A friend of mine just got a PS2 and she's big into those simple bar video games, specifically Super Boxxi. She asked me for some puzzle game suggestions (because as we all know, chicks love Tetris), but I didn't have an immediate answer. The Puyo Puyo series first came to mind, but I only played it on DC so I wasn't sure it was even on PS2. Same for Puzzle Fighter. In the end I just threw a DC favorite of mine out there that I knew made its way to the PS2, but wasn't necessarily what she was asking for: Space Channel 5. I figured even though it wasn't a puzzle game, you'd have to be sad, soulless, shell of a person to not enjoy a cutesy Simon Says game.

Anyway, what are some good puzzle games on PS2. Preferably with a strong single player element.

on-topic I'd go with Taito Legends 2. Or more specifically: Cleopatra's Fortune.
Okay yeah there's no story mode and the main character doing cosplay is ???? but it's a great falling block puzzler. You get 40+ other ok to great games too so eh nice bonus.

I loved the shit out of devils dice on ps1 but remember nothing about it. I got bombastic recently and am not really feeling it. Is it me? Or has the gameplay changed between those two titles.

I think there's a classic mode but you have to unlock it.

Good match three game. Much better music than the DS version.

That looks pretty cool, I'll definitely have to check that one out when I have the chance. You should try out Puzzle Dimension, it's an extremely similar game which came out last year for PC, and it's quite good. I looked them up and it turns the lead designer for Puzzle Dimension was the head of the studio that made Kula World, which I guess explains the similarities between them.

There isn't a PS2-specific version of the game, but you could simply grab the PS1 version and play it on PS2.

Great choices. Sadly, Lemmings for PS2 (port of the PSP version, with an additional EyeToy mode) was never released in North America.

I haven't played Lumines Plus on PS2, but the PSP Lumines games were great, so it should be a good game to have on PS2.

Midway Arcade Treasures has Klax, and Sega Genesis Collection has Columns. Both of those are older puzzle games from over 20 years ago, which have endured the test of time.
