Godzilla Leaked Wondercon Footage

Yeah, these disaster movies about giant sea monsters destroying entire cities really need to make sure they have more plausible near death misses.

They should have shots of people calming walking away right out of harms reach.

Most of it doesn't look bad or good. It's just not particularly well shot or acted disaster movie footage. It may be entirely different in the final movie but to say that looks amazing is weird.

There's little acting to speak of in that clip to judge, and I wouldn't be surprised to find out that it's an abridged version of what ends up in the final film. What I did enjoy was the sense of scale it's showing in what I can make out of a low-quality cam footage.
 
I'm hope this doesn't end up being another case of Man of Steel syndrome, where the trailers are more compelling than the overall film. I hope they use the main dudes for more than just getting tossed around in the destruction.
"Oh no, our main hero just happens to be on the one train car muto attacks, what luck! Oh darn, look at all those people fall to their deaths but our hero and his kid don't fall so i'm not sad."
Anyway, can't lie, that last shot got me hyped as hell.

This seems the most obvious route for an immediate sequel. And I REALLY wanna see it.

Plus it fits into America's addiction to taking a sequel and trying to make it ALIENS as much as possible.

Maybe I'm just burnt out on tsunami scenes in disaster movies. I feel like I've seen the same thing a dozen times.
 
is Godzilla or those giant walking bat monsters the good guys? I thought I read the other monsters are military made to fight godzilla but then the army is shooting them so wtf?

EDIT: the guy and his kid on the train are going to suck. I hate that the family shit that gets juiced into these types of movies it comes off cheesy.

that dog was able to untie itself from a fucking tree. encase that dog with armor made from the glass used in that stores windows and you have the true king of the monsters.
 
Just got to the Arena in time to see this live with the crowd when it happened. The reaction was crazy and I flipped out at the awesomeness of it all. I got real lk=ucky as I had a hell of a time finding parking and wanted to go to the WB event just for Godzilla.

One minor nitpick...

"Boomer will live." The dog that was leashed to a pole is running away from the tsunami in the next scene? He was stuck there!

One thing that ticked me off is that I went to go to the 5:00 PM panel for the 60th Anniversary of Godzilla/Making of the original film that was originally not a major panel and in one of the small rooms, so when I get there at 4:30 the line was super long due to everyone getting hyped from the WB preview and expecting more.

I can understand that if the final film is nothing more than Micheal Bay destruction porn, than I'll be the first to call it out on it.

They filmed an major scene in a FEMA camp when they were shooting so I doubt this will be the case.

Would you prefer the main character had nothing to do with the actual plot? Or how about they died half way through the movie?

Seeing that dog outrun the tsunami set off my Emmerich detector big time.

Typical tired response to a typical Hollywood film. The trope with people expecting Hollywood movies to suddenly change to meet their vague needs despite making billions of dollars in their current form needs to stop already.

Glad I am not alone. The trailers seemed to show a uniqueness to the disaster flick. That shit was pretty by the numbers looking. Liked the 3 seconds of zilla though.

If we're going to be that nit picky it didn't get away the last we see of "Boomer" is when it reaches the crowd of people that second later is swept away from the tsunami. That is one dead dog.
 
Honestly it's probably too much to ask this type of movie to avoid cliche everywhere. I mean you could have that dog and the man and his daughter get squashed like bugs under Godzilla's foot but then I'd be laughing in the theater when everyone else is shocked and that would be awkward.

I'm sure they want that Kids money. (well, im sure they want all the money they can get in general). So of course its not gonna be as depressing as the very original one. still more realistic than emmerich though.

one does not simply make a $170m movie without making it suitable for the casual audience.

Yeah it's going to a balance. Still though I would never have expected a big Godzilla movie that looks this good a coupl years ago.
