GoNintendo Rumor: Nintendo & Disney Teaming Up For Movie Projects

Nintendo + Pixar = Heaven

Pixar has turned to shit, couldn't stand Inside Out.

Let Disney Animation helm the project.

On a side note, I don't see the benefit for Disney. Disney films are a marketing vehicle for their consumer products & theme parks division. They get no ancillary revenue from Nintendo. Don't believe it.

There is a thing called merchandise. And Nintendo could make some games, lend their IPs etc

The Legend of Zelda from Pixar. It needs to happen.

Nah

I'd like to see them tackle Nintendo properties with no real narrative to screw up. A great rocky type movie using the Punchout characters would be great. Can't really screw that up.

Depends on the contracts they sign.

Of course it does, but then you would have two separate entities dictating what to do with that said property. Disney likes to own, and reap the rewards entirely for itself - it doesn't make sense for them unless Nintendo & Disney establish a joint-venture akin to TPC where it handles licensing, films, tv shows, etc.

I adore Nintendo, despise Disney, and abhor video game movies....so I'm not sure where this places me. That being said, if it's good for Nintendo then I'm happy for them and I hope they make some great revenue out of this.

Seems strange that they would have made their theme park deal with Universal, but a movie deal with Disney...

Sounds great, but I wonder what Disney would gain from the deal, though? I mean it's not like their animated films are struggling to make money with original IPs attached to them.

i have a hard time thinking about what disney would actually dedicate their valuable time to when it comes to a feature length film. i'm sure they'd rather own the franchise completely like they do frozen or cars.

Yeah, this doesn't pass the smell test at all.

this is X company talking about Y company.
it's no more than predictions and guesses.
Not better than random "what if" posts on the Internet.

I honestly didn't know Disney owned all of the KH charaters...

Soo... why they dragging their feet on Kingdom Hearts in Infinity? GAH i'm so frustrated with Disney now >.<

Yes I know there is a keyblade unlock in DI 3.0

Pixar and Nintendo would be a perfect marriage of two creative giants past their prime that everyone either still loves blindly or hates irrationally who have lost their way but shouldn't be counted out

Sony Pictures are doing the animated Mario movie. Judging by one of the emails where Avi was excited that they got the rights for it and possibly the rights for a Smash Bros movie.

Depends. They could get game support from Nintendo. There could also be hooks built into the NX that are beneficial to Disney in some way.

Nintendo+WDAS making animated movies of Mario, Zelda, Pokémon and DK or a Nintendo/Disney crossover would be a dream (i actually don't understand how this didn't happen in videogames after KH's success). I'm on board as long as Pixar stays the fuck away from something like this.

This is worth almost nothing to Disney. What they want is to create new IPs so popular that they can sustain figures up to $2B in merchandising revenue per year. How can Nintendo offer them anything like that?

Not true, they were in conversations. After the leaks and knowing Nintendo Ninjas, it's very possible Sony was rejected.

After publication, Arad denied to BuzzFeed News via email that the Super Mario deal had closed, saying his negotiations with Nintendo were “just the beginning.”

that's a pretty wrong opinion.

Because KH has made a fraction of the money that their movies have in spite of manga, games, art books, music and everything else. Disney also has had Spectrobes
Don't rest in peace, fucking come back
, Epic Mickey and other game projects not turn much profit. In fact, until Infinity made them a fuckton of cash, they had virtually abandoned gaming. KH is 4.0 though.

Weren't Nintendo and SONY in discussions for movie rights?

Nintendo probably went to Disney the day after.

Seriously though, Nintendo movies made by Disney would be the best thing ever.
Quite honestly, I don't think anyone else could even do the IPs justice.

Please let this be more than just Mario and Luigi appearing in Wreck-It Ralph 2.
