Go Vacation! (Wii/Namco) ...a sleeper hit?

At first glance I thought that girl pulled her pants down and was squatting over to take a shit.

:lol me too. And the dude in the back is trying to get her to stop her insanity.

But this game looks like one of the greatest things ever. That commercial drove the point home. I look at this and get that feeling of wonder I used to get from early nes games and whatnot.

This game looks so damn fun! In my opinion, it should have probably waited for a Wii U release, or whatever.

And I was a big fan of Pilotwings Resort, but I would have greatly preferred the island to be like this. Enormous, with a crap ton to explore and do.

"Pooping mingame? Whatever, we'll make it work! Make it play that whistle sound when you drop one!"

I like the look of the Mii people in this game (and the previous "We" Namco games, to my understanding), compared to Nintendo's own. I have a bad feeling the temptation's going to be strong to put this one off to later, but I think for the effort they've put into it, Namco deserves the money.

I think that whistle sound is going to get grating, though. It would be fantastic if that's something you can change to fit your player or preference.

This reminds me, I still need to buy a fourth Motion Plus add-on. I really wouldn't want to leave the fourth player feeling left-out.

What about Family Fishing?

Family Fishing has been confirmed for Europe under that title. North America will be getting it under a different title - Fishing Resort, I think.

I don't have a link, but I remember a list of European release dates being posted on here recently that included the game. I wouldn't be surprised if '2011' became '2012' though.

Interview with Kobayashi, producer of the game.

50 activities, 2.5 years development time, more that 100 people team, including only internal stuff.
15-20 hours walkthrough, more than 100 hours doing everything, that number could reach 200 hours.

Namco is very confident for this game.

Thanks for the link and info.

I can't believe how hyped I am for this game. :-)

I considered holding off on this due to my limited finances but 31$ shipped is just too good. I really want to support the title since it really looks like a winner. I'm only buying 3 games the rest of the year and this is one of them.

I'll have 3 wiimote + units once Zelda hits and I have a couple of standard wiimotes and 3 wii motion + units so I'll be fine there. I will need to pick up a balance board though. I also hope the Zapper support includes aim calibration.

But it IS online.
I don't see the wifi logo on the boxart.

Anyway, the trailer was simply *mind-blowing*, puts "next-gen" efforts to shame, this is what I always imagined more powerful hardware could bring many years ago, and ironically enough it's on the Wii

It's not online - I actually e-mailed Namco when I saw that on the Amazon listing since I figured it wasn't true, they confirmed there's no online whatsoever. I think I posted about it earlier in this thread, now that I think about it.

No online?

These games are BUILT for online.

Stupid stupid stupid.
yes, to cater to the vast majority of wii owners who know that it can even go online in the first place at the end of the system's life.

Online version on WiiU please !

I'll buy that bad boy nonetheless and invite friends to play it over the weekend.

God, I can't wait for this game, only a few friggin' weeks!

Anyway, does anybody know if the entire island is seemless or is it split into 4 zones? I seem to remember hearing that the various transports such as the cruise ship and plane goes around the entire island, but what about on land?

Why is everybody so interested in this game? I've played it in Cologne, but it wasn't fun at all. Sure, it's an open world game where you can play random minigames on certain locations, but it's really shallow. I think you're better of with Marop Party 9, Fortune Street or Mario & Sonic 2012 if you want minigames...

yes, always a good idea to remove a feature that would extend replay value significantly.

u r rite

Hmm then maybe it's not online anymore. I could swear it was planned at one point. This is for local Multiplayer anyways. Will buy none the less.

Which minigames did you play?

To me it's not even about the mini-games. I know that's the meat of the game, but to me, simply being able to wander around the island is gonna keep me happy for quite a while. Playing some mini-games inbetween is just icing on the cake. I don't even care if they're good or not, at least they're diverse and interesting.

I don't expect the minigames to be particularly good. But with 50 to choose from it's a good bet that I will like at least 10 or more.

I think mini-golf, tennis and rafting will be good.

Other than that I want to build my own villa and just explore the island on horseback, or jeep.

I think the main attraction of the game is pretending it's a real holiday resort where you're free to do whatever you want.

This is why I'm interested in the game too. I really hope Nintendo will make something similar with a Wii Sports Resort 2.

Im not sold on the trick system. From what i saw, they work the same way as the trick system on the Wii Ski games: you just press the directional button on the wiimote to do a pre defined trick. Its a wasted oportunity, since with motion plus they could make the tricks with 1-1 motion and it would be really cool

Aside from that, the game looks like an incredible idea to play with wife and kids. It is kind of impressive no one has done something with that level of polish on wii before

I think a big part of the reason I'm excited is that I haven't played a "mini-game collection" in forever. I mean they're almost exclusively awful and samey, so why would I?

This game looks like a fresh take on the genre, includes a bunch of Animal Crossing elements, adds split screen, and looks great. I'm just hoping that those feelings aren't just due to really good camera cutting and PR

Well, scrue it I pushed dat button on Amazon before the cut-off for release date shipping ended today. $28 bucks flat, for some reason it said it had been discounted even more at the checkout.

It just shipped and will be here in the morning - I'm going on vacation!

Just got my shipping notification, but the fact that there still aren't any reviews is worrisome.

Wow, this is out tomorrow. Need that $30 for other game purchases at the moment but I'm looking forward to hearing all of your impressions.

You really expect the gaming media to pay any attention to this game? REALLY?

Wishful thinking, I guess. Must be too colorful or something.

Wondering, how much character customization is possible? Aside from traditional barefoot activities like surfing or beach volley, can characters in this game do everything barefoot? I love being barefoot, and if my game character can go barefoot as well all the better :)

Someone should create an OT, and basically treat it as if it'll be a big game :)

I also got the notice it shipped. Hope it arrives tomorrow. I actually picked up Wii Motion + for this game (and eventually, Zelda)

Mine is "shipping soon"

One thing I like about Amazon is their estimates for Super saving shipping are much later than they usually are. Should be playing some next week as a good relaxation tool after a stacked school week.

This game looks very interesting, to say little.

When Nintendo announced Wii Sport Resort, I wanted that game became something like this. Now I will have what I want.

If the sports in this game have the sort of motion control we saw in Resort, then it can be the best wii game ever.

But i really dont think this is going to happen. Im betting on "waggling replacing button mashing"

I hope not. And when this game will launch in Europe and Japan? I hope its became a good game and have a sequel with a bigger island and totally on-line for WiiU.

Let's buy!
