I think 15 second ads would have pretty much the same effect as a 30 second ad, but with less annoyance for the user. So good on Google.
Basically we're gonna get more of this:

Which I think is worse.

Dont see why people have a problem with youtube ads. I just mute them and watch the whole ad to give more money to the creators
Alas it is not an option if you are outside the United States, Australia, Mexico, New Zealand or South Korea.YouTube Red was worth it for this.
When are people going to realize that using shit like Adblock just results in more/longer/more intrusive ads?

While I am happy about this I can't help but feel old when I hear people complain about it. I was talking to my younger brother about it the other day, we really have a service in which you can see almost anything you want within seconds and all it cost is maybe a 15 or 30 second ad for every handful of videos. The fact that people act as if that is somehow a huge disservice to them kind of makes me sad.
I hope all you guys who are mentioned "Adblock" are just mentioning it as a shorthand for "uBlock Origin".
Had never heard of it, just looked into it... sounds good and I like open source! Thanks for the heads upI hope all you guys who are mentioning "Adblock" are just mentioning it as a shorthand for "uBlock Origin".
30 second ads sucked especially on content that was short.
That being said I love how a large swath of people want to use YouTube, but God forbid they see an ad to help pay for it. It's not as if YouTube ads are intrusive. Only issue is the length. Plus they give you a paid out in YT Red with Gmusic.
I get that YouTube is a massive website with lots of moving parts but it takes a whole year to do this? Interesting.
The silver lining of using a Windows Phone: I get no ads at all on YouTube. Videos always play straight away.
Why 2018? That seems a weirdly long time for something that should be an easy fix.
