//: Global Starcraft II League (GSL) - Blizzard Cup 2011

Moletrap :D I'm dying of laughter

Pro sports teams rest star players in pointless games all the time at the end of seasons so they are fresh for playoffs

But the star players are not actually resting on the field. They are sitting on the bench, and usually replacement players are still trying to...actually PLAY in the field, no matter what sport they are in.

That's because they have something to play for. They want to prove themselves. They want to break into the first team. You think they're happy sitting on the bench? What did Naniwa have to play for?

I just realized that game would have been so much funnier if Naniwa didn't find Nestea right away.
How did he find him right away anyway?

Are you out of your mind? How would he lose his code S spot over this?
If GOM didn't take it well it would be within their rights to retract it I'm sure. I really doubt it would happen, but him throwing the game does make a mockery of the tournament and show a great lack of respect. Naniwa was paid to play that game.

I'm also sure they've got official rules against throwing games.

I wasn't suggesting it will happen, merely that its something Naniwa should consider before he probe rushes. As a viewer I loved it fyi.

Edit: Yep only cross^

Ah that makes sense :D

OK

Naniwa never even won a code match he's 0-3 and all over a sudden he's going to do well in code s?

well if you ignore how the games against world class opponents actually looked and all his other accomplishments i guess you could pretend surprise at this position.

I dunno, I see where Naniwa was coming from. I bet Nestea didn't want to play that game either but he was told to. Naniwa just has less patience than Nestea apparently.

And yes, resting star players is quite similar.

Still, it would have been good for the fans to see the match.

EDIT: Oh and if you follow Naniwa on Twitter, he gets really upset after losing matches. The fact that he was eliminated at 0-3 would have put him a terrible mood. Most people in a bad mood don't want to play a worthless game.

And HuK's twitter:

ROFLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

IN BEFORE THE RAGEEEEE

EDIT: LOL and then he retweeted the QuanticGaming tweet. Hahaha.

What shitty sports do you watch where teams just play their B and C sides because they're out? If the teams i followed cared so little as to do that i would probably be finding another sport to watch. I'm surprised fans really put up with their teams not trying.

Then again it seem as though people are just willing to accept their team tanking in sports with a draft so maybe i just see things differently :/.

difference between a team vs individual, the team is esentially throwing out a half assed effort which is half an ass more than Nani just gave but it's the same principle imo.

I watch a real sport where the team know it's not worth risking injury, fatigue, etc.. in a game that means nothing. Football teams play 2/3 times a week as it is, why would you risk weakening the squad for a game that means nothing.
I also watch a sport where the fans want what's best for the team rather then their own dumb wishes. We also support the 2nd/3rd/youth team regardless.
(This doesn't only happen when a team goes out, it happens when they are already qualified as well)

on the flip side, naniwa has nothing to rest for and starcraft doesn't put him at risk of injury. no analogy is perfect.

Uhm....to show his fans and all viewers a great game?

At least those games are actually played, naniwa just forfeited. I bet GSL is regretting their decision to snub huk.

Naniwa didn't forfeit. He did an all-in with a very low chance of succeeding, maybe he hoped that Nestea would micro as well as MMA did with his thors.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome..... Seriously though, it's not worth the stress. He's already pissed off, why put himself through more games? Mental health is important as well.

he's not going to spontaneously develop carpral tunnel by playing a 4th game and he has no more gsl games for the rest of the month. lots of time to cool off while still fulfilling his professional obligations.

He's acting like he's playing a basement tournament...

personally, i wouldn't want to look like a ducking little bitch refusing to fight a grude rematch.

i'm not one of those RESPECT EPSORTS types but c'mon, show a little sand.

If he didnt want to play a real game he could have just 4 gated, the game would only be 4 minutes longer but at least he can be seen to take it somewhat seriously.

Poor polt, no one will talk about this :lol

The "Seriously though" didn't give away that I wasn't being serious?

So you'd prefer him waste your time? Throw away the game a little bit later to seem like he's trying? That sounds like great viewing..............................................................
