total tonal disconnect from the trailers, the footage shown here looks like something roland emmerich farted out.

where's my kubrick, my oppenheimer, my heisenberg.

and dat 90's cgi water :/

really disappointing, ugh.

The CG shots there definitely are not the final renders. However, that terrible water might be here to stay.

Footage looks good though. Badass reveal at the end.

I like how that roar and overall stance is inspired by grizzley bears, its clear (and a brilliant decision)

As expected this ones gon be a cross between a gator and a grizzley bear

Bueno

CGI does look a little too animated so I hope that gets improved by the time its done

I don't think any of the main cast was there.

I agree. They should run toward the destruction and the monsters. Godzilla should have powers that allow him to move through the ocean without displacing the water - he should be a giant ghost basically.

I don't know who the man with the little girl that they were focusing on were but come on - how many times we've seen this? Everyone is running away but only they find an escape route - just in time too.

I don't like the kickass guys involvement in this he's a fuckhead edgy dingle berry and should've been cut loose don't want your premature male gaze gtfo

I wish there was less emphasis on young characters and the little girl daddy trope can suck it

Looks about the same to me :/ Hell most of this footage was in the trailers.

hype deflating, i really thought they were gonna do something different with this. dat independence day dog, dem random peoples narrowly escaping danger.

george is getting upset.

Ya know...this does kinda look like an Emmerich joint. Or at least a generic disaster film with monsters. As soon as the little girl noticed somethng and they all started running from the wave I groaned.

The bit with the train was cool tho. Nice reveal with the bug.

Apparently, this was the same footage shown at SXSW which was shown March 14. That was when it was still in the Previsulatization phase.

....I'm pretty sure most of those people didnt escape

What this movie needs to focus on are the adults

The biophysicists responsible for these animals and we need to hear their jargon with the govt and military

Not the hotshot and his dumb gf

That's like a standard movie trope, what the hell

The door was leaking at the end, chances are the three that made it in the building are dead.

Looks like a Godzilla movie.

That doesn't really look like a panicked crowd unfortunately. We've all seen crazier in real life for 50% off no-name mp3 players.

It looks like a typical disaster movie, but with Godzilla and Friends and shot like someone gives a rat's ass. I'm actually kinda interested. I know very little about Godzilla but this is probably the best he'll ever look in a film. Could be good, could be bad, jury's still out.

hmm, I am skeptical of the scoring honestly. The trailers evoked a superior sense of seriousness and dread. The music was undermining it for me.

Also not a fan of Godzillas leg design. Too stumpy

Agreed, I did not care for the music at all before Godzilla shows up. It was actually distracting. No music at all could be more effective I think.

The good thing about this movie is that the last Godzilla was so bad, that it's almost impossible to get any worse. The bad thing is that mean it has a lot to prove too.

I much rather have a Godzilla movie than a movie like Pacific Rim. More terror in Godzilla if it's done right.

There is a trope trope on GAF at the minute.

"I don't like the tidal wave trope."

"I don't like the main cast running away trope."

"I don't like the daddy with little girl trope."

Movie looks amazing, quit whinging.

That music was ass

It was only there for a nostalgic effect

Increase tension (REAL SHIT) remove all music and remove young edgy looking hotheads

A better question is what parts looked bad other than the unfinished CGI? There's a reason they haven't shown this to the public yet.

That's not really a better question at all.

Most of it doesn't look bad or good. It's just not particularly well shot or acted disaster movie footage. It may be entirely different in the final movie but to say that looks amazing is weird.

I know it's hard for people to believe but in real life there are people who escape peril by the skin of their teeth, it's not just a trope from movies.

Why does that dog look fake

Why is that dog getting so much attention in the shot anyway

Looks cool, though. This is the first of anything related to the film that I've seen. We sure do get a lot of lanky, Cloverfieldian monsters these days. (I've seen a lot of the movies, but I'm not a Godzilla expert—does that monster have precedence?)

I've seen the Russian dashcam videos to confirm this.
