GOG Fall Insomnia Sale [Limited quantity sales!]

It's been stuck a while on that one :/

I already have the infinity engine games and NWN 1 and 2 but I would love to acquire a bunch of stuff like Might and Magic, Syndicate, Phantasmagoria, the Gabriel Knights games, Ultima VII, Legend of Grimrock and Theme Hospital. Hopefully I didn't miss those.

You missed Theme Hospital two times. They had 1000 not long ago. U7 will be back I guess. And we've had a M&M collection.

BOOOOOOOO!!!!

I had time to make dinner, get more drunk, eat dinner, and then stumble back upstairs, and this fucking game still isn't gone.

And... Jade Empire... :/

I really wish the free copies of stuff wouldn't go in five seconds. :/ Giving away 40 copies or so of that is pretty stupid. :(

That went by quickly and nicely, hopefully Thief 1 does as well. I was going to jump on it this morning but I think I'll pass now. Only holding out for Baldurs Gate 2, possibly something else if it catches my eye.

BOOOOO the free stuff is rigged. Managed to click but got the "we are overwhelmed error page with some little animal thing holding the planet earth"

Legend of Grimrock is on sale for 3.75 at the humble store.

That works too. Got the mail about them opening a store but didn't check it out. Thanks for the heads up. So bought.

Did you try refreshing the page? I only managed to get one free game and that time I got that error page as well but when I refreshed I got the game.

And here I thought that the basic response towards Jade Empire had been pretty negative, that it hadn't maintained its lofty 9.9 IGN rating in the eyes of most people.

I'm gonna ask this again since things are slow ATM, has anyone had any issues using paypal at checkout, I bought BG2 when it was 1.99 and got a Paypal receipt email for it, but no gog email, and the game isn't in my inventory.

After that I grabbed my card and just filled it out on gog for the next few purchases and got emails right away and those games are all in my inventory instantly.

I had the exact same issue with BG2 when paying by credit card, I used their "Contact Us" form to let them know I was charged for the game but received no email and no game. They responded in less than 2 hours, sent a confirmation email for the game and added it to my library. Excellent customer service!

It's nowhere close to any of the previous Bioware games but you can still maybe have some fun with it? Maybe?

Didn't Amazon used to do this, then people got so mad they went to a lottery system?

They still do it with the Lightning Deals. The key is successfully predicting the items' potential demand to ensure that it doesn't go out of stock in the first few seconds. I'm thinking of an example like last year's really good Vita deal, where everyone thought it would sell out within the first minute, but they managed to guarantee enough stock to ensure that it lasted a few hours.

Besides, I forget exactly, but wasn't the lottery system just for one or two Black Fridays (Or for a few major deals)? Lotteries can be quite inefficient, since there's no way to guarantee that the people who win them will go through with the purchase, or that they just won't flip their spot for a quick profit. I believe that they've since moved more towards the Voting idea for Black Friday, since it allows them to better track potential demand for a product in advance.

Yeah they got back to me really quick as well, all sorted out. A+++ would buy again.

Weird. I never reached the order confirmation page or received a confirmation email, but I just checked my GOG library and saw that I got a free copy of Alpha Centauri.

I think that is exactly why they ran the deals twice. The first time to gauge interest, then the second time with enough copies to curb demand.

Of course that is theoretical. You would think if that were the case these lower demand titles would have less copies.
