Go Vacation! (Wii/Namco) ...a sleeper hit?

Just saw the news on that (still?)banned nintendo news site.

A game called "Go Vacation" (apparently developed by Namco) will be released for Wii this year.
I think it's only announced for japan right now but I hope they will bring it to the west too as it looks surprisingly great.

Think of Wii Sports Resort's Wuhu Island but much bigger and with 50 activities (instead of 12).
The island itself seems to be (mostly) open world and you can roam to seach for new activities.
Afaik the island is divided in 4 different resorts and climate zones.
I was almost shocked when I saw the gameplay video. It looks stunning(not only graphics wise, which look btw fantastic)!

Huge variety in activities(some examples):
take a walk around the island or roam it on the back of a horse
Go surfing on a huge tidal wave (California Games style!)
Dog sledge(!) racing
Quad racing
Take a flight over the island by plane
Bobsled racing
Dancing(!)
Diving in the waters around the island (looks as good as "Endless Ocean")
Ski Jumping
Hang gliding
Rally racing
Sharpshooting(!) as a cowboy
Racing with racing cars
Skiing
Cliff Diving
Snowboarding
Tennis
Roller Skating
Light Saber fighting in Tron costumes(?) (I kid you not)
Rafting
Jetski racing (complete with Wave Race'ish wave-physics)
Sky Diving
Volleyball
Minigolf

also:
4 player split-screen mode
It seems that it's done by the same devs as "Family Ski" as the style looks very familiar.

Here is the gameplay video(a must watch before you scream "Meh, another crappy minigames collection"):

it doesnt even look that bad....im suprised.

Seems like each area is a sandbox full of things to do. That surfing looked awesome!

If I had a Wii I'd probably pick this up just so I could run around and explore.

Could you imagine a game like this in a persistant online world? Amazing. U know what to do, Namco ;)

So I watched the video. Not only is it just minigame collection, but you have to wander around a dull open world to get to those minigames. It just looks totally bland.

Uh, this looks surprisingly good. Might have to keep an eye on this, y'know. I hope the different modes are more filled out, though; would be a shame if each racing mode only had one track each, for example.

Edit: Wait, the racing section shows at least two different tracks. Neat.

That does look actually pretty fun for a mini-game collection. If it has a decent multiplayer too I'll buy it for my little sisters when it gets here.

I mostly interested to see the light saber fighting thing.
the screenshot made me laugh hard because it looks hilarious

edit: mmmh...light saber dueling means probably motion-plus enabled?

Family Ski was surprisingly good.

Like Nintendo's own stuff, this is better than the usual shovelware. Which isn't saying much, but still.

I think this looks fantastic!

Hoping it does pretty well so we can get copies on other systems. I'd love a portable version of this on like Vita or 3DS. It would be fun to just chill out there on the bus trip into town.

I've been wondering when someone was going to make a game like this.

Wow. I actually kind of want this. It has some open-world bits even. Did anybody else get an R4-vibe from that racing music?

Wow, I didn't expect this to look this good coming in.

When I heard the title and minigame collection, I was thinking something along the lines of the shovelware bin at my work that I organize all the time. There are so many beach vacation minigame collections, that I didn't expect this to look as good as it did.

Lightsaber fighting, dogsleding, riding down a mountain on an inner tube, and a mini RIIDDDDDDGE RACERRRRRRR.

Day frikking one.

That dancing part seems to be a mini idolmaster. And the overall screenshots from the main site looks great. It better play as good as it looks.

Didn't Namco make 2 really good snowboarding games for the Wii using the same art style? I hope the gameplay for this will hold up as well.

I like it!

Go ahead and port it around though, Namco, there's only so much in here that appears to require the Wii Remote and Move and Kinect could use something this charming if those Wii sales start drying up.

Yeah. Wii Ski and Snowboard was a lot of fun with the balance board.

I'll watch this one. Could be a potential purchase.

Looks fantastic but I have a feeling each game is going to be as shallow as humanly possible (i.e., one race course for driving, etc).

Lego City Stories, Ghost Recon On-Line, Aliens: Colonial Marines, Go Vacation!, Killer Freaks from Outer Space, a ton of amazing 3DS games including Luigi's Mansion 2! It's been a great E3 for Nintendo fans.

Wow, didn't expect to see port begging from PS3/360 owners over a Wii minigame collection

They kept up with and hugely expanded 'We Ski & Snowboard'? Loved that game. Will love this.

Um, is that dude snorkeling completely underwater?

Yep. Pretty fantastical. That's what games are for! ;)

They really need to be working on a sequel for Wii U with online support of course. It would absolutely demolish at retail.
