What about database master -> slave replication? lol.

Microsoft products use primary/secondary and have for years; but since MySql uses master/slave still they keep the references around but with a note at the top of documentation that it is against their style / language guide.

As a professional software developer myself, I support this. I always did wonder why they called it this and used the master/slave names... even with PC hardware with a master hard drive and slave.

Well and do you thing it was based on real life events? Based on what I know it was Slave and Slave owners. Maybe is just language...but yeah if this terms would be translated literally to my language it would sounds pretty ridiculous, but languages does not work the same. I think it was always been Main and Secondary here.
