Not what I was expecting at all, but the more I think about it I realize how crazy of a first single that is. I'm sure we'll get a radio friendly single at some point, but this was awesome just for fucking with our expectations.

This is the most appropriate/timely drop of a track in some time.

It's so fucking creepy and haunting and vaguely hopeful but only a little.
So accurate.

This really grew on me after a few listens. I think it's similar to Rockit- kind of out of left field, a prelude to the full unveiling of Phase 4. I'm honestly not even sure if this will be on the album, but if it was I wouldn't mind. It feels like a fusion between Plastic Beach and Demon Days in terms of style, and I really like the unnerving vibe it gives off.

man that was a horrible, horrible song

hope this isn't a sample of the quality of the new album

not really, no

i love the lesser known tracks (which are the best ones, tbh) and this one suuuuuuuucks

I'll take Hallelujah Money over Sweepstakes any day.

People hating on this, did anyone listen to the Fall? Or that Noodle! mixtape from a couple weeks ago? This kind of has that same experimental sound (and by all indication the kind of sound the new album will have).

You'll get your radio single soon I'm sure.

There were a lot of people saying the song was good until that part. Seems a lot of folks came around to it after listening to it more than once.

yes, i did listen to the fall and loved it.

man i hate people who go on a higher ground like "you dont UNDERSTAND the music that's why you don't like it!!'

get off those high horses guys, i literally rolled my eyes at the bolded

both suck

Five or so listens in and really lovin' it.

Looks like we're going for five phenomenal albums in a row.

*shrug* I just get the impression that these people want a song with a beat. I get that and like those songs but I also like their out there stuff like Cloud of Unknowing or Fire Coming Out of a Monkey's Head. I can only imagine the reactions to those albums if they premiered with those songs.

My thoughts exactly. Really like the vocals from Benjamin Clementine. Never heard of him before but his voice reminds me of Anthony and the Johnsons.

Between this and Bowie's "No Plan," I feel like we're in for a pretty inspired music year.

Edit: Listening to it deeply again and I think it clicked with me. Really incredible lyrics.

I love this, especially on subsequent listens.

"Y'know I'm really not thinking this is "Anti" Trump, it's more about the historical significance of this event. Even as somebody who voted for him I can recognize that we're moving into uncharted territory here. He could be a great president. He could be a terrible one. He could be just okay. I can understand how that unknowing feeling could be scary for people."

"the artist I like couldn't possibly hate Donald Trump even though everything we know from his public persona shows he would"

I said earlier I wasn't too hot on it and that I'd like it more in context. Gotta say, after a couple more listens, I love it already. A lot more than I thought I was going to.

For reference, I've listened through their self titled album once, Demon Days probably around 50 times, and I've got a copy of Plastic Beach with the shrink wrap still on it.

Plastic Beach is their best work yet, friend.

Man, surprised so many people were down on it. Loved it from the first listen.

Then again, it definitely feels more like something from the Demon Days era than their more recent stuff. Maybe that's why it stuck out to me, Demon Days is my favorite album of all time.

Got a lot better towards the end, but I greatly dislike the vocalist. Reminds me of Demon Days mixed with a little Plastic Beach.

Wish Damon was singing the main vocals to be honest.

Liked it. People saying this isn't Gorillaz probably haven't listened to their records, only their heads. This is reminiscent of "Fire Coming Out Of A Monkey's Head" from Demon Days.

Donca was recorded after PB.
There are numerous avenues they could've gone to release it on Plastic Beach, such as a deluxe edition later down the line as Weezer did with their most recent album. But it doesn't really change what I said nor am I touting what I said as a fact.

Sounds like Gorillaz to me. I can see how you'd be disappointed if your experience starts and ends with Feel Good Inc and Clint Eastwood.

Sounds like a prologue song to their album.

I hope it's just the first track before it breaks down to the real gorillaz stuff. I hope.
