I'm assuming True Grit wasn't eligible? Damn at no Breaking Bad for series and what is up with the comedy/musical category this year? Burlesque? The Tourist? Johnny Depp and Angelina Joli for The Tourist?

I will say I love the Emma Stone recognition. While Red isn't a horrible choice for that category, but considering Scott Pilgrim, Kickass or all the animated comedies you could put in there...

13. BEST ORIGINAL SCORE – MOTION PICTURE
a. ALEXANDRE DESPLAT - THE KING’S SPEECH
b. DANNY ELFMAN - ALICE IN WONDERLAND
c. A.R. RAHMAN - 127 HOURS
d. TRENT REZNOR, ATTICUS ROSS - THE SOCIAL NETWORK
e. HANS ZIMMER INCEPTION

Haven't seen the others but I loved the score in this movie so much.

How was the fighter/whalberg/bale? Haven't seen much about this, they have a chance to win at all?

Tourist is a comedy?

I can't believe Alice in Wonderland, Burlesque, Red, & The Tourist all got best picture nominated. What a joke.

And True Grit snubbed? Wow.

Glad to see Carlos get some love, but that is about it. And The King's Speech, which is great.

Leo should have been nominated for shutter island. It deserved more nominations.

7. BEST ANIMATED FEATURE FILM
a. DESPICABLE ME
b. HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON

c. THE ILLUSIONIST
d. TANGLED
e. TOY STORY 3

Either of this should win. Toy story is over rated. Also Go A R Rahman for 127 hours.

I'd say The Social Network and 127 Hours can give Inception a run for it's money on score.

I haven't seen The Fighter yet, but the buzz is high. I don't think it will win best picture, but Bale is probably a lock. Wahlberg's competition just seems too good to compete with.

Yeah, Breaking Bad getting snubbed is ridiculous. Stomps all over Dexter and The Walking Dead (and I like both of those shows).

If Toy Story shouldn't get it, then The Illusionist should. Utterly incredible film in every single respect.

So I guess The Kids are Alright is guaranteed to win something? As I'd be appauled if anything else won in that comedy/musical category.

Also, wtf at Colfer getting a supporting nom. He's been the main character this entire season.

Maybe it's voter fatigue? On the other hand, I have no idea why Treme doesn't even get a look-in to make up for all those years of snubbing the Wire. Party Down deserves a nomination too :/

How come True Git was not nominated? =/ Not that it matters anyway >.>

True Grit is released on the 22nd of December in the US, way after these nominations are released. It will be eligible for next years Golden Globes.

Wow that Comedy and Musical category is a fucking joke. :lol

Not only are 4/5 terrible, 3/5 don't really fir the name of the category imo.

4. BEST MOTION PICTURE – COMEDY OR MUSICAL
a. ALICE IN WONDERLAND
b. BURLESQUE

c. THE KIDS ARE ALL RIGHT
d. RED
e. THE TOURIST

:lol :lol :lol This award show is a joke.

Black Swan
The Fighter
Inception
The King's Speech
Winter's Bone
Blue Valentine
True Grit
The Kids Are All Right
127 Hours
How To Train Your Dragon
Toy Story 3
The Illusionist
The Town

All of these movies are probably the front runner for the 10 best picture spots at the Oscars, and with Scott Pilgrim (lol I wish), The Illusionist, Let Me In, and Animal Kingdom as possible dark horses i'd say it's been a pretty great year.

That's not true at all. All of these members have screeners and can attend early screenings. It was simply snubbed, kind of sad.

Calling an entire awards show a joke because of one weak catergory is retarded.

Last year, Nine and It's Complicated were nominated in the same category.

It's still a better show than the Oscars.

I haven't seen it yet, but is the Tourist really a comedy? From all the advertising and trailers I don't see anything funny about the movie and that really seems like an odd category to put it in.

Not how it works. It's release date makes it eligible. It might not have been eligible for other reasons, or they just didn't bother to submit it. Or the members suck and just didn't nominate it.

Also, I'd like to take this opportunity to say that Modern Family is terribly overrated.

It's the most sterile, safe, and one-note TV comedy in years. Not terrible, but not award-worthy.

By far the best thing about that show is Sofia Vergara, and I don't mean her acting.

Many nominations in weak categories are used to attract the biggest stars. One, because it increases television ratings and two, because the foreign press want to rub elbows with them.

i tried watching it cause i liked the titty gifs and it sucked

Wasn't aware Alice in Wonderland was supposed to be a comedy, I thought it was just an awful film. Maybe that's the comedy

Yep, it is shame Shutter Island got overshadowed by Inception.

But that's the power of the summer blockbusters.

I saw 147 movies in the theater this year, and Inception and The Fighter don't belong in the Best Picture category. Where the hell is Blue Valentine and Bong-joon Ho's Mother?

Also Mark Walhberg was the weakest performance in The Fighter--the man can't act unless you're telling him exactly what to do.

You should all watch this. Brilliant movie.

a. ALICE IN WONDERLAND

This is category is fucking ridiculous.

Alice in Wonderland isn't a comedy, and it's a terrible movie not worthy of anything. I also love how a musical automatically gets nominated even if it's awful (Burlesque). And The Tourist was absolutely drubbed by the critics, so I don't understand that one either.

And I really enjoyed The Walking Dead, but it getting a Best Drama nom over Breaking Bad is insane. At least True Blood didn't get nominated (and I say that as a fan of the show).

I'm so out of touch with movie stuff now. I haven't seen any of the movies listed save for How to Train Your Dragon and Despicable Me.

I'm really quite surprised Inception is up for Best Picture. Granted, it's one of only 3 or so films i've seen this year but I didn't think it was of that standard.

:( What's wrong with Tangled? I thought it was far better than Toy Story 3. (Not that Toy Story 3 was anywhere near bad though.)

best picture, comedy or music. oh dear :lol

Is Red a good film?

no. it's awful. can't decide whether it wants to be a serious thriller or an over the top comedy, tries both and ends up being nothing. the old person badass gimmick wears off very quickly, the script sucks, there are some terrible special effects (bruce willis car.gif) and the cast is all it has going for it.
