Good looking and/or good quality consoles

In direct contrast to this thread, this thread is for the winners. The well designed, and/or good quality video game consoles.

Ones that saw limited releases, special versions of mainstream consoles, or in some cases, weren't released at all count to.

Still one of my faves, despite me never owning one myself (X version shown);

And the Mark III. So pretty.

I've always liked the white Sega Saturns. They're super colorful with the pink accents and other colors on the controller. I'd buy one if they didn't cost a ton to import.

The gamecube is the only disc based system that seemed to withstand insane amounts of physical punishment. My friend once dropped my Gamecube down a set of stairs and it worked perfectly afterwards.

Indestructible. Beautiful. A design/engineering classic.

I'd also add N64 and Gamecube to this list. In fact, I've never had a piece of Nintendo hardware fail or break on me in 30 years of gaming.

The white Saturn really is super-gorgeous, man.

By far the nicest build of the new consoles. Not a fan of the piano black fingerprint magnet nature of it, but it feels incredibly solid and is the best looking of the 3.

Gamecube. Is strong, it can fall as many times as I want and still work and is super cute with its cube design. I love it

  • SNES
  • OG Xbox (The Tank)
  • Xbox 360 (Post launch)
  • Xbox One
  • PS2 Slim
  • PS4 (Looks great, shitty build quality)
  • Gameboy Advance OG and SP.

The Mega Drive/Genesis model 2

A pretty minimalist design for 1993. Ahead of its time. In my opinion it looks better than the Japanese/PAL SNES.

The next step in this series of threads should be conceptual images of modernized old consoles or retro-ified modern consoles.

too bad the black ps4 has those ugly uneven color-stains on the matte portion and is slightly warped in the glossy portion... I've seen in in many pictures and mine is like that as well. does anyone knot if this is fixed/invisible in the white version?

So sleek and clean looking. And the screen was so much better than the original DS's. Best-looking gaming system of all time.

As for good quality, virtually every Nintendo console. Usually built like bricks and extremely reliable. There are a few exceptions, mostly the 3DS/XL.

And I must be in bizarro-land with people posting any of the Xbox consoles. They're all ugly except for the 360 Slim. (Yeah I know this is all subjective, but I don't care!)

NeoGeo AES would win hands down, the fact it still bloody works, isn't discoloured and has aged wonderfully (retro chic!) makes it top choice.

Let me also throw this one out there before someone posts that horrible Panasonic Q that looks like something the prince of Arabia would get custom made..

There aren't many good looking consoles that also have good build quality. The original Wii and the original Vita come to mind.

PS3 fat was good looking but the quality was horrible.

For me it was the complete opposite.

The phat lasted longer than any other console I owned despite enduring the most abuse, but it was a damn eyesore with its ridiculous chrome trimming and overall bulgyness.

Didn't we just have this thread recently?

I remember people posting tons of nice looking old-school (and newer) hardware.

Edit** I think it was "best looking consoles" not necessarily a "quality" post.

I think the Gamecube is the best combination of looks and build quality. I mean, it looks great and can survive a nuclear blast.

Good looking?

PS4
Xbox 360 S
Nintendo 64

Good quality?

Only issue I've ever had with a console was the RRoD with my OG 360. Horrible quality. Everything else I guess I considered good quality.
