Google Pixel (2?) Rumor: "Waterproofing definitely coming with next Pixel device."

If true we'll see but im pretty comfy with this 7+ right now after being on Android for so long. Google needs to knock pixel 2 out of the park. Waterproof, stereo speakers, same or better battery life without the janky battery issues that plagued 6p later in its life

Add in micro SD support and match the Note 7 features and I'll be there day 1. Pull off the same bs as the current Pixel and forget it.

Have a 6P, wife's 5X just bootlooped the other day and got her a Pixel; She loves it! Love the feel of the phone but I'm not giving up on my 6P yet. Pixel 2 will be interesting since I'm guessing HTC gets the nod again. With the advent of the system storage via micro sd, would love them introduce the sim/ micro sd tray on all Pixel products going forward.

there is no such thing as water'proofing' for these phones. There are specs they must meet to get designated with different ratings of water 'resistance', and the specs have to do with the pressure of water, think rain/puddles vs a hose, and the angle of incidence. The pixel already meets a basic spec, if you put it in a puddle of water it'll be fine, however they didn't reach for the higher spec that specifies higher angles and more pressure/immersion, but only for 30 minutes or so. (http://www.dsmt.com/resources/ip-rating-chart/) The pixel is certified ip53, vs the s7's ip 68.

Dspite the ratings, as an owner the existing level of water resistance is perfectly adequate. Sure it'd be nice to get to that higher spec, but it's a marginal gain for what is otherwise already an excellent phone. Even with the lower current rating it handles water fine for most situations: https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=108&v=ObhMgCT-Rzw

Google isn't going to make mid tier phones anymore

If it gets damaged by water you can't return it. I don't think many people are all that worried about it, but if I'm plunking down flagship money I expect that feature.
