Go outside right now and go look at Jupiter and Moon

Thank you, GAF. I wish I were in South America right now. I mean, I always wish I were in South America, but particularly strongly right now.

Thanks for the heads up. Not a cloud in the sky, so I got a good look at it. Crazy to think that tiny light in the sky is actually a monster of a planet.

Iphone FAIL.

Thanks for the heads up, did manage to check it out for a few minutes, but the sky is too cloudy to get a continuous view. Don´t have a telescope but it still is a nice view.

EDIT. Pic my brother took just now with his semi-DSLR cam.

EDIT 2. Current location is Monterrey, Mexico by the way.

You should email the guy with that pic, it's really good

Reporting in from NYC, only saw the moon and a small thing next to it. I hope it was Jupiter:D

It was nice outside, not to cold. Really makes you want to travel out to space and see it.

Went outside to look at them. Such a beautiful thing.

Took out my telescope and tried to take pictures of it with my Galaxy Note 2. Since the moon wasn't full, I couldn't take a picture with both of them in the same image.

Was pretty hard to take a picture of Jupiter. Looks so much better in person. I really need a DSLR.

Was that pic of the moon, the detailed pic, was it from the telescope?

If so I need to get one.

Just went outside to look at it. There's a blue hue around half of the moon and it looks pretty awesome.

Closest comparison would be an HID light with the purple/blue "flicker" from the lens.

Yeah. A fellow Gaffer who I know for years got me one for christmas (Celestron Nexstar 4SE) and it's amazing. I also got an extra kit that has many lenses and filters. The picture you see is with the largest lens (has the least "zoom" but you can see things clearer). Those two pictures was just by putting the camera lens on top of where you put your eye to see. There is an adapter for cameras which I have yet to use.

This one was taken about a month ago

PS: It looks much better in person, considering I'm using a cellphone camera

I hate to break it to you, but Jupiter is supposed to be way bigger than the moon. It looks like your brother just got a picture of an airplane (those are smaller than the moon, obviously).

Man it's beautiful, I've always wanted a telescope. But I forgot since I grew up, but damn if that ain't something else.

That´s no airplane, the pic was taken an hour ago and that celestial body is still next to the moon right now. I´m aware it is the moon in that pic, that pic was taken with a bridge camera not a telescope. Moon is much closer to Earth than Jupiter, so it wouldn´t look bigger anyways.
