, I don't like The Disney Channel.

(also, nothing like Feeny(a treasure), no cool sibling like Eric(before the writers ruined him), and Corey and Topanga can't hold a candle to Alan and Amy Matthews)

I agree with all this, sadly. Almost every aspect of the show just feels incredibly limited and awkward.

Maya/Sabrina is the only main that has the "it" factor.

The Maya/Shawn moment was deep, imo. It also brought back all of those horrible memories of Shawn and his troubles growing up.

And it was obvious what they were hinting at. Riley is trying to get Shawn to return to NYC and give him the life he doesn't have like Cory does with his children. Her first step is to make Shawn the father Maya never had. That's why when he said "I'd never let someone grow up like that" Maya's response was "you wouldn't? implying if he would be an active role model in her life, a father figure. Likewise, for Shawn, as he'd be gaining the daughter he never had in return.

I enjoyed that episode, got quite a few laughs from me. Love Cory freaking out. Also really like Ava and Josh.

Also the
"I'll be your teacher next year" and "Not every lesson I teach you have to do with your lives" "Yes it does Sir, every week"
made me laugh haha.

Yay, I win!

Was my favorite little running joke this week.

ALso cool to see Josh there, but random that he was just in town to take Auggie out?

Oh he brings an interesting dynamic. Being a cross-gen character

And nice they touched on the age-difference between he and Maya even if it seemed like a random add-on for this episode.

The funny thing is: the age difference isn't that big. Joshua was born in 1999, he is 15. The actor is 17. Maya Heart is supposed to be 13-14, a year older than the 12-13 year old Riley according to GMW Wikia so it is only two years. Same goes for actors. Sabrina Carpenter is 15, two years younger than Uriah Shelton. The age difference between Rowan Blanchard and Peyton Meyer is larger...

Last 2 episodes have been on point.

The Family Game Night episode was just funny from end to end.

Glad to see that Riley/Shawn dynamic coming to fruition and delivering the goods.

This show is just good watching all around!
