That's the old Godzilla from the '50s-'70s. The '90s Godzilla is substantially larger than the Jaegers and most of the Kaiju. 2014 looks to be larger than any previous Godzilla.

good god, the scale for the new movie is gonna be insane. <3

For those who don't believe him, this is a list of Godzilla's feats throughout the years...

Sorry, but every single Kaiju and Jaeger working together would still get stomped utterly.

Thank you. It's not even about his height (still he is currently around the height of PacRim figures). Basically, jaegers and kaiju are big, but mostly ordinary. Godzilla is big and super-powered. In human scale/form, it's like Batman vs Superman when it comes to strength and destructive power.

I'm a bit disappointed if that's the final design, to be honest.

Previous concepts looked more feral, with less humanoid features.

Like these (official concepts or not, I dunno):

Seriously. I'm disappointed that it isn't this one.. Ah well. I'm still excited to see the movie!

not too worried about the head. the poster looks like just a painting so it might not be truly accurate. maybe the final CG is more like the maquettes.

Eyes are very expressive and human. I expect Godzilla to make Dreamworks face at some point. Movie can still be good though.

I wish the movie featured chubby tank Godzilla.

They could really play up the heaviness by having him absolutely tear through the ground with every single step.

THAT is the type of Godzilla you'd expect to survive any conventional weapon thrown at it. Then god help you if you're a sassy Gigan and want to attempt going MMA with him.

The first thing that came to my mind when looking at the more expansive chart was "slattern would have bent the fuckin jaegers directly over...." ...

I suppose godzilla could be that movie :-)

I shall be hopeful

Plus Godzilla took a absolute zero ice beam and tanked it like its nothing.

now is this movie Godzilla or comic book Godzilla?
because i'm pretty sure that comic book Godzilla isn't canon.

Wait, if a black hole can't even destroy Godzilla, then we have no hope left.

If this new movie stuck by those factoids, this would become an apocalyptic horror film where the whole earth is massacred.

Biggest Godzilla yet?!

I've got high hopes for this movie. The difference so far, in handling, between this and the Robocop remake is amazing.
Also, as crazy as it sounds, I think the films would benefit from never fully showing Godzilla in any of its trailers, posters or promotional material, just bits of him. Wait until the film hits to see a full body shot of Godzilla.

I don`t think Godzilla is going to die in this one. They want sequels where Godzilla is protecting humans from aliens or giant butterflies.

honest answer i liked 1998 design better.

The design of that guy is fine. It actually looks really good. It's just not Godzilla, and that was always going to be the problem.

This "new" Godzilla for 2014, though. It's a great amalgamation of the older, classic, "man in suit" look, and a more realistic look. I think Godzilla is one of the few times where I'll champion the outdated look, because it just wouldn't feel like Godzilla otherwise.

I also love that the Kaiju in Pacific Rim were often purposefully made to look like a "man in a suit" during the earlier encounters of them. Damn I love Pacific Rim. I am super excited for Godzilla 2014. Monster movies for life!
