I arrived sunday night and yesterday I spent the day with seeing a lot of places already. I set out from my sister's house in Ikebukuro and played a game of SFIV against some Japanese guy in an arcade and got my ass kicked. After that we went to Sunshine City mall in Ikebukuro and just walked around and later visited the observatory in that mall, which gave an awesome view of Tokyo. It was a really nice sunny day so we could see for miles. Also visited the gardens of the Imperial Palace. It was ok, I thought we would be allowed to get closer to the Palace, but we could only see it from a distance. A little bit disappointed in that. After that we just walked around Chiyoda and sat at a beautiful little park, called Hibiya Park. Finally we went to Akihabara and just walked around a bit there.

The palace courtyard does open up, but only twice a year: The emperor's bday (currently December 26, iirc) and January 2 for new years stuff. If you're lucky, you may even be greeted by the entire royal family on those days. I lived in Nagoya for a year and a half and I went to Tokyo once for New Years just cause it was super cheap to go then. I had no idea about seeing the courtyard until I was in line for a tour of the gardens. Happened to see the Royal family too. Great times. But freaking cold.

I was shopping in synth & guitar shops in Shibuya today and went for a wander, took a photo of a little guard guy on a street and when I was checking the pic, there's a dude in it who looks a lot like Mark Macdonald of former 1up fame, i'm pretty sure it's him. Funny.

Saya if you don't mind me asking about how much did your total trip set you back!? If I ever go anywhere that far away from the US I want to go to Japan!

I think I spent about 1000 euros in total including ticket from Indonesia, Jakarta to Tokyo. But then again i didn't had to spent anything on accommodation. I stayed for free at my sister's place near Ikebukuro. And I didn't really bought a lot of stuff actually haha. I love windowshopping, but didn't buy a lot. I got some new clothing but that's it.
