I actually like the beginnings to this moreso than when
Jesus Kefka
descends, and especially one of the later parts where it's just this "non-battle" sounding classical piece.
 
Am I the only one who liked FFVIII's final boss theme (The Extreme) more than One Winged Angel? The techno inspired theme to that was awesome. One Winged Angel while being good and dramatic seemed a little over the top...

Really? I thought it climaxed well! My favourite is still the first tier though. But still, 17 mins of awesome, AWESOME battle music.
 
Full Stop (Command & Conquer)
Fight for Power, Harkonnen Battle (Dune 2/2000). And that wonderful little bit in Under Construction (Dune 2/2000, still), I love that song.

Hell no, I might have argued that back in 1997 or 1998, but after nearly a decade of worship and eventual overrating of the track, I'm pretty sick of it, while The Extreme is a seriously awesome, upbeat track that gets my blood flowing.

Oh, indeed, it WAS awesome. I just think the compositions beforehand are better and more... I dunno, dare I say more creative. Especially at about a minute and a half in. Holy crap.

Oh, I totally agree. Your original post above is a bit spoileriffic, though, for those who haven't played the game. :) I like how they integrated
the title screen music and Kefka's maniacal laugh
into the music, though. Classic!

Oh, and Atelier Iris's arrange album took the battle themes to a whole new level of complete and absolute awesomeness. S.S.H. is the man.

Really? I didn't think too much of that album when it first came out. I'll have to give it another listen and see if I appreciate it more this time.

It's easily one of the best arranged albums of 2005, if you ask me.

I just remember thinking the it was over the top with double bass craziness, guitar solos, and such. Perhaps I'm mistaken, though. I'll post once I listen again. :p

Nevermind. I'm listening to it again, and AIEM Arranged Tracks -Deceitful Wings- is awesome. I must not have liked rock as much back then or something. Man, Atelier's music rocks so much.

So, this is the same S.S.H. who did Nightrain. Cool. :)
 
Suikoden III's war Battles. (As in the regular battles, with enemies related to the war in the story -- not the "War Map" mini-game)

Too bad the regular Battle music theme sucked and felt like it came out of a carnival.
